Yes—you can dropship on Squarespace, but Squarespace is the storefront, not the supplier. You connect a third-party service such as Printful, Printify, Spocket, Syncee or ShipBob; that provider supplies, makes, stores or ships the products. You remain responsible for pricing, taxes, policies, customer service and refunds.
Squarespace is strongest for a small, design-led brand—especially print-on-demand. It is less suitable for a large catalog, complex inventory rules, multiple suppliers or high-volume multichannel operations.
What dropshipping on Squarespace actually means
Squarespace does not inspect, manufacture or ordinarily ship your products. Its documented integrations connect your store to outside fulfillment services (Squarespace fulfillment extensions). The provider’s catalog, stock, production, delivery and return rules remain separate from Squarespace.
| Model | Does the seller hold inventory? | Typical providers | Best fit | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Print-on-demand | No | Printful, Printify | Original artwork, apparel and branded merchandise | Higher unit cost and provider-dependent quality |
| General-product dropshipping | No | Spocket, Syncee | Curated home, beauty, accessory or pet products | Stock changes, generic products and uncertain delivery |
| Third-party fulfillment | Usually yes | ShipBob | Validated products that you want outsourced | You finance inventory and storage |
Squarespace describes Spocket as offering suppliers in the United States, Europe and Asia, and Syncee as a sourcing and synchronization service. Those descriptions are provider positioning, not an independent guarantee of supplier quality.
#1 Best Overall
Is Squarespace a good platform for dropshipping?
Choose it when presentation matters
- You have a focused catalog and a clear audience.
- Your advantage is design, photography, education or storytelling.
- You want a content-led site with a relatively simple fulfillment workflow.
- You are starting with print-on-demand and can tolerate higher per-unit costs.
Consider another platform when operations dominate
A commerce-first platform such as Shopify is generally more practical for extensive automation, multichannel selling, large catalogs and complex inventory workflows. WooCommerce offers deeper WordPress and hosting control, but you manage hosting, security, updates and plugins. Marketplaces such as Etsy, Amazon and eBay can provide demand but impose marketplace fees and policies while giving you less control of the customer relationship.
Current Squarespace plans and the costs to budget
Squarespace’s current plan names are Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced; older guides using Personal, Business, Commerce Basic or Commerce Advanced describe legacy names (current plan structure). Its U.S. FAQ says plans start at $19 per month when billed annually and include a 14-day trial, but your checkout price depends on location, billing interval and plan (pricing; FAQ).
| Plan | Practical use | U.S. domestic-card processing signal (August 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Small shop; verify current commerce fees and integrations at checkout | Rate and commerce fee depend on current plan terms |
| Core | Integrations, discounts, analytics, automatic tax features, shipping labels or custom code | 2.9% + $0.30; no Squarespace commerce transaction fee listed |
| Plus | More capacity and lower processing cost for established sales | 2.7% + $0.30; no commerce transaction fee listed |
| Advanced | Higher-volume operation where additional capabilities justify the subscription | 2.5% + $0.30; no commerce transaction fee listed |
These are U.S. signals, not universal rates; country, card type and payment method change the result (Squarespace fee guidance). Your fulfillment subscription is separate. Also budget for a domain, samples, design, advertising, refunds, currency conversion, tax services and customer support.

How the money and order flow work
- A customer chooses a product and pays the price shown on your Squarespace checkout.
- Squarespace and your payment processor record the order and customer payment.
- The connected provider imports or receives the order.
- The provider charges your fulfillment billing method for production or product cost, shipping and applicable taxes.
- The provider makes, picks, packs and ships the order; tracking may sync back.
- You remain the customer’s visible seller and handle questions, refunds, replacements and chargebacks.
For Printful, Squarespace explains that the customer pays your retail price while Printful separately charges you for materials, printing and shipping (Printful integration guide). A connected order is not automatically profit.

What to prepare before connecting a provider
- A Squarespace commerce-enabled site and store page.
- A provider account and a billing card or wallet.
- A domain, brand identity, product artwork or selected catalog.
- Payment processing through Squarespace Payments, Stripe or PayPal.
- Shipping zones, rates and delivery promises.
- Tax settings and records for taxable sales, refunds and collected tax.
- Terms, privacy, returns, refund and customer-service pages.
- A sample-order and test-checkout plan.
Printful setup: a practical walkthrough
1. Create the store connection
- Open Squarespace’s Custom merch panel, or create a store page.
- Select Connect and create a store page if prompted.
- Name the store and choose whether it appears in main navigation.
- Authorize Squarespace and Printful, then confirm the correct store is connected.
The integration supports custom-printed, embroidered and engraved products. Printful’s compatibility guidance lists Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced plans (plan requirements).
2. Build and publish products
- Select Add product in Printful or the Custom merch panel.
- Choose the blank product, upload artwork or add text, and review the mockup.
- Select colors, sizes and variants, then set your retail price.
- Push the product to Squarespace and inspect the resulting page.
Check the title, description, variant names, size chart, image cropping, accessibility text, weight, provider cost, shipping profile and destination availability before publishing.

