Use the official route for your device: Android users should install PayPal – Pay, Send, Save from Google Play; iPhone and iPad users should use the Apple App Store; computer users can sign in at paypal.com. PayPal does not publish a general consumer APK download page, so avoid unofficial APK mirrors. Downloading the app and opening an account are free, but particular payments and financial services can carry fees.

Store ratings, download counts, update dates, app sizes, and operating-system requirements can change. Confirm the live listing when you install.
How to install PayPal on Android
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for PayPal – Pay, Send, Save.
- Confirm that the publisher is PayPal Mobile and, where shown, that the package ID is
com.paypal.android.p2pmobile. - Check the PayPal branding and listing details, then tap Install.
- Open the app and choose Log In or Sign Up.
- Complete any requested email, phone, identity, or payment-method verification.
The expected result is the official app’s sign-in or account-creation screen. If Google Play says the app is unavailable, check your country, device certification, storage, and Android version rather than downloading a random file.
Can you download an official PayPal APK?
An APK is an Android installation file, but PayPal’s consumer download guidance directs users to Google Play rather than offering a general standalone APK link. Treat any website advertising a “PayPal APK” as unofficial unless PayPal itself clearly publishes and supports that file.

- Sideloading can bypass normal store update and integrity protections.
- A filename or version number does not prove that the file came from PayPal.
For a financial app, Google Play provides a visible publisher identity, normal update handling, and store security checks. If your device cannot use Google Play, use paypal.com in a browser or resolve the device’s store limitation; do not bypass regional restrictions with an unverified APK.
How to install PayPal on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for PayPal – Pay, Send, Save.
- Confirm the developer is PayPal, Inc..
- Review the compatibility requirement shown for your device. The U.S. listing captured for this article stated iOS 15.0 or later, but Apple can change this requirement.
- Tap Get and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple ID password if prompted.
- Open PayPal and sign in or create an account.
Using PayPal without installing an app
Open a current browser, type paypal.com manually or use a trusted bookmark, and select Log In or Sign Up. Check the address bar before entering information and sign out on shared computers. PayPal’s mobile help also identifies www.paypal.com/mobile as an official starting point for mobile-download instructions: PayPal mobile help.
PayPal’s official consumer experience is primarily web-based on desktop; you generally do not need a conventional Windows or macOS client to pay, send money, or manage an account. A browser shortcut or pinned web app is simply a shortcut to the website, not proof of a separate official desktop application.

Is PayPal free?
PayPal says downloading its app and opening an account are free. That does not mean every transaction or product is free; fees depend on country, currency, funding source, transaction type, and account use. Check the applicable PayPal fee information and the fee shown before confirming a transaction.

What the PayPal app can do
PayPal describes the app as supporting sending and requesting money, paying friends, family, sellers, and businesses, managing linked payment methods, reviewing activity, tracking packages, receiving notifications, and viewing selected offers or rewards. Certain Savings, Pay Later, debit-card, crypto, or other features may be limited by country, account type, eligibility, or product terms; an icon in the app is not a guarantee that you qualify.
Requirements for an account
- A compatible device and supported operating system, or a current browser.
- Internet access.
- A PayPal account for core sending and receiving functions.
- Email or phone verification when requested.
- A linked bank account, debit card, or credit card for particular actions.
- Identity checks required by PayPal or applicable law.
- Country-specific age and residency eligibility.
For an individual U.S. account, PayPal’s U.S. User Agreement generally requires the user to be at least 18 or the age of majority in the relevant state and to reside in the United States or a U.S. territory. Other countries have different rules, services, currencies, and fees.

What to expect after installation
Installation alone does not guarantee immediate transfers. You may need to verify contact details, add a funding method, complete identity checks, or resolve an account limitation. Payments can be reviewed, held, limited, charged, or subject to cancellation restrictions. PayPal warns that a sent payment may not be cancellable or reversible, so confirm the recipient and amount before sending.
Safety checklist
- Install only from Google Play, the Apple App Store, or PayPal’s own website.
- Check the publisher or developer name before tapping Install or Get.
- Type
paypal.comyourself instead of following unexpected email or text links. - Never give a caller or message your password, one-time code, passkey approval, or recovery code.
- Enable available security controls and account notifications, and review alerts promptly. PayPal explains passkeys and notification protections on its security page.
- Keep the operating system and app updated.
- If you installed a suspicious APK, remove it and change your PayPal password through the official app or website.
If the app will not install or open
Store installation failure
- Check free storage and the current operating-system requirement.
- Update Google Play Services or iOS, then restart the device.
- Check country or region availability and whether the device is rooted, jailbroken, uncertified, or running modified software.
- Use paypal.com temporarily instead of sideloading an APK.
App or login failure
- Confirm that the installed listing is the official PayPal app and update it through the store.
- Force-close the app, restart the phone, and check network access and the device date and time.
- Try signing in at
paypal.com. - Use PayPal’s authenticated support route or official service-status information if the problem continues.
- Stop entering credentials if the screen or domain looks unusual.
Availability, features, and fees are market-specific, so an app or product shown in one country may not be offered in another.
