Availability varies by market, restaurant and user eligibility.
The three DoorDash changes at a glance
| Product | Primary users | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| DoorDash for Creators | Approved U.S.-based creators | Places qualifying short restaurant videos inside DoorDash and pays a flat fee for approved in-app submissions |
| AI discovery | DoorDash customers | Personalized recommendations, menu smart tags and add-on suggestions |
| Going Out | Diners and participating restaurants | Dine-in discovery, in-store offers, repeat-visit rewards and reservations |
DoorDash framed the package as a move beyond delivery toward the broader restaurant journey: discovering a place, choosing what to order, visiting in person and returning later. The company’s overview is in its Dash Forward 2025 announcement.

How DoorDash for Creators works
- Visit the DoorDash creator application page and sign in with a DoorDash account.
- Submit an application and agree to the creator terms.
- Wait for DoorDash’s approval; applying is free, but acceptance is discretionary.
- Activate a HyperWallet account after approval.
- Submit videos that meet the program’s restaurant, length, originality and disclosure requirements.
- Receive payment through HyperWallet for qualifying videos DoorDash approves.
DoorDash’s U.S. FAQ says creators cannot fully participate or receive payment until HyperWallet is activated. Your legal name, address and tax-identification information must match IRS records. The current U.S. creator FAQ also limits the program to creators based in the United States, excluding U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Flat fees are not the same as affiliate commissions
DoorDash’s public creator page describes two tracks. The In-app Creator track pays a flat fee for approved restaurant videos displayed in DoorDash. The Affiliate Creator track pays commissions on orders generated through creator links. The reviewed public materials do not state a universal in-app fee or a current affiliate commission rate, so creators should not assume a standard payout.
#1 Best Overall
- Get thousands of restaurants, convenience stores, pet stores, grocery stores, gifts, and more at your fingertips.
- Easy ordering, order customizations, and real-time tracking
- Pickup, group order, and scheduled delivery options available
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
Video requirements and common rejection risks
The practical U.S. brief calls for short, food-led videos, generally 10 to 30 seconds. The creator agreement sets a separate 60-second maximum, so the shorter FAQ target is the safer production guide.
- Cover one local restaurant per video, preferably a small or medium-sized independent business.
- Make the food the main subject and show roughly two to four dishes, including an entrée when possible.
- Give an honest, respectful opinion based on your real experience.
- Use your own footage with voiceover or royalty-free music; copyrighted commercial music can lead to rejection.
- Do not submit national-chain or franchise restaurants under the current FAQ.
- Obtain permissions, releases and other rights needed for people, locations and materials shown.
- Follow FTC disclosure requirements and DoorDash’s content rules.
- Do not include generative-AI-created material in a submission without DoorDash’s prior written permission.
- Avoid restaurants with which you have a material connection, as restricted by the agreement.
Submission is not payment. DoorDash pays for content that qualifies and is approved, and it may change requirements or remove participants. The agreement’s terms are available at DoorDash for Creators Agreement.
Where the creator program launched
DoorDash’s September 2025 announcement named Atlanta, Austin, Miami and San Francisco among the initial creator-video cities. That was not evidence of a nationwide launch. The current FAQ’s U.S.-only rule and discretionary approval remain the key practical limits.

What DoorDash’s AI features do
Personalized recommendations
Recommendations use signals such as tastes and past orders to surface restaurants and dishes. DoorDash said this feature initially went live in San Francisco and Manhattan in the launch announcement; that statement describes launch-time availability, not guaranteed coverage in 2026.
Recommended Free Tools
Smart menu tags
AI-powered tags make menus easier to filter for characteristics such as vegetarian or high-protein items. They are discovery and categorization aids—not medical, nutrition or allergy guarantees. Check ingredients with the restaurant when an allergy or dietary restriction matters.
Complement Your Cart
This tool suggests relevant add-ons to an order. DoorDash said it was available nationwide at launch. Geographic coverage, labels and recommendations can change, and suggested items are not automatically the best-value choice.
Rank #3
- A huge selection fulfilling all your needs - food and more!
- Easy ordering & real-time tracking
- Customize your orders
- Pickup & group order options
- Physical gift cards are delivered active via mail.
Going Out brings delivery customers into restaurants
Going Out combines local restaurant discovery with in-store offers, rewards for repeat visits and reservations. DoorDash also described reservation credits that can be applied toward future DoorDash orders, plus additional DashPass benefits such as exclusive tables and extra rewards.
At launch, in-store rewards were available at thousands of restaurants in select U.S. and Australian markets, with an emphasis on DashPass members; DoorDash said all consumers could try the feature for a limited time. Reservations were initially planned for Miami and New York through SevenRooms, not everywhere.

