HPE said he was pursuing an opportunity outside the company. Ben Fallon succeeded him as vice president of worldwide channel and partner ecosystem networking sales, reporting to HPE’s broader channel chief, Simon Ewington.
What changed at HPE Juniper Networking?
The executive transition followed HPE’s completion of its approximately $13.4 billion acquisition of Juniper Networks on July 2, 2025. Juniper became a wholly owned HPE subsidiary, and HPE created a networking-specific channel leadership role for the combined business.
Mackintosh was appointed to that role on July 17, 2025. On January 6, 2026, CRN reported that he had left HPE Juniper and that Fallon had taken over. HPE described Mackintosh’s departure as pursuing an opportunity outside the company; available reporting does not establish that he was fired, retired or otherwise forced out.
Fallon’s appointment was not merely interim. He was still identified in the same networking channel role in June 2026.

CRN’s transition report uses “networking sales VP” as shorthand, but Fallon’s fuller HPE title is vice president of worldwide channel and partner ecosystem networking sales.
Who is Ben Fallon?
Fallon brings experience from both sides of the HPE-Juniper integration. Before the acquisition, he held Juniper’s vice president roles for global partner and commercial sales and was also identified as a Juniper global sales leader. He joined Juniper in November 2022 after roughly two decades at Cisco, where his work included sales and channel leadership associated with Cisco Meraki.
That chronology matters: Fallon joined Juniper in 2022, not HPE. He became part of HPE when HPE completed the Juniper acquisition in July 2025.

This creates three distinct layers of responsibility:
- Simon Ewington: HPE’s broader, company-wide channel and partner-ecosystem leader.
- Ben Fallon: Networking-specific channel and partner-ecosystem sales leadership.
- Rami Rahim: Leadership of HPE’s networking business.
Fallon’s continuing role was reported by ChannelBuzz in June 2026.

Who is Gordon Mackintosh?
Mackintosh joined Juniper in 2020 as group vice president of its partner organization. He later became senior vice president of Juniper’s partner organization and commercial sales. Earlier in his career, he spent approximately 17 years at Cisco and about four years as vice president of worldwide channels and partner-led sales at Extreme Networks.
His July 2025 appointment placed that channel background at the center of HPE’s post-acquisition networking integration. After leaving HPE, Mackintosh moved to Equinix as senior vice president of partner sales and programs, according to SDxCentral’s January 2026 report.

Why the change matters to partners
The networking channel leader has to turn two vendor portfolios and partner communities into a workable sales motion. The practical areas affected can include:
- Partner recruitment, retention and segmentation.
- Sales training, enablement and field coordination.
- Deal registration, incentives and compensation.
- Alignment between Juniper products and HPE Aruba Networking.
- Cross-selling networking with HPE’s wider infrastructure portfolio.
- Competitive execution against Cisco in enterprise networking.
These are the responsibilities and likely pressure points of the role, not proof that HPE has already changed every program or policy. Public reporting does not establish new rebate rules, authorization requirements, certification policies or channel-compensation changes resulting from Fallon’s appointment.
What Mackintosh said about the integration
Before his departure, Mackintosh described the combined HPE-Juniper opportunity as a defining moment for the networking industry. He said existing partner investments and specializations would be protected and that partners should not have to “start over” under the combined company, as reported by CRN.

At HPE Discover Barcelona 2025, coverage from ITPro described his emphasis on simplicity and flexibility in the partner experience. Partners quoted in that coverage were generally satisfied with the early pace and direction of integration, but those comments were an early-stage assessment rather than evidence that all integration work was complete.

CRN reported positive reactions from individual partners. Darren Raiguel of ePlus said Mackintosh had supported partners effectively and viewed Fallon’s channel and sales background as useful for aligning field teams. Jay Miley of Myriad360 called Fallon a proven channel leader and expected a smooth transition.
Myriad360 also reported high-double-digit growth in its HPE-Juniper business in 2025 and forecast double-digit growth for 2026. That is one partner’s experience and forecast, not an independent measurement of the entire HPE-Juniper ecosystem.
What is confirmed—and what is not
Confirmed
- Mackintosh left HPE Juniper in January 2026.
- HPE said he was pursuing an opportunity outside the company.
- Fallon succeeded him in the networking channel and partner-ecosystem sales role.
- Fallon reports to Simon Ewington.
- Mackintosh subsequently joined Equinix as senior vice president of partner sales and programs.
- Fallon remained in the HPE networking role through at least June 2026.
Not established by public reporting
- That Mackintosh was terminated or that performance issues caused the move.
- That HPE changed its overall channel strategy because of the transition.
- That Juniper partners lost benefits, specializations or prior investments.
- That the appointment was connected to another executive departure.
- That partners are universally satisfied with the change.
Questions partners should watch next
- Will HPE unify Juniper and Aruba Networking partner programs or keep separate tracks?
- Will certifications, specializations and deal-registration rights transfer between the portfolios?
- Will distributors and resellers face new authorization, rebate or registration rules?
- How will HPE manage direct-sales competition with partner-led opportunities?
- Does the combined portfolio simplify selling or add operational complexity?
- How much emphasis will HPE place on campus, data-center, AI infrastructure, SASE and security networking?
Fallon’s background gives HPE a networking leader familiar with Juniper’s partner organization, Cisco’s channel model and field sales execution. Mackintosh’s short tenure in the combined HPE role is notable because it occurred during the first phase of integration, but the departure alone does not demonstrate a reversal of HPE’s Juniper strategy.
