Xfinity’s New Internet Plans Include a Free Mobile Line—But Only for 12 Months

Qualifying new Xfinity Internet customers can get one Mobile Select line free for 12 months—but the credit ends, internet eligibility continues, and phones cost extra. Here’s how to calculate the real deal.

Yes—qualifying new Xfinity Internet customers can receive one Xfinity Mobile Select line at no service charge for 12 months. It is a promotional bill credit, not a permanently free phone plan. After the credit ends, Mobile Select is listed at $30 per month per line when paired with Xfinity Internet, plus applicable taxes and fees. Eligibility, pricing and the promotion’s end date depend on your service address and order details.

What Xfinity is offering

The bundle combines qualifying residential Xfinity Internet with one Mobile Select wireless line. Comcast’s June 2025 national announcement described four tiers—300 Mbps, 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps—with unlimited data, an Xfinity WiFi Gateway and one unlimited Xfinity Mobile line included for the first year. The announcement’s details are useful context, but current storefront pricing and availability are address-specific. See Comcast’s announcement.

Current Xfinity pages prominently show a 300 Mbps offer at $40 per month on reviewed addresses, with one Mobile Select line credited for 12 months. Some official pages display July 21, 2026 as the promotion deadline, while another displays August 24, 2026. Treat the date and price shown after entering your address and at checkout as controlling. See the current Mobile plan page.

Internet tiers announced in 2025

Speed One-year guarantee launch price Five-year guarantee launch price Everyday launch price
300 Mbps $40/month $55/month $70/month
500 Mbps $55/month $70/month $85/month
1 Gbps $70/month $85/month $100/month
2 Gbps $100/month $115/month $130/month

These were launch prices announced in 2025, not a promise of today’s price at your address. Equipment, billing requirements, taxes and fees can change the total.

What Mobile Select includes

Mobile Select is the line covered by the promotion. Xfinity lists unlimited U.S. talk and text, unlimited domestic data, high-definition streaming, international data in more than 200 destinations and WiFi PowerBoost on compatible Xfinity WiFi connections. The plan includes up to 50 GB of premium data in a billing cycle; during congestion, speeds may be temporarily deprioritized after that threshold. Destination-specific international limits and speeds apply. Comcast describes network and hotspot capabilities in its plan announcement.

Mobile Select is currently listed at $30 per month per line with Xfinity Internet after the promotional year. Mobile Plus is listed at $45 per line and adds features such as unlimited premium data, 4K streaming, eligible-device protection and upgrade benefits. The free credit is described as covering one Mobile Select line; upgrading to Mobile Plus would require confirming and paying any difference in the order flow.

Who qualifies

The internet and mobile requirements are separate. Current Xfinity disclosures generally require all of the following:

  • A new qualifying residential, postpaid Xfinity Internet account.
  • An internet tier of at least 300 Mbps.
  • New Xfinity Mobile phone-customer status; existing Xfinity Mobile customers may not qualify merely by changing speed or adding a line.
  • One eligible Mobile Select line.
  • Continued qualifying Xfinity Internet service.
  • No more than one promotional discount per account.

Internet Essentials, Internet Essentials Plus, NOW Internet and NOW WiFi Pass are identified as ineligible for certain current unlimited-mobile arrangements. Do not assume that every Xfinity-branded product qualifies; verify the exact plan in your order. Eligibility rules are summarized on Xfinity’s switching page and Xfinity support.