3. Add fulfillment billing
Add a payment method in the provider dashboard. Without it, an order can reach your store but fail when production or shipment is charged.
4. Configure payments, tax and policies
Connect your payment processor separately from provider billing. Configure location-based tax rules or automatic calculations where available, but do not assume the provider resolves your sales-tax, VAT, GST, resale-certificate or nexus obligations. Verify business registration, product-safety, intellectual-property, privacy and consumer-protection requirements for every market.

Supplier and product selection
Evaluate the provider
- Production or warehouse location relative to your buyers.
- Separate processing time from transit time, with trackable carriers.
- Samples, quality consistency and packaging or branding options.
- Variant availability, synchronization of stock and prices, and cancellation handling.
- Defect, return and replacement rules, including required evidence.
- A backup supplier or replacement product for important items.
- Total delivered cost rather than the advertised base price.
Choose products that can support a margin
Start with a clear audience, low breakage risk, manageable size, simple variants and limited regulatory complexity. Avoid counterfeit or unlicensed designs, medical claims, safety-critical goods, fragile products, unverified batteries and items whose shipping cost approaches their selling price. Order samples before advertising.

Price for contribution margin, not a markup shortcut
Use this formula for each product or typical order:
Contribution margin = retail price − product or production cost − supplier shipping − payment fee − Squarespace transaction fee (if applicable) − expected refunds and support − tax absorbed by you − advertising cost − packaging or branding.
For a variable model:
| Retail price | $P |
| Provider product cost | −$C |
| Provider shipping | −$S |
| Payment fee | −(percentage × order value + fixed fee) |
| Transaction fee, if applicable | −$T |
| Refund/support allowance | −$R |
| Advertising cost per order | −$A |
| Estimated contribution | $M |
Printful says its product price generally includes the blank product, one print or embroidery placement and fulfillment; shipping, taxes and extra features are separate (pricing). Printful Growth is listed at $24.99 per month and becomes free after $12,000 in annual sales on that page. Printify lists a $0 Free plan and Premium from $39 monthly or $24.99 monthly billed annually; it advertises discounts of up to 33%, which only help if savings exceed the subscription cost (Printify pricing).

Shipping, taxes and mixed carts
Connecting an extension does not finish your customer-facing shipping setup. Squarespace says you still configure rates after connecting a fulfillment service. Options include free shipping funded through your price, flat rates, weight-based rates, separate fulfillment profiles and restricted zones.
Printify documents free, flat-rate and weight-based approaches and notes that a Squarespace flat rate may not match each provider’s product-specific charge. Its example of $4.75 for the first U.S. shirt and $2.40 for an additional shirt is product-, destination- and date-specific, not a universal rate (shipping guidance).
If you combine self-fulfilled and dropshipped items, create fulfillment profiles and test a mixed cart. International orders can add duties, import taxes, VAT or GST, restrictions, longer delivery, returned parcels and different cancellation rights. Launch in a region your provider clearly supports, then expand after testing.
Pre-launch test and operating controls
- Place a real or provider-supported test order on mobile and desktop.
- Confirm the correct variant, price, tax and shipping charge.
- Check that the order reaches the provider and charges the intended billing method.
- Verify production, tracking and customer emails use your brand correctly.
- Test cancellation, refund, replacement and address-correction procedures.
- Test a mixed cart if you sell self-fulfilled products.
After launch, review stock, prices, failed imports, disconnected integrations, variant mapping and tracking. Keep a manual order-review queue, a cancellation template, a backup supplier and a customer notification template.

- Undercharged shipping: your margin absorbs the difference; revise profiles or price.
- Overcharged or duplicated shipping: customers abandon or complain; test combinations and zones.
- Supplier stockout or price change: pause the listing, offer a substitute or refund promptly.
- Quality or wrong-size complaint: follow the provider’s evidence and replacement policy; you communicate with the buyer.
- Delayed or lost parcel: provide tracking updates and decide when to replace or refund.
- Chargeback: preserve product descriptions, delivery evidence and customer communications.
Dropshipping removes routine inventory handling, not product research, merchandising, marketing, compliance, customer service or cash-flow management.
Squarespace decision framework
- Choose Squarespace for a polished, content-rich brand, a small catalog and straightforward print-on-demand or one-provider fulfillment.
- Choose Shopify when apps, automation, multichannel sales and complex operations are central.
- Choose WooCommerce when WordPress integration, hosting control and custom workflows outweigh technical maintenance.
- Use a provider-hosted storefront to test products quickly when full brand and content control is less important.
Start with one provider and a small catalog. Do not scale paid traffic until a sample meets your quality standard and a complete test order succeeds.
