Its best features are the slim curved AMOLED design, 2x telephoto for portraits, 50MP autofocus selfie camera, 5,000mAh battery and 80W charging. Its Dimensity 7300-Energy chip is adequate rather than fast, low-light and moving-subject photography can blur, and imported versions can create warranty, charger and carrier problems. Buy the exact regional model only after checking its price, bands, firmware, accessories and return rights.
What the Reno 12 Pro is—and who should buy it
Oppo positions the Reno line below its Find flagships and above its A-series phones. The Reno 12 Pro launched in 2024 around portrait photography, AI editing, a thin design, a curved AMOLED display, fast charging and battery endurance. “Pro” describes the camera and finish, not flagship-level processing.
- Buy it if you want a light phone, attractive display, 2x portrait camera, long battery life and very fast charging at a substantial discount.
- Compare first if gaming speed, clean Android, long support, consistent low-light photos or dependable US carrier service matters most.

Prices change, and the final cost of an import includes shipping, tax, duty, plug adapters and possible return postage. A phone advertised below local stock is not a bargain if it lacks usable warranty service or carrier certification. Oppo did not officially sell the model in the United States at launch, so US buyers should treat every import as a compatibility and support decision, not simply a cheaper purchase.

Design, display and durability
The 6.7-inch FHD+ flexible AMOLED uses a quad-curved presentation, narrow-looking bezels and a 120Hz refresh rate. At roughly 7.4mm and 180g, it feels easier to carry than many large phones. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 adds impact resistance, while reviews from Tech Advisor and TechRadar broadly like the screen and appearance.
Curved glass is a trade-off: it looks immersive but can produce accidental touches, complicate screen-protector installation and cost more to replace than a flat panel. IP65 means dust resistance and protection from water jets under test conditions—not submersion or “waterproof” use.
Performance and gaming
The Dimensity 7300-Energy handles messaging, browsers, streaming, office apps, multitasking and light-to-moderate games smoothly, helped by 12GB of physical RAM and a 120Hz panel. It is not a performance-phone chipset. Tech Advisor found gaming weaker than rivals, and Gadgets 360 placed it behind performance-focused alternatives such as the Realme GT 6T, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, OnePlus 12R and Xiaomi 14 Civi.

UFS 3.1 storage helps loading and file transfers. Any advertised “24GB RAM” combines 12GB physical memory with virtual expansion; it is not equivalent to a 24GB handset.
Camera review
Main and telephoto cameras
The stabilized 50MP main camera is strongest in daylight and ordinary point-and-shoot scenes. The dedicated 50MP 2x telephoto is the Pro model’s clearest hardware advantage: it gives portraits a useful framing distance and more flattering perspective than moving close with the main camera. It is a short-range 2x lens, not a flagship periscope zoom.
Ultrawide, selfies and video
The 8MP ultrawide works for landscapes and groups but is more likely to show softness, noise and weak low-light detail. The 50MP autofocus selfie camera has a wide field of view suited to group selfies and front-camera video. Rear recording reaches 4K at 30fps.
AI tools and limitations
Oppo promotes AI Eraser 2.0, Best Face, Clear Face, AI Studio, Smart Image Matting, Writer, Summary, Speak, Recording Summary, LinkBoost and Clear Voice. Availability depends on market, language, account and software version. These are editing and productivity conveniences, not proof of superior camera hardware. Reviews report good daylight, portraits and selfies, but motion blur, weaker low light and sometimes slow AI processing; Pixel phones can be more consistent for computational photography.

Battery and 80W charging
The 5,000mAh typical battery is a major strength. Oppo claims a 1–100% charge in about 46 minutes under its stated conditions; temperature, starting level, usage and charger affect the result. DXOMARK’s battery test provides measured context, but no test can predict every owner’s endurance.
Box contents vary. The Indian specification lists a charger, while Tech Advisor reported that its review unit did not include one. Confirm the exact retailer package and remember that maximum 80W speed requires compatible Oppo/VOOC equipment.

ColorOS offers extensive customization, notification and file tools, plus the AI features above. Reviews also criticize preinstalled apps and bloatware. Oppo India announced three years of OS updates and four years of security updates for the series; treat that as the announced policy for the relevant market, not a guarantee for every imported firmware. Check the phone’s installed Android and ColorOS versions because specifications can change after updates.
Other features include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, infrared remote control, dual-SIM support and USB-C. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and microSD availability are model-dependent.

Regional compatibility: the checks international buyers cannot skip
The Indian CPH2629 specification lists LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/26/28/66 and 5G n77/n78/n38/n40/n41/n1/n2/n3/n5/n7/n8/n12/n20/n26/n28/n66. Band numbers alone do not guarantee VoLTE provisioning, 5G access, carrier certification or IMEI acceptance. US buyers should obtain the exact model number and ask the carrier to confirm support before ordering.
- Confirm the model number, region and firmware.
- Confirm whether the storage is 12GB/256GB or 12GB/512GB.
- Compare the full band list with your carrier.
- Verify local warranty, Google Play certification and return shipping.
- Confirm charger, plug, NFC and SIM/microSD configuration.
- For refurbished stock, request battery health, IMEI and replacement-part disclosure.

When is it a good deal?
Use the 2024 launch prices as ceilings, not targets. A 2026 Reno 12 Pro should be meaningfully cheaper than newer phones with faster chips. The strongest purchase is a locally supported 512GB model at a clear discount with the charger and return rights included. An import is only a conditional buy after model, bands, firmware, warranty and delivered cost are verified. Skip an offer near newer competitors, with unclear firmware, no usable warranty or a suspiciously low price.
The Bottom Line
Verdict: Buy the Reno 12 Pro for discounted portrait photography, design, battery and charging—not for gaming speed or flagship camera consistency. A verified, locally supported 512GB phone can be compelling; an unclear import or full-price listing is not.
