The prices and availability below describe what US shoppers saw on that date; they are not current August 2026 offers.
The strongest deal was the 13-inch MacBook Air with Apple’s M3 chip, 8GB memory and a 256GB SSD for $849 after an on-page $50 coupon. For heavier multitasking, the 16GB/512GB version at $1,249 was the more sensible long-term purchase. Windows shoppers had particularly balanced options in the $450 range, while the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 offered one of the better sub-$1,000 gaming configurations.

Best overall: 13-inch MacBook Air M3 for $849
The base M3 MacBook Air was the standout headline deal. The 13-inch model had 8GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD, and the $849 price required clipping a $50 coupon on the product page. Laptop Mag called it its top Prime Day laptop deal and an all-time low at the time; that price-history characterization belongs to the publication and July 2024, not to an independently verified current price history (Laptop Mag).
#1 Best Overall
- FULL HD IPS DISPLAY - Enjoy vibrant, crystal-clear images with 178-degree wide-viewing angles
- AMD RYZEN 3 30 PROCESSOR - Everyday performance you can count on; Multitask, stream, game casually, and edit photos smoothly with responsive power and vibrant HDR visuals
- ENJOY UP TO 14 HOURS AND 15 MINUTES OF BATTERY LIFE - HP Fast Charge restores battery from 0 to 50% in approximately 45 minutes
- AMD RADEON 610M GRAPHICS - Experience smooth entertainment; Built for streaming and multitasking, enjoy realistic visuals and efficient performance for work and play
- STORAGE AND MEMORY - 512 GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD offers fast speed and efficient storage; and 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM memory boosts performance with higher bandwidth
It suited browsing, documents, video calls, schoolwork and light photo editing, especially for buyers who wanted macOS, a light fanless design and Apple’s keyboard and trackpad. The compromise is the configuration: 8GB/256GB leaves less room for many browser tabs, virtual machines, large creative projects and a long ownership horizon. Apple memory and storage are not normally user-upgradeable, so choose the configuration rather than assuming it can be expanded later.
Better MacBook choice for multitasking
13-inch Air M3, 16GB/512GB — $1,249
Engadget listed the 16GB/512GB 13-inch Air at $1,249, reduced from $1,499 after a $50 coupon. The additional memory and storage are more appropriate for heavy browser use, coding, photo work and keeping a laptop for several years. It costs $400 more than the base deal, but the upgrade is substantial rather than cosmetic (Engadget).
15-inch Air M3 — $1,449 for 16GB/512GB
The larger 15-inch M3 Air with 16GB memory and a 512GB SSD was $1,449 after a coupon. A base 15-inch configuration was listed at $1,049. The 15-inch screen is useful for spreadsheets and side-by-side windows, but the Air remains a fanless ultraportable; it is not the right tool for sustained high-end GPU rendering.

Older M2 Air — $799
An 8GB/256GB M2 Air was reported at $799, about $200 below Apple’s direct price at the time. It could be worthwhile when the lower price matters, but the cited coverage noted that the M2 configuration lacked some M3 capabilities, including support for two external displays in that setup.

Acer Aspire 5 15 — $450
The Aspire 5 combined a Core i5-13420H processor, 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD and a 15.6-inch 1080p display for $450, an $80 reduction. That memory and storage combination was unusually balanced at this price. Engadget cautioned that it had not reviewed this exact variant, so verify the model number and seller before ordering.
ASUS Vivobook 16 — $449.99
Digital Camera World listed a Core i5 Vivobook 16 with 16GB RAM, 512GB storage and a 1920×1200 display for $449.99, $100 off. It was a strong productivity alternative to the Aspire 5, provided the listing still matched those specifications.

ASUS Vivobook 17 — $549.99
The 17-inch Vivobook offered 16GB RAM and a 1TB drive for $549.99. It made sense for buyers who valued screen area and local storage more than compact size. Confirm the processor, panel type and whether the 1TB drive was an SSD before treating the stated list-price reduction as meaningful.
HP 14 and Dell Inspiron 16 Plus
ABC News reported an HP 14 at $249.99, down from $469.99, and a Dell Inspiron 16 Plus at $749.99, down from $999.99. Because the available coverage did not establish the exact HP processor, RAM, storage or display—and did not fully specify the Inspiron configuration—these should be treated as leads to verify, not automatic recommendations (ABC News).

