Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, J.P. Morgan and existing investors also participated. The round was intended to fund enterprise expansion, growth in the United Kingdom and Australia, and further investment in AI-assisted compliance products.
There is an important chronology point: Vanta announced another $150 million round, its Series D, on July 23, 2025, at a $4.15 billion valuation. The financing discussed here is the 2024 Series C, not the later round.

What Vanta sells
Vanta started by automating evidence collection and workflows for security frameworks such as SOC 2. Instead of assembling screenshots, access records and policy documents manually for an audit, a company connects its cloud, identity, endpoint, HR and ticketing systems so the platform can collect relevant evidence and flag control gaps.
#1 Best Overall
- Simple shift planning via an easy drag & drop interface
- Add time-off, sick leave, break entries and holidays
- Email schedules directly to your employees
Its broader trust-management direction includes:
- Continuous control monitoring and evidence collection.
- Mappings across multiple compliance frameworks.
- Trust Centers where customers can review security information.
- Security-questionnaire automation for sales and procurement processes.
- Vendor-risk and third-party assessments.
- Custom controls tied to internal policies or contracts.
- AI-assisted workflows.
Vanta is not an auditor, and the software does not independently certify that an organization is compliant. An external auditor or assessor may still be required for an attestation or certification.
Why AI became part of the financing story
AI creates new governance questions
Generative-AI adoption gives security and compliance teams new questions to answer: what data is sent to model providers, whether prompts or files are retained, who can use AI tools, how unapproved “shadow AI” is detected, how AI-generated code is reviewed, and whether suppliers maintain appropriate AI-security controls.
Those pressures help explain the market opportunity, but the 2024 financing announcement does not establish that Vanta solves every AI-governance problem. AI compliance is a broader discipline than automating a questionnaire.
AI can reduce repetitive work
Vanta highlighted AI-powered Questionnaire Automation, which uses existing trust content and evidence to suggest answers to customer security reviews. Vanta said the product could help teams complete reviews five times faster. That is a company-reported product claim, not an independently validated benchmark.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe intended workflow is straightforward:
- A customer sends a security questionnaire.
- The platform searches approved Trust Center material and connected evidence.
- It proposes answers and identifies the supporting control or document.
- A security owner reviews, edits or approves the response.
- The answer is delivered directly or published through the Trust Center.
- Changes in the underlying controls can prompt an update.
Vanta described “zero-touch” security reviews as a direction for the product, not as a universal autonomous capability available to every customer.
What the Series C was meant to fund
Vanta identified three main priorities: moving further upmarket, expanding internationally—especially in the UK and Australia—and investing in AI and enterprise capabilities. The 2024 announcement also cited an enhanced REST API, SCIM provisioning, more multi-instance integrations, redesigned navigation, Policy Builder, in-app background checks and redesigned tests.
Vanta said it launched more than 260 product features during 2024. That is a management-reported output figure, not evidence that every feature was deployed successfully or that customers achieved a particular return.
Customer economics—and the limits of the claims
Automated compliance can create value in several ways: fewer hours spent gathering evidence, faster responses to enterprise buyers, less spreadsheet-based tracking and earlier visibility into failed controls. Vanta’s announcement gave these examples:
Recommended Free Tools
| Customer | Reported result |
|---|---|
| Modern Health | More than 100 hours saved per year on compliance and security tasks |
| SmartRecruiters | 20 hours per week saved across its pre-sales team |
| ZoomInfo | 90% of inbound security requests handled through its Trust Center and 8–10 security reviews automated per day |
These are customer or company-reported examples from Vanta’s announcement, not an independent market benchmark. Results will depend on framework scope, integrations, evidence quality and how much human review an organization requires.
Where AI-assisted compliance still needs people
Automation is not compliance
Software can collect evidence, map controls and identify a missing setting. It cannot by itself make a business practice lawful, secure or appropriate. People remain responsible for control design, exceptions, risk acceptance, incident response, legal interpretation and interactions with auditors.
Generated answers can be unsupported
Before relying on an AI-generated response, buyers should verify that the system:
- Links each answer to current source evidence.
- Shows the underlying control or document.
- Invalidates or flags stale answers.
- Routes responses through an approval workflow.
- Distinguishes “not applicable” from “unknown.”
- Logs generated and approved answers for audit purposes.
More monitoring can mean more noise
Continuous monitoring is useful only when alerts are prioritized, assigned and remediated. Ask about integration coverage, synchronization frequency, false-positive rates, ownership and service-level expectations. A control checked only when an integration syncs is not the same as a control observed continuously.

Compliance platforms hold sensitive information. A buyer should investigate storage regions, encryption, tenant isolation, role-based access, audit logs, subprocessors, retention and deletion, model providers, whether customer data is used for training, and customer-controlled AI settings. The financing announcement does not establish these details.

Vanta competes with focused platforms such as Drata, Secureframe and Sprinto; broader suites such as AuditBoard, ServiceNow GRC and OneTrust; and manual or consultant-led programs.
The right choice depends on the buyer’s priorities:
- Startup speed versus extensive enterprise customization.
- SOC 2 readiness versus broad risk, audit and privacy management.
- Continuous evidence collection versus audit-period preparation.
- AI assistance versus explainability and tighter human control.
- Native integrations versus bespoke workflows.
- Self-service software versus managed implementation and consulting.

What happened after the Series C
On July 23, 2025, Vanta announced a $150 million Series D led by Wellington Management at a $4.15 billion valuation. Its 2025 announcement described a broader AI-driven trust platform, including an AI Agent, AI assessments, continuous verification and planned natural-language workflows for tasks such as rewriting policies, assigning owners and collecting evidence.
Vanta’s 2025 release also cited 12,000 customers, 200 million continuously monitored assets and $504 million in total funding since 2021. Those figures are date-specific company statements. The valuation increase from $2.45 billion in 2024 to $4.15 billion in 2025 is a financing-market signal, not proof of a proportional increase in revenue or operating performance.
What buyers should check before signing
- Required frameworks, jurisdictions and entity coverage.
- Whether an external auditor or assessor remains necessary.
- Native integrations and evidence-sync frequency.
- AI answer citations, approvals and audit logs.
- Model-training, retention, deletion and subprocessor policies.
- SSO, SCIM, RBAC, encryption and hosting regions.
- Trust Center, questionnaire and vendor-risk capabilities.
- Support for custom controls and contractual commitments.
- Implementation services, auditor partners and data export.
- Total cost, including implementation, auditor fees, add-on frameworks and additional entities.
The Bottom Line
Vanta’s 2024 Series C reflects a shift from annual audit preparation toward continuously monitored, customer-facing trust infrastructure. AI can remove repetitive questionnaire and evidence work, but defensible compliance still depends on current evidence, explainability, access controls and accountable human review.
