NOW Internet is marketed on Comcast’s current site from $30 per month, while NOW Mobile is available only to customers with Xfinity postpaid Internet or NOW Internet. The plans are month to month and do not require a credit check, but mobile data can be slowed after 20 GB per line and during congestion. Availability, taxes, setup charges, device costs and payment rules still depend on the address and checkout terms.
What Comcast launched
Comcast announced NOW on April 17, 2024, as a prepaid portfolio comprising NOW Internet, NOW Mobile, NOW TV and NOW WiFi Pass. On May 9, 2024, the company said NOW Internet and NOW Mobile were available nationwide within Comcast’s service footprint, not at every U.S. address. The announcement is at Comcast’s launch release, with the nationwide update in this May 2024 announcement.
The practical proposition is straightforward: prepaid billing, no long-term contract and no credit check. That simplicity is conditional, however. Internet requires Comcast facilities at the service address, and Mobile is tied to qualifying Comcast broadband.
NOW Internet plans and price
The original 2024 launch offered two tiers. Comcast’s current NOW page still advertises Internet starting at $30 per month, but rates and promotions can change; confirm the live checkout total at xfinity.com/now.

“Up to” is important: the figures are advertised maximum download speeds, not guarantees of throughput, latency or upload performance. Check your address before assuming self-installation; Comcast’s shopping flow may require professional installation in some locations. Ask whether the displayed total includes taxes, equipment, activation or installation charges, and whether a gateway must be returned when service ends.
NOW Mobile is not standalone prepaid wireless
Comcast’s current product and support pages require either Xfinity postpaid Internet or NOW Internet for NOW Mobile. A mobile-only customer cannot sign up on the same basis as with an independent prepaid carrier. See the NOW product page and NOW support overview.

At launch, Comcast described unlimited 5G talk, text and data at as little as $25 per month when bundled with qualifying Internet, with additional lines also listed at $25 and a combined Internet-and-Mobile price as low as $55. Those are 2024 launch figures, not a guaranteed 2026 rate; the current site does not expose one definitive universal Mobile base price.
- Current displayed terms say speeds may be reduced after 20 GB per line.
- Traffic may be deprioritized when the network is congested, so “unlimited” is not unlimited premium-speed data.
- Customers must pay for a phone in full or bring a compatible device; device financing should not be assumed.
- Comcast advertised access to more than 23 million Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots. Hotspot count, signal, authentication and congestion vary, and Wi-Fi does not replace cellular coverage everywhere.
Review the current terms at NOW Mobile before ordering. International and roaming use can incur additional charges.

The fine print behind “simple and low-cost”
Address eligibility
Internet availability is determined by Comcast’s local network. “Nationwide” means nationwide across Comcast-served areas. Enter the complete service address rather than relying on a general ZIP-code result.
Payment and account rules
No credit check removes a credit-score hurdle, not the need for an accepted payment method. Current displayed terms indicate online payment by credit, debit or prepaid card, with autopay and paperless billing requirements potentially applying. A $25 one-time Mobile line setup fee appears in displayed terms; promotional waivers are date-specific. Confirm every charge in checkout.

- FUTURE-PROOF YOUR HOME NETWORK: The 2.5 Gig Ethernet port connects your router for the fastest speeds in your area. Combine the two 1 Gig ports on a compatible router for speeds up to 2 Gbps. Ready for today's multi-gig plans and tomorrow's speed upgrades.

Pause and cancellation
Comcast markets online signup, management, pausing and cancellation. The exact pause timing, billing-cycle treatment, reactivation process and equipment-return obligations should be read in the current support and account screens rather than inferred from the launch announcement.
Total cost
Compare the recurring service price with taxes, regulatory fees, installation, line setup, a required phone, international use and any equipment obligation. A low monthly Mobile rate can lose its advantage if you must buy a handset outright.

- 🚫 NO WiFi INCLUDED - ROUTER REQUIRED: This is a modem ONLY. You MUST buy a separate WiFi router to get wireless internet. Without a router, only ONE device can connect via Ethernet cable. This does NOT replace your current WiFi router.
- 🔌 CABLE INTERNET REQUIRED: Works EXCLUSIVELY with cable internet service (DOCSIS) from providers like Xfinity, Spectrum, or Cox. Will NOT work with fiber (Verizon FiOS, AT&T), DSL, satellite, or fixed wireless internet. Contact your ISP to confirm compatibility BEFORE purchasing.
- 🚀 MULTI-GIG PERFORMANCE: Supports internet plans up to 2.5 Gbps with 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. Designed for plans 1 Gbps and faster from certified providers: Xfinity (up to 2.33 Gbps), Spectrum (1 Gbps), Cox (2 Gbps). Verify your plan speed and provider compatibility.

NOW compared with other Comcast and wireless choices
| Option | Best for | Main advantage | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| NOW Internet | Moderate-use households wanting prepaid Comcast broadband | No contract, no credit check and low starting price | Comcast footprint and only 100/200 Mbps launch tiers |
| Xfinity postpaid | Households needing more speed or plan choices | Broader tier and bundle selection | Conventional billing and promotion conditions |
| Internet Essentials | Households meeting Comcast’s income or program criteria | Potentially lower monthly cost | Eligibility documentation and restrictions |
| 5G fixed-wireless Internet | Homes outside cable service or seeking wireless installation | No cable drop and potentially flexible setup | Performance varies with signal and congestion |
| Independent prepaid mobile | Customers needing phone service without home broadband | No Comcast Internet requirement | May not include Xfinity hotspot access or bundle savings |
NOW versus Internet Essentials
Internet Essentials is a separate low-income program. In a May 31, 2024 update, Comcast listed Internet Essentials at $9.95 per month for 50 Mbps and Internet Essentials Plus at $29.95 for 100 Mbps; verify current prices and eligibility at Internet Essentials. Eligible households may therefore pay less than NOW, while NOW can suit people who do not qualify for or do not want to document eligibility. Comcast linked the demand for low-cost options to the Affordable Connectivity Program’s end on May 31, 2024 (Comcast’s ACP update).
Who should consider NOW?
Likely good fits
- An existing Xfinity household seeking a predictable prepaid mobile add-on.
- A small or moderate-use home that can operate comfortably with 100 or 200 Mbps.
- Someone who values month-to-month service and online account control.
- A user who regularly encounters useful Xfinity hotspots.
Likely poor fits
- Anyone outside Comcast’s wired footprint or seeking mobile service without Comcast broadband.
- Heavy mobile-data users who need consistently high priority after 20 GB.
- Frequent international travelers needing predictable roaming.
- Households requiring gigabit speeds, strong upload capacity or advanced networking features.
- Customers who need cash payment, handset financing or a traditional independent wireless account.
How to check before enrolling
- Enter the exact home address at xfinity.com/now and confirm that NOW Internet is offered.
- Read the displayed monthly total, taxes, setup and installation charges; distinguish recurring prices from promotions.
- If adding Mobile, verify that the account has Xfinity postpaid Internet or NOW Internet.
- Check phone compatibility or price the handset you would have to buy outright.
- Estimate mobile data use, including whether any line is likely to exceed 20 GB in a billing cycle.
- Review autopay, paperless billing, pause, cancellation, equipment return, international and roaming terms before submitting payment.
Bottom line
NOW makes Comcast’s prepaid offering easier to understand, but it is not universally available and NOW Mobile is not an independent phone plan. It is most compelling for a qualifying Comcast broadband household that wants month-to-month pricing and moderate speeds. Compare Internet Essentials if you qualify, and compare independent prepaid wireless or 5G home Internet when Comcast’s broadband requirement, data management or address limitations do not fit.
