The best-documented low price was an Apple Watch SE 2 40mm GPS at $129, but NBC Select later described that Walmart listing as $120 off $169.99, or 24%.
This is therefore a historical deal report, not a live shopping page. It preserves the configurations and prices shoppers could find during Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025 and explains which discounts represented the best value.
What was the “36% off” Apple Watch deal?
No surviving source in the published Black Friday coverage establishes the complete configuration behind the 36% headline. That percentage should not be attached to every Apple Watch, or silently substituted for the better-documented $129 offer.
NBC Select’s December 1, 2025 update listed the Apple Watch SE 2, 40mm, GPS at $129 at Walmart, reduced from a stated $169.99—a $40 reduction, or 24% against that reference price. The listing used a Midnight aluminum case and Midnight Sport Band (S/M): Walmart product page. MacRumors also reported $129 for the 40mm GPS SE 2 and called it an all-time low, while earlier coverage showed the same generation at $159.99 against a stated $249 reference price. Those changing reference prices are why a percentage must always be tied to a dated listing.

The defensible conclusion is that “36% off” referred to a particular retailer/configuration calculation, not a universal Apple Watch Black Friday discount. Every offer below was time-limited, and some had limited inventory.

Cheapest: Apple Watch SE 2
At $129, the 40mm GPS SE 2 was the lowest documented upfront price. It covers notifications, workouts, sleep tracking, calls, texts, and basic safety features. Its trade-off is age: verify the exact iPhone and watchOS requirements before purchase, and expect a shorter remaining support horizon than an SE 3.

Best newer budget choice: Apple Watch SE 3
The $199.99 40mm and $229.99 44mm GPS prices were about 20% below Apple’s stated $249 and $279 starting prices—not 36% off. If the gap to an SE 2 was only roughly $40–$70, the newer platform was the more sensible long-term purchase.

Series 11 discounts generally ran about $49–$60. Choose it when you want the standard current Series model and its additional health, display, and performance features rather than the lowest possible price. Always distinguish 42mm from 46mm and GPS from cellular.
Best premium value: Apple Watch Ultra 2
The reported $599 price for a 49mm GPS + Cellular configuration was $200 below $799. It suited buyers prioritizing battery life, durability, outdoor use, and premium materials. Its size, weight, and cellular-plan requirement made it a poor value for casual or small-wrist users.

The approximately $699.99 Black Titanium/Ocean Band configuration appealed to buyers who specifically wanted the newest Ultra generation. A newer model was not automatically better value than an Ultra 2 at $599; compare the feature changes, warranty, connectivity, and total cost.
Large-screen clearance: Series 10 46mm
The reported $279 Walmart price delivered a $150 reduction and a larger display for less than the contemporary Series 11. It was compelling if remaining inventory was new and covered by a normal retailer warranty.

Most documented reductions came from Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy rather than a direct Apple Black Friday markdown. GPS versus GPS + Cellular
GPS models are normally cheaper and use the paired iPhone or Wi-Fi for many connected functions. GPS + Cellular models can operate more independently but may require a compatible carrier plan and recurring monthly charges. A larger dollar discount on an LTE watch is not necessarily a better deal once service costs and activation terms are included.
Why the full configuration matters
Case size, aluminum versus titanium, connectivity, color, and band size can all change the price. “Series 11 for $339” is incomplete without the 42mm GPS specification, retailer, date, and included band. A 40mm GPS SE 2 cannot be compared directly with a 46mm cellular Series 11 or a 49mm titanium Ultra.

- Record the exact model number, generation, case size, connectivity, case material, color, and band.
- Compare the checkout price with the manufacturer’s MSRP, the retailer’s immediately preceding price, and the lowest recent price.
- Check competing retailers for the identical configuration, not merely the same product family.
- Confirm whether membership, coupon, trade-in, carrier activation, or a new line is required.
- Check that the listing is new and sold by the retailer or a reputable seller, rather than refurbished, open-box, or marketplace inventory.
- Confirm stock status and the holiday return deadline before paying. Doorbuster quantities could be limited.
NBC Select said it required at least a 15% discount, strong customer ratings, and price-history checks using tools including CamelCamelCamel. That methodology is more informative than a retailer’s percentage alone.

Compatibility, activation, warranty, and returns
- Check Apple’s current minimum iPhone and operating-system requirements for the exact generation; older watches may not support the newest watchOS release.
- Verify carrier compatibility before buying an LTE model and calculate the ongoing plan cost.
- Confirm the retailer’s holiday return period, warranty coverage, and seller identity.
- For used or refurbished devices, check battery health and ensure Activation Lock has been removed from the previous Apple Account.
- Keep the receipt and record the model number in case a return, warranty claim, or carrier issue arises.
What the 2025 prices mean now
As of August 18, 2026, these Black Friday prices are historical. Apple’s current buying page lists the Series 11 from $399, SE 3 from $249, and Ultra 3 from $700: Apple’s current lineup. Do not present a 2025 affiliate link as a live bargain or assume that old inventory has the same warranty or availability.
For historical value, the clearest winners were the SE 2 at $129 for absolute lowest cost, the SE 3 at about $199.99 for newer budget hardware, the Series 10 at $249/$279 for aggressive clearance, and the Ultra 2 at $599 for premium capability. The “36% off” label alone does not establish which of those was the better purchase.
