Short answer: As of August 18, 2026, the $1,799 offer is not a verified live Black Friday deal. If a retailer lists a new 14-inch MacBook Pro with the standard M4 chip, 24GB unified memory and a 1TB SSD at that price, it would be a reasonable-to-good buy—about $200, or roughly 10%, below the reported $1,999 list price. It is not automatically a record low, and the same headline could describe a very different M4 Pro model.
Deal status: a target price, not a confirmed offer
Black Friday 2026 is still ahead as of August 18, 2026. Treat $1,799 as an expected or target price unless a retailer page confirms the exact configuration, seller, condition and checkout price. Historical sale reports show that this price is plausible, but they do not guarantee a future promotion.
Apple’s current MacBook Pro specifications page now features the M5 generation, so an M4 purchase late in 2026 is an older-generation clearance decision rather than a current-model purchase: Apple MacBook Pro technical specifications.
Which MacBook Pro does “M4, 24GB, 1TB” mean?
The most likely target is the 14-inch standard-M4 model. Apple lists 24GB memory and 1TB storage as configurable options for that machine: Apple’s 14-inch M4 specifications.

| Configuration | What the listing should say | Why it matters at $1,799 |
|---|---|---|
| 14-inch standard M4 | M4 chip, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD | Likely the intended deal; reported original price was about $1,999, making the discount about $200. |
| 14-inch M4 Pro | M4 Pro chip, 24GB memory, usually 512GB in the base configuration | A 1TB version costs more originally, so $1,799 would be unusually compelling. Confirm storage rather than assuming it. |
| 16-inch model | Usually an M4 Pro or M4 Max configuration with a larger, heavier chassis | Not the same product as the 14-inch deal. Check the screen size and model number. |
Apple’s M4 Pro configurations are documented separately at Apple’s 14-inch M4 Pro specifications, while 16-inch options appear at Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro specifications. Never rely on “M4 MacBook Pro” in a search headline alone; open the product details and confirm the chip name.
Is $1,799 a good Black Friday price?
For a new, U.S.-market 14-inch standard-M4, 24GB/1TB unit from an established retailer with the full manufacturer warranty, $1,799 is a good, defensible price—not necessarily an exceptional one. Historical reporting placed this configuration at $1,799, so the figure has previously been a normal major-sale price rather than proof of a lowest-ever deal. When the price is weaker than it looks
- The $1,799 total requires a coupon, membership, trade-in, financing or store credit.
- The machine is refurbished or open-box rather than new.
- The selectable configuration is 16GB/1TB or 24GB/512GB.
- A marketplace seller, rather than the named retailer, supplies the laptop.
- The “regular” price does not reflect the product’s recent selling history.
What you get with the 14-inch configuration
Confirm the live SKU for the 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, the precise M4 CPU/GPU core count, 24GB unified memory, 1TB SSD, MagSafe 3, Thunderbolt/USB-C ports, HDMI, SDXC, headphone jack, wireless standards, included adapter wattage and color. Accessories and port details vary by model, so use the retailer’s specification panel alongside Apple’s model page.
Why 24GB memory can be worth it
Apple silicon shares unified memory between the processor and graphics. Twenty-four gigabytes gives demanding users more room for development tools and containers, virtual machines, large Photoshop or Lightroom files, video projects, music sample libraries and local data or AI workloads. It does not make every single task faster; its main benefit is reducing memory pressure and swapping. Browsing, schoolwork, office applications and streaming may run well with 16GB.

Why 1TB storage matters
A 1TB internal SSD is useful for local code repositories, virtual environments, RAW photos, video and offline media over a multi-year ownership period. macOS, applications, caches and recovery data consume part of that capacity. Because Apple does not make the internal memory or SSD user-upgradable, choose the capacity at purchase. External USB-C or Thunderbolt storage is cheaper to expand but less convenient for active projects.
Standard M4 or M4 Pro?
Choose the standard M4 when your priority is a lower price, strong everyday performance, battery-conscious use and 1TB internal storage. It suits office work, coding, browsing, photo editing and moderate creative workloads.

Choose M4 Pro when you compile large projects, edit video, run virtual machines or sustain heavy CPU/GPU workloads—and especially when an M4 Pro with 24GB and at least 512GB is close to the standard-M4 price. A March 2026 deal report put a 14-inch M4 Pro with 24GB and 512GB at $1,799 clearance pricing, but that is not the same as a 1TB model: Macworld’s report.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Should you wait for an M5 deal?
Wait or compare carefully if you want the newest platform, a longer support and resale runway, or an M5 configuration appears near $1,799. Do not compare chip generations without matching memory and storage: an M5 with 16GB/512GB may be a poorer fit than an M4 with 24GB/1TB.
Buy the M4 target price when you need a Pro laptop before the holidays, specifically value 24GB and 1TB, and the listing is new with a normal warranty. An M5 MacBook Air can be better value for ordinary productivity, but it is not equivalent for buyers who need the Pro display, ports, speakers or sustained-performance design. See Apple’s MacBook Air lineup.
Checklist before clicking Buy
- Confirm the exact chip: standard M4 or M4 Pro, not a generic “M4” headline.
- Confirm memory and storage: the selector must show 24GB and 1TB, not 16GB or 512GB.
- Check screen size and model number: verify it is the 14-inch version.
- Check condition: new, refurbished or open-box must be stated plainly.
- Identify the seller: distinguish the retailer from a marketplace seller and review warranty responsibility.
- Verify warranty and activation: after delivery, check the serial number with Apple; a new unit should not already be activated or tied to another Apple Account.
- Read returns: check the deadline, holiday extension, restocking fees and whether opened laptops qualify.
- Review price conditions: note clipped coupons, memberships, trade-ins, financing, store credit and price-match exclusions.
- Record availability: older M4 inventory may be limited to one color, warehouse or region; time-stamp any “available now” claim.
Potential retailers include Apple, Amazon, Best Buy and B&H Photo Video. The individual listing—not the category page—determines the actual seller, condition and terms. Apple’s refurbished inventory is separate at Apple Refurbished.
Verdict
Buy at $1,799 if the live offer is a new 14-inch standard-M4 MacBook Pro with 24GB memory and 1TB SSD, sold by a reputable retailer with full warranty and ordinary returns. Wait if the price is only predicted, depends on hard-to-value incentives, or an equivalent M5 is close in price. If the listing is actually an M4 Pro 24GB model at $1,799, it deserves stronger consideration—but only after confirming whether its SSD is 512GB or 1TB.