That is a company-reported average, not an independently audited savings estimate. DoorDash also reported that, since February 2025, 80% of customers who tried Going Out visited a restaurant they had not previously ordered from. The statistic applies to people who tried the feature, not all DoorDash customers. See the Going Out announcement for the company’s definitions and launch details.
Rank #4

- Easy ordering, order customizations, and real-time tracking
- Pickup, group order, and scheduled delivery options available
- No returns and no refunds on gift cards.
What a reward does—and does not—mean
An offer or reservation credit is not necessarily a cash discount. Eligibility can depend on the restaurant, market, membership status, minimum spend, visit rules and redemption deadline. Compare the terms with what you would have spent without the promotion.

SevenRooms is the restaurant-facing infrastructure behind the announced reservation integration. For participating operators, DoorDash described:
- Distribution on DoorDash’s reservation marketplace, with no cover fees for reservations listed through that marketplace.
- Enriched guest profiles spanning delivery, pickup, walk-ins and reservations.
- Voice AI for phone calls, reservations, frequently asked questions and guest-profile updates.
- Digital event-management tools and marketing intended to encourage repeat visits.
These capabilities are not automatically available to every DoorDash merchant. Restaurants should review software pricing, data ownership, portability, marketing permissions and how voice AI handles cancellations, accessibility requests and complex occasions. “Zero cover fees” for marketplace reservations does not mean SevenRooms software is free. SevenRooms’ site is sevenrooms.com.

Who benefits—and who should be cautious?
Creators
The opportunity is access to DoorDash diners at the moment they are choosing a restaurant, with a separate affiliate route for creators who can drive orders from their own channels. The trade-offs are selective approval, undisclosed standardized rates, geographic limits, tax onboarding and the possibility that a video is rejected. Do not assume DoorDash will reimburse a meal unless your current program instructions expressly say so.
Diners
Visual videos, personalized search and menu filters can shorten the path from curiosity to a restaurant choice. But platform-curated creator content is not necessarily an independent review, and personalization may reinforce previous ordering habits. Treat tags as convenience features, verify dietary information and read reward conditions.
Restaurants
Going Out can create dine-in demand and connect reservations with delivery and pickup history. The costs and risks include software arrangements, discount impact, dependence on participating markets, uncertain incremental traffic and data-governance questions. Creator attention may also favor visually striking dishes and neighborhoods with more active creators.
What is not universal
- Creator videos are not automatically available in every city, and approval is not guaranteed.
- The in-app program is currently described as U.S.-only, excluding U.S. territories.
- AI recommendations, smart tags and cart suggestions may have different market coverage and names over time.
- Going Out rewards and reservations depend on participating restaurants, markets and membership terms.
- Miami and New York were the announced initial reservation markets; no universal expansion schedule was established in the cited materials.
- Public pages reviewed do not establish a universal creator payout or affiliate commission.
Why this matters for DoorDash
The strategy is to make DoorDash useful before, during and after a transaction. Creator videos supply fresh local discovery, AI ranks and organizes choices, and Going Out lets DoorDash participate when the customer eats at the restaurant instead of ordering delivery. SevenRooms extends that relationship to reservations, guest profiles and marketing. Success will depend on whether these additions generate genuinely incremental visits and useful recommendations rather than simply shifting activity between channels.

DoorDash’s September 30, 2025 rollout is a broader local-dining strategy: approved U.S. creators can submit paid short videos, AI tools personalize discovery and carts, and Going Out links dine-in rewards and reservations to the DoorDash ecosystem. Every element remains subject to market coverage, restaurant participation, approval and changing terms.
