SafeCard Reviews 2025: What the Evidence Says About Its Claims, Complaints and U.S. Buzz

SafeCard is marketed as an RFID-blocking wallet card, but independent performance evidence is lacking. Here is what the BBB record, promotional claims and consumer guidance show.

Bottom line: SafeCard is marketed as a passive RFID-blocking card, but available evidence does not independently establish that its advertised protection works. The Better Business Bureau lists the seller with a C- rating, no accreditation and 2025 complaints involving duplicate charges, cancellations, refunds and customer support. Independent consumer guidance also says payment-card RFID fraud is very unlikely, so shoppers should treat SafeCard as an optional, narrowly scoped accessory—not a complete fraud-protection service.

What SafeCard is—and what it is not

SafeCard is presented in review and promotional coverage as a thin card placed in a wallet to interfere with radio-frequency identification (RFID) scans. The intended targets are contactless payment cards, passports or access cards that use compatible RFID or near-field communication technology.

It is not an identity-theft monitoring plan, antivirus product, bank security service or guarantee against unauthorized transactions. It also cannot stop phishing, data breaches, account takeover, magnetic-stripe theft or a compromised payment terminal.

Why SafeCard attracted attention in 2025

Review pages and a GlobeNewswire release said searches for “SafeCard reviews,” “SafeCard consumer reports” and related RFID-blocker terms were increasing. That language is promotional and does not establish an independently audited national search trend. The more defensible explanation is that advertorial-style coverage combined a familiar fear—“digital pickpocketing”—with questions about whether SafeCard was legitimate.

SafeCard’s advertised features versus verified evidence

Claim or feature What the available record establishes
Passive RFID blocking Described by Tech Times and promotional material; no named independent laboratory report for the exact product was located.
5 cm interference radius A claim in a 2025 GlobeNewswire promotional release, not an independently published test result.
Waterproof and tear-resistant construction Seller-facing specifications; durability was not independently tested in the available evidence.
Protection for multiple cards Promotional wording; performance can vary with wallet layout, card type and antenna design.

Without a standards-based or laboratory test naming the exact model, the 5 cm figure and other specifications should be treated as marketing claims rather than established performance.

What the BBB record says about the seller

The Better Business Bureau identifies SafeCard as a Chicago online retailer, not BBB accredited, with a C- rating. BBB says that rating reflects one complaint that the business did not answer and the length of time it had been operating; the BBB file was opened March 13, 2025.

The BBB review page displayed four customer reviews when accessed in 2026. Reports dated in 2025 alleged duplicate charges, difficulty cancelling orders, refund denials and poor support. One customer review alleged: “This is a scam company took order and charged credit card twice.would not answer and no phone numbersupport@savvys REMOVED.took$165.00 no response when emailed.” That wording is a customer allegation, not a finding that BBB independently verified. BBB states that its profiles and reviews are provided for consumer judgment and are not endorsements.

Does an RFID blocker solve a real payment risk?

Contactless-card risk is technically possible but uncommon

An FTC-hosted 2008 technical submission reported wireless leakage of cardholder information from some contactless cards and demonstrated a proof-of-concept replay attack, while emphasizing that security varies by implementation. That historical evidence shows a technical possibility, not the likelihood of loss for today’s typical cardholder.

In a May 2026 article, AARP said experts it consulted consider RFID fraud from payment cards very unlikely and noted that many blocking accessories are sold without transparent evidence. AARP quoted Identity Theft Resource Center COO James E. Lee: “We do not believe this topic addresses a real risk.”

Skimming attacks happen through other paths

FBI guidance describes documented skimming at ATMs, point-of-sale terminals and fuel pumps, estimating that skimming costs financial institutions and consumers more than $1 billion each year. A wallet card cannot block a hidden device on a terminal, a keypad overlay, magnetic-stripe capture or stolen online credentials.

How SafeCard compares with practical alternatives

Option Coverage Evidence and trust questions Usability trade-off
SafeCard or another RFID-blocking card Usually one wallet compartment or nearby cards using compatible RFID Check for independent testing, a named seller, written returns and complaint history; SafeCard’s specific performance is not independently established here. May need removal before tapping and could affect transit or access cards.
RFID sleeves Individual cards Look for clear materials, testing details and a verifiable retailer. More deliberate card handling; one sleeve must be used per protected card.
RFID-blocking wallet Wallet-wide shielding, depending on construction Compare test methods and return terms rather than relying on testimonials. Can be bulkier and may require removing a card to tap.
Bank and account controls Alerts, transaction review and rapid fraud response Use your bank’s documented controls; this is broader than RFID protection. Requires setup and ongoing monitoring, but addresses more attack paths.

Safer steps whether or not you buy one

  1. Enable transaction alerts. Turn on push, text or email notifications for every card purchase and cash withdrawal your issuer supports.
  2. Use chip or contactless payments at reputable terminals. Inspect ATMs and fuel pumps for loose parts or unusual overlays, and shield your PIN.
  3. Review statements frequently. Report an unfamiliar charge to the card issuer promptly and follow its replacement and dispute process.
  4. Check the merchant before ordering. Confirm the legal seller name, a working support channel, total price, cancellation terms and refund policy. Save the order confirmation and policy page.
  5. Use a credit card when possible. Credit-card dispute protections generally limit the immediate exposure of funds compared with a debit transaction, subject to your issuer’s rules.

Questions to answer before purchasing SafeCard

  • Is the current seller identity and physical contact information clear?
  • Does the seller publish a specific return window and explain who pays return shipping?
  • Is there a laboratory or standards-based report for the exact model, wallet configuration and card types you use?
  • Will you have to remove the card for transit gates, building access or contactless checkout?
  • Are you buying a narrowly scoped accessory while separately maintaining alerts and fraud controls?

Verdict: is SafeCard a scam, and does it work?

The evidence does not justify calling SafeCard definitively a scam, nor does it prove the product delivers its advertised range or durability. It does justify caution: the seller has a C- BBB rating, no accreditation and multiple 2025 customer allegations concerning charges, cancellation, refunds and support, while the product’s key performance claims come from promotional material rather than an independent test.

If you still want this category, search for an “RFID blocking card,” compare sellers with transparent terms and regard the accessory as optional. The stronger personal-finance protection is prompt transaction alerts, secure payment habits and immediate reporting of suspicious activity.