Hitron CODA56 Cable Internet Modem ONLY - DOCSIS 3.1 | 2.5 Gbps | NO WiFi - Requires Router | Xfinity/Spectrum/Cox Compatible | NOT for Fiber/DSL
  • ⚠️ CABLE INTERNET ONLY - NOT COMPATIBLE WITH: Fiber (Verizon FiOS, AT&T), DSL, Satellite, or Fixed Wireless. ONLY works with cable providers like Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox. Verify your internet type BEFORE purchase.
  • 🚫 NO WiFi INCLUDED - ROUTER REQUIRED: This is a modem ONLY. You MUST buy a separate WiFi router to get wireless internet. Without a router, only ONE device can connect via Ethernet cable. This does NOT replace your current WiFi router.
  • 🔌 CABLE INTERNET REQUIRED: Works EXCLUSIVELY with cable internet service (DOCSIS) from providers like Xfinity, Spectrum, or Cox. Will NOT work with fiber (Verizon FiOS, AT&T), DSL, satellite, or fixed wireless internet. Contact your ISP to confirm compatibility BEFORE purchasing.
  • 🚀 MULTI-GIG PERFORMANCE: Supports internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps with 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. Designed for plans 1 Gbps and faster from certified providers: Xfinity (up to 2.33 Gbps), Spectrum (1 Gbps), Cox (2 Gbps). Verify your plan speed and provider compatibility.
  • 💡 SETUP REQUIREMENTS: You need: (1) Cable internet service, (2) Separate WiFi router with 2.5 Gbps port for full speeds, (3) ISP activation. This modem cannot create WiFi networks or connect multiple devices without additional equipment.

What “free” means on your bill

The promotion is a credit equal to the listed value of one Mobile Select line—currently $30 per month—for 12 monthly billing cycles. The line can appear at its regular price with a matching credit reducing the service charge to zero. Taxes and regulatory fees may still apply.

The credit does not automatically pay for a handset, device financing, accessories, insurance, activation charges, international extras or additional lines. A phone can be brought from another carrier if compatible, activated by eSIM where supported, or purchased separately from Xfinity. The nominal value of twelve $30 credits is $360, but that is not necessarily your net savings: a qualifying internet plan may cost more than an internet-only alternative, and device or activation costs can offset the credit.

What changes after month 12

After the final credit, Mobile Select is listed at $30 per line per month with Xfinity Internet; Mobile Plus is listed at $45. Taxes and fees remain separate. You can cancel or change mobile service, but cancelling or downgrading the required internet service can end mobile eligibility or change the mobile rate. Xfinity states that Xfinity Internet is required for Xfinity Mobile.

Xfinity also advertises a “save $840” comparison. That figure is based on Xfinity’s selected competing plans and assumptions, not a guaranteed saving for every household. Compare your actual address-specific internet price, current wireless bill, taxes, device payments and post-promotion rate instead.

  • 32 downstream x 8 upstream DOCSIS 3.0 bonded channels, or 2 downstream x 2 upstream OFDM DOCSIS 3.1 channels.
  • Two 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports

Do you need to switch wireless carriers?

Yes, if you want to use the included line. Xfinity Mobile is a separate wireless service, not a discount applied to an existing Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile line.

You can port an existing number, bring a compatible phone or buy one from Xfinity. For a port, obtain your current carrier’s account number, transfer PIN and billing ZIP code. Keep the old account active until Xfinity activation succeeds and calls and texts work; cancelling first can cause the number transfer to fail. Xfinity says eSIM activation can be nearly immediate on supported devices, while physical-SIM activation requires inserting the SIM. Porting and device options are described at Xfinity’s switching page.

Is the bundle a good deal?

Use a total-cost comparison rather than the headline “free” label. Build the following worksheet for at least the first 24 months:

Cost item What to enter
Internet during the guarantee Your address-specific monthly price and guarantee period
Mobile service, months 1–12 Mobile Select charge minus the promotional credit
Taxes and fees Amounts shown in the order summary and bills
Device and activation Phone payments, device taxes, activation and accessories
Mobile service from month 13 $30/month for Mobile Select at the listed rate, unless terms change
Alternative Internet-only service plus your current carrier or prepaid wireless

The bundle is strongest when

  • You already want Xfinity Internet at the quoted address.
  • Your household needs a new line and can use a compatible phone.
  • The internet price remains competitive after any guarantee expires.
  • You are willing to reassess the line before month 13.
  • Xfinity WiFi access and PowerBoost are useful to you.

