ダイキン工業の米国子会社Daikin Applied Americas（DAA）は、米国時間2025年11月4日、データセンター向け液体冷却企業Chilldyne（チルダイン）を買収したと発表しました。日本語のダイキン公式発表は11月5日付です。買収額や契約条件は公表されていません。
今回の狙いは、チルダインの負圧式ダイレクト・トゥ・チップ液冷をDAAの製品群に加え、ハイパースケールおよび次世代AIデータセンター向けの冷却提案を広げることです。

DAAの発表は、提携や少数出資ではなく「買収した」と説明しています。一方、発表日が法的なクロージング日と同一か、支払い条件や取引規模がどうなっているかまでは明らかにされていません。確認できる一次資料は、Daikin Appliedの発表と、ダイキン工業の日本語発表です。
チルダインの技術は何か
ダイレクト・トゥ・チップ液冷
ダイレクト・トゥ・チップ方式は、冷却液をサーバー内部のCPUやGPUなど発熱の大きいチップ付近まで送り、熱を液体で回収します。空気だけで冷やす方式より、チップ近傍で熱を運びやすい点が、高密度ラックやAI計算基盤で注目される理由です。

ただし、液冷を導入しても施設側の冷却設備が不要になるわけではありません。回収した熱を熱交換器などで処理し、冷却液を循環させ、必要に応じて空調や空冷設備と組み合わせる仕組みが残ります。
負圧式とは
負圧式は、冷却ループ内の圧力を周囲より低く保つ設計です。DAAは、配管や接続部に問題が生じた場合でも冷却液が外へ押し出されにくく、信頼性を重視できる方式として説明しています。
これは漏液が起きないという意味ではありません。配管、接続、検知、保守の設計が必要であり、具体的な漏液率や故障率、稼働率は公式発表に掲載されていません。消費電力の削減率やPUE改善率も公表されていないため、「必ず省エネになる」とは判断できません。

なぜダイキンが買収したのか
AIサーバーの高性能化で、ラック当たりの発熱密度は上昇しています。高密度環境では、空冷だけで必要な風量、電力、施設スペースを確保することが難しいケースがあり、チップ近くで熱を回収する液冷の必要性が高まります。

2025年8月のDDC Solutions買収との関係
DAAはチルダイン買収に先立つ2025年8月、Dynamic Data Centers Solutions（DDC Solutions）の買収契約を発表しました。DDC Solutionsは、超高密度冷却キャビネット、サーバーラック単位の冷却、管理ソフトウェアを手がけると説明されています。詳細はダイキン工業の発表およびDaikin Globalの発表にあります。
DAAによれば、DDC Solutionsのモジュラー型キャビネットとチルダインの液冷システムを組み合わせたソリューションは、すでに市場提供されています。これにより、ダイキンの構想は次の層をつなぐ形になります。

導入を検討する事業者が確認すべき点
買収ニュースだけで製品の適否や経済性を判断することはできません。液冷システムを比較する際は、少なくとも次を確認します。
- 対応可能なラック熱密度と、利用するGPU・CPU
- 冷却液の種類、補充、交換、水質・液質管理
- 冷却分配ユニット、マニホールド、配管の構成
- 既存ラックへの後付け、空冷との併用、混在運用の可否
- 漏液検知、負圧制御、障害時の停止・冗長設計
- 施設側の熱排出能力と改修範囲
- DCIMやBMSなど既存監視ソフトとの連携
- 保守要員の技能、部品供給、サポート網
- 実測した電力使用量、PUE、導入費、将来の互換性
液冷の主なトレードオフ
- 高密度対応と複雑化：発熱処理の余地が広がる一方、配管や接続部など管理対象が増えます。
- 効率向上の可能性と改修費：冷却電力や設置面積を抑えられる可能性はありますが、費用は施設ごとに異なります。
- 信頼性設計と運用ノウハウ：負圧は漏液時の影響低減を狙いますが、圧力管理と保守手順が必要です。
- 統合調達とベンダー依存：一括提案は調達を簡素化し得る一方、単一ベンダーへの依存や互換性を確認する必要があります。
代替・併用の選択肢には、コールドプレート式液冷、ラック内冷却、リアドア型熱交換器、浸漬冷却、高性能空冷、ハイブリッド構成があります。今回の公式資料には、これらとチルダイン方式を比較する価格・性能データはありません。
買収後にまだ分かっていないこと
公式発表では、チルダインのチームがDAAに加わり、データセンター関連技術を推進する組織に貢献するとされています。DAAの発表には、チルダインCEOのSteve Harrington氏のコメントも掲載されています。

一方、次の点は確認できません。
- チルダインのブランド、製品名、型番が存続するか
- 拠点、人員、経営陣の役職がどう変わるか
- 販売代理店や保守体制の変更
- 具体的な顧客名、導入規模、稼働実績
- 買収額、業績への短期的な寄与
