Amazon’s reported M4 MacBook Air promotion on September 16, 2025 cut $200 from six listed configurations, with the 13-inch 16GB/256GB model reaching $799 and the 15-inch 24GB/512GB model reaching $1,399. Those were temporary U.S. prices, not a verified August 2026 offer; Amazon’s live listing, seller, condition and warranty must be checked before purchase.
MacRumors reported the prices as all-time lows at publication. That historical description should not be treated as proof of the lowest price available today.
The six configurations included in the 2025 promotion
“Entire lineup” referred to the six configurations in the deal report—not every build-to-order combination Apple offered. All listed systems used the M4 chip and 16GB or 24GB of unified memory, with 256GB or 512GB storage.
| Model | Configuration | Reported Amazon price (Sept. 16, 2025) | Discount from launch MSRP |

Apple launched the M4 Air at $999 for 13 inches and $1,199 for 15 inches in the United States, with availability beginning March 12, 2025. See Apple’s launch announcement for the original pricing and colors.

What the $799 MacBook Air actually was
The headline price applied to the 13-inch MacBook Air with 16GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD. It was $200 below the $999 launch MSRP and the lowest absolute price in the reported sale.
Sixteen gigabytes is a sensible starting point for browsing, office applications, school software, video calls, light photo editing and many coding workflows. The compromise is the 256GB internal drive. Local photo libraries, games, video projects, virtual machines and large development environments can fill it quickly. Because memory and storage are not user-upgradable, buyers planning several years of ownership should consider the 512GB model instead.

Best large-screen longevity configuration: 15-inch, 24GB/512GB
The $1,399 model combined the larger display with additional memory for buyers prioritizing workspace and longer-term multitasking capacity. These recommendations are configuration-based judgments, not hands-on performance tests.

Memory, storage and GPU decisions
Choose memory for the workload
- 16GB: Appropriate for ordinary productivity, schoolwork, browsing, calls, light editing and many programming tasks.
- 24GB: Better for heavier multitasking, virtual machines, development environments and creative applications.
- 32GB: Intended for more demanding professional use, but it was not part of the six configurations in the reported Amazon deal.
Choose storage for how you keep files
- 256GB: Lowest price, but tight for local media, games, video and large software environments.
- 512GB: A safer default for buyers keeping the laptop for several years.
- 1TB or 2TB: More practical for professional media work or users who avoid cloud storage; these capacities were not listed in the deal matrix.
External SSDs can expand capacity more cheaply than an internal upgrade, but they are less convenient for applications and frequently used files.
Checks to make before buying from Amazon
- Confirm the screen size, memory, SSD capacity and, where relevant, GPU core count in the selected variation.
- Read the “Sold by” and “Ships from” fields. A low price may come from a third-party seller rather than Amazon.
- Verify that the condition is new—not renewed, refurbished or open-box—and inspect the stated warranty and return terms.
- Check for imported units, non-U.S. keyboard layouts, missing accessories or unclear warranty coverage.
- Remember that the reported prices were U.S. prices before applicable state and local sales tax.
- Compare the final price with a current-generation MacBook Air, Apple Certified Refurbished stock and the live Apple listing before committing in 2026.
What “record low” means here
MacRumors disclosed its Amazon affiliate relationship and described the September 16, 2025 prices as all-time lows at that time. That is an attributed historical claim, not an independently documented price-history result. Amazon pricing can change without notice, and a grouped listing can display different prices by color, capacity, seller and condition.
Is an M4 MacBook Air still sensible?
At launch, the M4 Air combined a lower starting price than earlier generations with 16GB memory as standard, support for Apple Intelligence and two external displays. Apple says Apple Intelligence availability varies by region, language and feature, and describes it as beta in its specifications.

In August 2026, a newer MacBook generation may offer longer support or different performance. An M4 is compelling only when its verified price advantage is meaningful and the listing provides acceptable seller, return and warranty protection. The historical $799–$1,399 figures should therefore be treated as a reference point, not a live quotation.
Bottom line
The reported promotion offered a genuine $200 reduction across six M4 MacBook Air configurations, from $799 to $1,399. Choose the 13-inch 16GB/256GB model only when its low price outweighs the storage constraint; for most multi-year buyers, the 13-inch 16GB/512GB configuration was the more balanced choice. Pick the 15-inch version when screen area matters more than portability, and verify every current Amazon detail before checkout.