Look elsewhere when

  • You do not need another wireless line.
  • Internet-only service from another provider is materially cheaper.
  • You would finance an expensive phone solely to obtain the promotion.
  • You need consistently high-priority data in congested areas.
  • You want mobile service that does not depend on keeping Xfinity Internet.

Important catches

Existing customers may be excluded

The offer is generally aimed at new Xfinity Mobile phone customers. A current Xfinity Mobile subscriber should not assume that changing internet tiers or adding a line triggers the credit.

The phone is not free

A service credit and a free handset are different promotions. Device offers may require a trade-in, financing agreement, a specific plan or other conditions. Review those terms independently of the Mobile Select credit.

Internet cancellation can affect mobile

Xfinity Mobile requires Xfinity Internet. Cancelling, downgrading or moving the internet account can remove the eligibility that supports the mobile rate or credit.

The deadline is inconsistent online

Official pages reviewed show July 21 and August 24, 2026 as different end dates. Save the date printed in your address-specific offer and order confirmation rather than relying on a general webpage.

Company performance claims are not independent tests

Xfinity advertises more than 20 million WiFi hotspots, reliable 5G service and WiFi PowerBoost speeds up to 1 Gbps on compatible connections. Those are company claims; local coverage, congestion and device compatibility determine your experience.

ARRIS SURFboard SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem | Up to 1 Gbps Plans
  • Multi‑Gig speed for today & tomorrow: DOCSIS 3.1 performance supports cable internet plans up to 2 Gbps, delivering ultra‑fast streaming, gaming, and downloads.
  • Save on rental fees: Own your modem and avoid monthly equipment charges—check with your cable provider for plan compatibility.
  • Compact, modern design: Space‑saving footprint with discrete LED indicators for power, upstream/downstream, and online status.
  • Easy setup: Connect cable, power on, and activate with your cable provider. Then connect a Wi‑Fi router to the Ethernet port for home Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Modem only: This cable modem requires a separate Wi-Fi router or mesh system for home Wi-Fi network.

How to sign up safely

  1. Enter your service address on Xfinity’s internet-and-mobile deals page or internet storefront.
  2. Choose an internet tier of at least 300 Mbps.
  3. Confirm that the order explicitly says one Mobile Select line is credited for 12 months.
  4. Select porting, bring-your-own-device or a separate phone purchase.
  5. Read the order summary for the internet price, guarantee term, equipment charge, autopay or paperless-billing conditions, activation fees, device financing, taxes and the credit’s end date.
  6. Keep your old wireless account active while the number port is pending.
  7. After activation, test calls, texts and data, then verify the promotional credit on the first bill.
  8. Set a reminder for month 11 to compare the upcoming $30 Mobile Select charge with alternatives.

Alternatives to compare

If you do not need the included line, compare an internet-only Xfinity plan plus your existing carrier or prepaid service. Households seeking a single-provider bundle can also price T-Mobile home internet with wireless, Verizon home internet with wireless, or AT&T internet with wireless. Xfinity’s comparisons reference T-Mobile Essentials, Verizon Unlimited Welcome and AT&T Extra 2.0, but those are company-selected, date-specific comparisons rather than universal market prices.

Xfinity also advertises NOW Mobile at $25 per month for unlimited talk, text and data on a prepaid basis. It is positioned as no-contract and no-credit-check service, but it is not the qualifying postpaid Mobile Select promotion and does not substitute for the internet requirement.

Bottom line

Xfinity’s offer can lower first-year wireless costs if you already want qualifying 300 Mbps-or-faster internet and can use an additional line without buying an unnecessary phone. The line is free only through 12 monthly credits, the internet must remain eligible, and Mobile Select is currently listed at $30 per month after the promotion. Make the decision using your address-specific total, all device and fee charges, and the month-13 price—not the headline “free mobile” claim.
