Availability warning: These prices were reported at 8:41 a.m. PT on February 27, 2025. They are a historical deal snapshot, not live August 2026 offers. Apple’s lineup and street prices have since moved into the M5 generation, so use the figures below to understand the deal—not as a promise of today’s checkout price.

MacBook Air: what the “$420 off” claim actually meant
The featured deal was a 15-inch M3 MacBook Air with 16GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD for $1,279. The immediate comparison was $1,499, making the active saving $220. The larger $420 figure compared the sale price with an earlier $1,699 original price.
That difference arose after Apple increased the baseline memory from 8GB to 16GB without raising the then-current price. Calling the deal “$420 off” is therefore accurate only against that earlier price, not against the active $1,499 list price.

The 15-inch 16GB/512GB version was highlighted because it had fallen another $20 from the outlet’s previous mention. Sixteen gigabytes was the practical sweet spot for multitasking, and Apple-silicon memory cannot be upgraded later. Paying for 24GB makes sense when your applications regularly consume more memory; otherwise, storage capacity may be the more useful upgrade.
Who should have bought it?
- Good match: shoppers wanting a larger display, quiet everyday performance, coding, photo work or light video editing at a reduced price.
- Less compelling: buyers prioritizing the longest support horizon or who could get a newer-generation Air for a similar street price.
- Check before buying: whether the unit is new, refurbished or marketplace-sold, and whether its warranty and return path meet your needs.
The M3 Air was already an outgoing generation in the source’s February 2025 framing. By July and August 2026, deal coverage was centered on M5 MacBook Air models, so an M3 is sensible only when the price gap is substantial.

48GB M4 Pro MacBook Pro: who benefits from the premium?
The high-end offer was a 16-inch MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip, 48GB unified memory and a 512GB SSD for $2,591 shipped. The listed comparison was $2,899, a $308 reduction. The outlet’s deal tracker called it an all-time low; that is a tracker-specific historical claim, not a guarantee that every retailer reached the same price.
Workloads that can justify 48GB
- Large software projects with multiple development environments
- Virtual machines and containerized services
- Professional video, audio, image or 3D workflows
- Large datasets and sustained, simultaneous multitasking
Web browsing, office work, schoolwork and ordinary creative tasks generally do not require 48GB. The 512GB SSD also deserves scrutiny: it can be restrictive for local media libraries or large project files, even when memory capacity is excellent. The 16-inch chassis is powerful but substantially less travel-friendly than an Air.
Rank #3
- LEAN. MEAN. M3 MACHINE — With a powerful 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU, the blazing-fast MacBook Air with M3 chip is a superportable laptop that sails through work and play.
- BUILT FOR APPLE INTELLIGENCE—Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that helps you write, express yourself, and get things done effortlessly. With groundbreaking privacy protections, it gives you peace of mind that no one else can access your data—not even Apple.*
- PORTABLE DESIGN — Lightweight and under half an inch thin, so you can take MacBook Air anywhere you go.
- UP TO 18 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE — Amazing, all-day battery life so you can leave the power adapter at home.
- A BRILLIANT DISPLAY — The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display supports 1 billion colors.
For a current comparison, later July 2026 coverage reported a 16-inch M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 48GB/1TB at $3,299 against a reported $3,599 reference price, and an M5 Max 48GB/1TB at $3,999 against $4,399. Those figures show why a 2025 M4 deal should be judged against current-generation pricing, not an old MSRP alone.
Magic Keyboard deals were iPad Pro cases—not desktop keyboards
“Magic Keyboard” in this roundup meant Apple’s keyboard cases for the M4 iPad Pro. The cited Best Buy listings were open-box products at these reported prices:
Rank #4
- Key Features Apple M3 8-Core Chip 8GB Unified RAM | 256GB SSD
- 13.6" 2560 x 1664 Liquid Retina Display 8-Core GPU | 16-Core Neural Engine

| Size and color | Open-box price | Regular price |
|---|---|---|
| 11-inch, black | $220 | $299 |
| 11-inch, white | $185 | $299 |
| 13-inch, black | $225 | $349 |
| 13-inch, white | $238 | $349 |
The source said the cited Best Buy units were Geek Squad-verified, restored to factory settings and covered by a one-year Apple warranty. Those statements belong to the specific retailer listings; verify Apple coverage by serial number and read the exact return policy before paying. Open-box cosmetic condition can vary, and 11-inch and 13-inch cases are not interchangeable.
Best Buy versus Woot
Woot was reported to have M4 iPad Pro Magic Keyboard units from $279.99 for Prime shipping, plus a $6 delivery fee. The roundup described much of that inventory as older or refurbished and cited a 90-day warranty. Best Buy’s open-box prices were lower on some sizes and carried the source’s claimed Apple-warranty advantage, but listing-level verification remains essential. Amazon availability was described as limited or affected by stock issues.

For occasional typing, a less expensive Bluetooth keyboard or folio may be better value. The case adds considerable cost and weight to an already expensive iPad.

How to evaluate an old deal today
- Identify the exact configuration. Match chip, screen size, memory and storage; “48GB MacBook Pro” alone is incomplete.
- Compare with current street prices. Use Apple’s MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iPad keyboard pages, plus reputable retailer listings.
- Check condition and seller. Distinguish new, refurbished, renewed and open-box inventory, and confirm who fulfills the order.
- Verify warranty and returns. For an open-box Apple accessory, check coverage on the individual serial number; for an expensive Mac, confirm the return window before purchase.
- Account for the complete price. Add delivery fees, taxes and any marketplace charges. Woot’s cited example included a $6 delivery fee.
Archived February 2025 prices can still help measure how aggressive a discount was, but they should not be mistaken for a live buying recommendation in 2026.
