The next enterprise-AI contest is moving beyond chat. Google’s Gemini Enterprise and AWS Quick Suite—now increasingly documented as Amazon Quick—aim to become the governed interface between employees and company data, software and operating processes.
Imagine asking an assistant to find delayed renewals, combine CRM and email evidence, explain the risk, draft outreach, create follow-up tasks and request approval before changing a record. Finding information is search; explaining it is synthesis; carrying out the work is action. Both platforms are being built for all three.
First, untangle the product names
“Gemini Enterprise” can mean several related Google products. The Gemini Enterprise app is the employee-facing intranet search, assistant and agent hub. The Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform is Google Cloud’s development, runtime, evaluation and governance layer for production agents. Gemini features inside Gmail, Docs and Meet are part of Google Workspace, while Gemini Code Assist targets developers. These are connected offerings, not one interchangeable license. See Google’s Gemini Enterprise overview and its AI platform description.
AWS has its own naming transition. Amazon Q Business was the earlier enterprise assistant; AWS describes Quick Suite as its successor or next evolution. Current instructions increasingly call the product Amazon Quick, while launch and enterprise material still uses “Quick Suite.” Amazon Quick Sight is the separate business-intelligence product integrated into the experience. The distinction matters when comparing licenses and features.

What “full-stack, in-context AI” really means
“Full-stack” is vendor positioning unless the stack is specified. In practical terms, a workplace AI platform combines:
- Foundation models and model selection
- Retrieval and enterprise search
- Connectors to applications, files and data warehouses
- Identity, permissions and policy enforcement
- Tool use and write-back actions
- Agent and workflow orchestration
- Analytics over structured data
- User interfaces embedded in existing work tools
- Monitoring, evaluation, audit trails and cost controls
- Developer tools for building and operating custom agents
“In-context” is also more than a large context window. Useful enterprise context includes the employee’s identity and role, document- and row-level permissions, company terminology, current CRM or ERP records, historical activity, semantic data models, approved business rules, available tools and the state of an ongoing workflow.
That is why context quality and authorization can matter more than a newer model. A brilliant model with stale records or excessive permissions is less useful—and more dangerous—than a slightly less novel model with fresh, properly scoped data.

What Google Gemini Enterprise brings
Search, answers and an agent front door
Google positions the Gemini Enterprise app as enterprise search, an AI assistant and an agent hub. It can search connected organizational sources, provide grounded answers, handle multimodal material and host prebuilt, custom, partner and developer-created agents. Google documentation lists connectors including Confluence, Jira, Microsoft SharePoint and ServiceNow; availability and write capabilities depend on edition and configuration. Details are in the product documentation.
Google’s Agent Gallery is strategically significant. Administrators can control which partner-built agents employees can discover, making the app a potential front door to many specialized systems rather than a single chatbot. The no-code Agent Designer lowers the barrier for business teams, while Google’s Agent Development Kit and the broader Agent Platform target engineering teams that need deployment, scaling, evaluation and governance.

Signals of a more operational platform
Google’s release notes show the product developing beyond answer generation. Core Assistant became generally available; traces and metrics expose latency, agent invocations, tool calls and errors; Slack delivery supports enterprise search and AI answers; and transparent thinking became generally available in July 2026, showing planning activity before data-source or tool calls. Administrators still control models and features, and some capabilities can be restricted by region, edition or allowlist. See the release notes.
Google’s layered buying model
Google lists the Gemini Enterprise Business edition from $21 per seat per month, aimed at individuals, small businesses and teams of up to 300 seats. Standard and Plus start from $30 per seat per month, with sales contact required; those are starting prices, not universal configurations. Google advertises 30-day trials on the product page: Gemini Enterprise editions and pricing.
Workspace licensing is separate. Google currently displays Enterprise Standard at $27 per user per month with an annual commitment or $32.40 monthly, and Enterprise Plus at $35 annually committed or $42 monthly. Those plans include Gemini features inside Workspace but do not automatically include every Gemini Enterprise app or Agent Platform capability: Google Workspace Enterprise.
Custom production agents can add usage charges. Google’s Agent Platform pricing currently lists Agent Compute at $0.085 per vCPU-hour and Agent Storage at $0.30 per GiB-month; other services have their own billing dates and rates: Agent Platform pricing. A $21 seat therefore is not an unlimited full-stack deployment.
What AWS Quick brings
One workspace for chat, research and action
AWS describes Quick as an AI work companion that answers questions, conducts cited research, analyzes data, automates tasks, creates applications and acts across connected systems. Its architecture has four useful pieces: chat as the interface; agents that decide whether to answer, research, generate or act; “spaces” that package documents, dashboards, datasets and connectors; and integrations that provide knowledge sources, structured data and actions. AWS explains the model in How Amazon Quick works.
- Quick Research: produces cited research from connected sources.
- Quick Sight integration: supports dashboards and natural-language analysis.
- Quick Flows and Quick Automate: orchestrate repeatable and end-to-end work.
- Applications: generate interactive internal tools from natural-language descriptions.
- Desktop and extensions: work with local files, email, calendars and MCP servers, with extensions for Chrome, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365.
- Action connectors: use OpenAPI specifications or MCP servers to read from and write to external services.
Autonomy and analytics
A June 17, 2026 update added autonomous agents, multi-dataset analytics and a redesigned activity feed. AWS says administrators can set autonomy from approval at each step to broader goal-based execution. The same announcement describes identity propagation for permission-aware queries across data sources, direct approvals through email and Slack, and public sharing for Quick applications: AWS’s June 2026 update.