It was the best value pick for buyers wanting modern 1080p gaming without moving into premium pricing. Actual frame rates depend on the laptop’s GPU power limit, cooling, game, resolution and settings; use it primarily plugged in.

Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 — $969
The Helios Neo 16 was listed at $969, $180 below the stated prior price. Its larger chassis suggested a more performance-oriented design, but the exact CPU, GPU and display configuration must be checked on the listing before purchase.
ASUS ROG Strix G16 — $1,849
Reviewed listed a Strix G16 with a Core i9-13980HX, RTX 4070 and 165Hz display at $1,849, a $150 discount. This was aimed at buyers willing to pay for higher-end gaming performance rather than maximum portability.
Thin MacBook Air models were not substitutes for these dedicated gaming systems. macOS game support is narrower, and the Air’s fanless design is not intended for sustained discrete-GPU workloads.

Acer Chromebook 516 GE — $539
Reviewed reported the Chromebook 516 GE at $539, $60 off. It was attractive for ChromeOS productivity and cloud gaming, where a good connection does much of the computational work. A Chromebook is not a Windows laptop: verify that school, work, printing, peripherals and specialist applications run in ChromeOS or through an approved web or Android alternative. ABC News also listed an ASUS Chromebook C424 at $179.99, down from $249.99, but its processor and storage were not established in the cited coverage.
Professional and creative-work options
MacBook Pro 14-inch with M3 Pro
Coverage reported two different prices—$1,699 and $1,999—for a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3 Pro. The difference may reflect RAM, storage or retailer, so do not call it a single deal without matching the exact model identifier and seller. The Pro line is the better fit for sustained video editing, 3D work, brighter-display needs and additional ports than the Air.
When Windows is the better creative choice
Gaming laptops such as the TUF A15, Helios Neo 16 and Strix G16 can provide more GPU performance per dollar for applications that use CUDA or other Windows-focused acceleration. They generally trade away the Air’s portability, quiet operation and battery convenience. Check display color coverage, memory, storage and port selection—not just the graphics-card name.
How to check a Prime Day laptop deal safely
- Match the configuration. Confirm processor, RAM, SSD capacity, screen size, resolution, refresh rate and GPU. Amazon listings often group several variants under one page.
- Clip every coupon. The $849 and $1,249 MacBook prices required an on-page coupon. Confirm that the discount appears in the cart before paying.
- Check Prime eligibility. Many July 2024 offers were Prime-only, while some were available to nonmembers. Coverage quoted Prime at $14.99 monthly or $139 annually, with a 30-day trial, but those were July 2024 figures—not current prices.
- Inspect seller, condition and warranty. Confirm whether the item is new, renewed or refurbished; check who sells and fulfills it, the return window and warranty terms.
- Review delivery status. Some deals were out of stock or delayed. Engadget reported a MacBook Pro configuration that allowed customers to lock in the price despite delayed shipping.
- Compare outside Amazon. Manufacturer stores can provide exact configurations and support. Check Apple, Dell, Lenovo, Best Buy and Walmart for the same model number and current warranty.
- Judge the hardware, not the percentage. A large reduction on an old CPU, 4GB of RAM, a small eMMC drive or a poor display can be worse value than a smaller discount on a balanced 16GB/512GB system.
Which deal fit each budget?
- Under $300: HP 14 at $249.99 or ASUS Chromebook C424 at $179.99, only after verifying specifications and operating-system compatibility.
- $450–$550: Acer Aspire 5, ASUS Vivobook 16, ASUS Vivobook 17 or Acer Chromebook 516 GE, depending on Windows versus ChromeOS and screen-size priorities.
- Around $850: 13-inch MacBook Air M3, 8GB/256GB, if your workload is light and macOS is compatible.
- Around $1,000: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 for an RTX 4060 gaming configuration.
- Around $1,250: 13-inch MacBook Air M3 with 16GB/512GB for the stronger all-purpose Mac choice.
- $1,500 and above: Choose the 15-inch Air, MacBook Pro or a higher-end gaming laptop according to whether portability, sustained creative performance or gaming GPU power matters most.
