Yes—the $15 Mint Mobile Unlimited promotion is real. But it is a prepaid introductory price, not a permanent $15 monthly bill. New customers pay $45 for three months, $90 for six months, or $180 for 12 months, before taxes and fees. After that first term, the regular renewal price applies, and “unlimited” data remains subject to congestion management, hotspot limits and SD video streaming.
What the $15 Mint offer actually costs
Mint describes the promotion as $15 per month, but the service is prepaid. You pay for the entire selected term at checkout rather than being charged $15 each month.
| Initial term | Payment at signup | Advertised equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $45 | $15 per month |
| 6 months | $90 | $15 per month |
| 12 months | $180 | $15 per month |
Taxes and carrier fees are extra. Mint’s promotion page says the offer began July 1, 2026, is available to new customers online while supplies last, and can change without notice. See the current terms at Mint’s promotion help page and the promotional terms.
Who can get it—and when activation must happen
The promotion is aimed at new Mint customers. The published terms do not promise eligibility to current or former customers, so check the offer shown in your account or at checkout rather than assuming a previous Mint line qualifies.

Mint says a purchased plan generally must be activated within 45 days. If you need longer, contact support before that window expires. You can normally bring a compatible, unlocked phone, choose a new number or transfer an existing number; the checkout and activation screens determine the available options.
What “unlimited” means on Mint
Mint includes unlimited smartphone data, but it does not promise unlimited premium-speed performance in every situation. Its current plan and help pages say customers using more than 50GB in a monthly cycle may see reduced speeds for the rest of that cycle in some locations when the network is busy. A separate promotional-terms page still says the threshold is 40GB. Because Mint’s own pages conflict, review the terms displayed at checkout and retain a copy.

- Hotspot: Current plan pages specify up to 20GB of mobile-hotspot data. That is not unlimited tethering for home broadband.
- Video: Streaming is limited to SD, described on plan pages as approximately 480p.
- Congestion: A strong signal does not guarantee high speeds. Network management can apply in busy locations after the stated usage threshold.
Mint’s current disclosures are available at its plans page and the three-month plan page.
What happens when the introductory term ends
The $15 equivalent applies to the initial purchase only. Mint’s currently displayed Unlimited renewal pricing is higher and is also paid upfront:

| Renewal term | Displayed monthly equivalent | Total paid upfront |
|---|---|---|
| 3 months | $40 | $120 |
| 6 months | $35 | $210 |
| 12 months | $30 | $360 |
For example, a 12-month promotional purchase costs $180 before taxes and fees; renewing for another 12 months at the displayed rate would cost $360, or $180 more. Mint says customers can change plan durations for future renewals through the app or account portal, but changing terms does not preserve the introductory rate. Current 12-month details are shown at Mint’s 12-month plan page.
Which term makes sense?
| Your situation | More suitable term |
|---|---|
| You have not tested Mint or T-Mobile coverage | 3 months |
| You want a longer test without a full-year commitment | 6 months |
| You already trust coverage and can comfortably prepay | 12 months |
| You may move or switch carriers soon | 3 months |
The 12-month option gives the longest price lock and the lowest first-year equivalent, but it ties up $180 immediately. Mint describes a one-week period to request a refund under its existing returns policy; verify exclusions and the exact deadline before buying.

Coverage, phone compatibility and switching checklist
Mint operates as an MVNO on T-Mobile’s network. Coverage, speed and availability vary by location, so enter your ZIP code in Mint’s coverage checker and consider home, work, school and your regular commute. Congestion can affect performance even where signal strength looks good.
- Confirm that your phone is carrier-unlocked.
- Check the device with Mint’s compatibility tool.
- Choose eSIM only if the phone supports it and you can maintain connectivity during activation; a physical SIM is a useful fallback.
- Back up the phone before changing service.
- If porting a number, obtain the old carrier’s account number and transfer PIN, and use the correct billing ZIP code.
- Keep the old line active until Mint confirms the transfer.
- After activation, test calls, data, voicemail, banking logins, two-factor codes, iMessage and RCS.
Mint’s plan page lists physical SIM and eSIM options: view the current activation choices.
Best Value
- STAY CONNECTED WORLDWIDE: Unlimited calling from the U.S. to 90+ international destinations including India, Mexico, Canada, China, the U.K. and more.
- RELIABLE NATIONWIDE COVERAGE: Enjoy 8GB of high-speed 5G/4G LTE data on the T-Mobile 5G Network.
- TRAVEL ACROSS NORTH AMERICA: Unlimited talk and text in Mexico and Canada plus international roaming credit.
- BRING YOUR OWN PHONE: Activate your compatible unlocked phone with the included 3-in-1 SIM card or eSIM. Keep your number or get a new one.
- NO CONTRACTS: Prepaid wireless with no annual contracts, no credit checks, and no hidden fees.
International travel is a separate product
Domestic unlimited data does not mean unlimited roaming abroad. Mint sells Minternational Passes for travel in more than 180 countries, subject to country and service restrictions:
- 3-day pass: $10 with 3GB of high-speed data.
- 10-day pass: $20 with 10GB of high-speed data.
- 30-day no-data pass: $5.
International calling benefits and roaming data are different. Passes may not cover every destination, cruise or airline connection. Check the country list and exclusions at Mint’s international-travel help page.
How this differs from the 2025 headline
The widely circulated June 16, 2025 deal described a three-month purchase at $45, with 35GB of high-speed data and 10GB of hotspot data. That coverage is historical. Mint’s 2026 promotion covers three-, six- and 12-month terms, while its currently surfaced plan pages list up to 20GB of hotspot data and a 40GB/50GB threshold discrepancy. The original article is available at Android Headlines.
Who should—and should not—switch
Mint is a strong fit if you:
- Get reliable T-Mobile coverage where you live and travel.
- Can pay $45, $90 or $180 upfront.
- Own a compatible unlocked phone.
- Use substantial smartphone data but less than 20GB of hotspot data.
- Accept possible slowdowns in congested locations.
- Will calendar the renewal date and reassess the higher price.
Look elsewhere if you:
- Depend on hotspot service as a home-internet replacement.
- Regularly exceed roughly 40–50GB in busy areas.
- Require consistently high-resolution video or predictable priority during congestion.
- Need extensive included international roaming.
- Have weak T-Mobile coverage or strongly prefer ordinary monthly postpaid billing.
- Do not want to pay the renewal price after the promotion.
Bottom line
Mint’s $15 Unlimited promotion is genuine and compelling for a new customer who has tested T-Mobile coverage, owns an unlocked phone and can prepay. Treat $15 as a first-term equivalent, not a permanent bill: the upfront charge, taxes, hotspot and video limits, conflicting 40GB/50GB language and substantially higher renewal price are the details that determine whether switching is worthwhile.