AWS also advertises more than 50 built-in connectors, including SharePoint, Snowflake, Google Drive, OneDrive, Outlook, ServiceNow, Databricks, Amazon Redshift and Amazon S3. That is a dated vendor count, not a guarantee of equal connector quality. Freshness, permission fidelity, attachments, write-back, rate limits, audit logs and regional availability matter more than the headline number: AWS product positioning.
Plan and cost complexity
Standalone Quick accounts offer Free and Plus plans. AWS-console-provisioned accounts use Professional and Enterprise account types. AWS describes per-user subscriptions plus consumption charges for Quick Index and optional services; important capabilities such as Quick Sight dashboards, Quick Automate and API access can depend on account type. The official plan distinctions are documented at Amazon Quick plans. AWS’s launch material explains the mixed subscription and usage model at the Quick Suite announcement.

The real battleground is context and action
Stage 1: answering
Both platforms can search authorized information and return grounded answers. The evaluation question is whether results include citations, current timestamps and an honest “insufficient evidence” response when sources conflict or are missing.
Stage 2: synthesizing
The systems can combine documents, email, databases, dashboards and records into a report, recommendation or analysis. This is where duplicate records, delayed synchronization and inconsistent terminology can undermine an otherwise impressive demo.

Agents can invoke tools, update systems, launch workflows, create applications and request approvals. Value and risk rise together: a mistaken summary is inconvenient; a mistaken CRM update or payment-related workflow can be operationally expensive.

Ask vendors and implementation teams:
- Are permissions checked at retrieval time, action time or both?
- Can summaries, snippets, metadata or charts leak information indirectly?
- Are prompts, outputs and tool calls retained, and for how long?
- Can administrators disable a model, connector, tool or agent?
- Does an action run as the employee, a service identity or both?
- Can every retrieval and write operation be audited and reversed?
- How are secrets stored, rotated and isolated?
- What happens when an agent or connector is compromised?
Google says Gemini Enterprise Business, Standard and Plus customers own their data and that prompts and outputs are not used to train Google models or models for other customers. AWS says Quick follows AWS security and privacy standards and that user queries are not used to train a model. These are vendor policy claims; the outcome still depends on retention, IAM, connector configuration and customer controls. Sources: Google’s policy statement and AWS’s Quick overview.

Common failure modes
- Permission leakage: document-level controls do not automatically prevent sensitive cross-document inferences.
- Prompt injection: a retrieved document can contain instructions aimed at the model; retrieved content is not automatically trusted content.
- Stale context: indexes may lag behind source systems or omit attachments and relationships.
- Overbroad autonomy: continuous agents can send messages, update records or trigger workflows at scale.
- Cost escalation: indexing, refreshes, long research jobs, tool loops, memory, analytics and model calls can dominate seat costs.
- Edition and preview limits: region, account type, administrator settings and general-availability status can change what a buyer actually receives.
A safer rollout progresses from read-only access to draft-only output, then human approval, narrow write permissions, limited autonomy and continuous monitoring.
How to choose and pilot
Start with the existing environment
Google is the natural first pilot for organizations centered on Gmail, Docs, Drive, Meet, Google identity, BigQuery and Google Cloud. AWS starts with an advantage where data and operations rely on S3, Redshift, Quick Sight, Glue, Bedrock, IAM or AWS-integrated Databricks and Snowflake. Neither is exclusive; both advertise third-party connectors.
Match the platform to the job
- Secure search and summarization: either may work; compare retrieval freshness, citations and permissions.
- Conversational BI: AWS has the clearer packaged Quick Sight and multi-dataset story.
- Custom agent engineering: Google suits teams seeking ADK, broad model choice, agent tracing and a central agent gallery; AWS suits teams prioritizing IAM, Bedrock-connected services, OpenAPI/MCP actions and AWS workflows.
- Write-back automation: compare identity delegation, approval gates, rollback, API limits and auditability—not demos alone.
Use one measurable workflow
Pilot a bounded process such as support-ticket triage, sales-account reviews, procurement exceptions, cited regulatory research, finance reconciliation or employee-service requests. Measure:
- Time saved per completed task
- Answer and citation accuracy
- Permission violations and leakage tests
- Action success and human-override rates
- Cost per task, including indexing and runtime
- User adoption and exception volume
Test direct and inferential data leakage, prompt injection, stale records, conflicting sources, connector outages and recovery procedures before expanding access.
Bottom line: choose the control plane, not the chatbot
Google and AWS are competing to become the trusted interface between employees and the organization’s information and operating systems. Google’s advantage is the combination of Workspace, Google Cloud data, a broad agent-development stack and a central agent ecosystem. AWS’s advantage is its infrastructure footprint, IAM, data services, Quick Sight analytics and increasingly explicit action and autonomy controls.
The defensible choice depends on where the company’s identity, data, workflows and engineering skills already live. Compare authorized context, action safety, observability and total cost per business task—not model branding or connector counts.
