Yes. The Chase Mobile app supports Apple Touch ID, Face ID and, on supported Android phones, fingerprint or facial-recognition sign-in. However, Touch ID is not a new 2026 feature: Chase was already describing its Touch ID support in a November 14, 2017 announcement. The practical question now is how to enable biometric sign-in and why Chase might still request a password, passcode or verification code.
What Chase biometric login does
Biometric sign-in unlocks the Chase Mobile app through the authentication system already enrolled on your phone. On compatible Apple devices, that means Touch ID or Face ID. On Android, Chase refers to fingerprint sign-in and facial recognition where the device supports it. Availability depends on the phone, operating system, Chase app version and device security settings.
This feature applies to the Chase Mobile app. It should not be described as Touch ID sign-in for every Chase service or as a replacement for all browser authentication.
Chase’s current descriptions are available in its Chase Mobile banking information and Security Center. Chase’s November 14, 2017 announcement about adding Face ID to the iPhone X said the bank was already one of the first U.S. banks to offer Touch ID, so “now lets you” is historically dated.

How to turn on Touch ID, Face ID or Android fingerprint sign-in
- Install the official Chase Mobile app from your device’s app store.
- Sign in with your Chase username and password. A new or unusual device may also require a mobile-app notification, one-time code or another identity check.
- Open Profile & Settings.
- Tap Settings.
- Open Sign-in preferences.
- Choose the biometric option shown for your device, such as Touch ID, Face ID or Fingerprint sign in.
- Turn the setting on and complete the phone’s authentication prompt.
Chase’s pages use slightly different labels, including “Face-ID” and “Face ID & Passcode,” so the wording may not match this list exactly after an app or operating-system update. The current menu guidance appears in Chase’s account-protection instructions.
Which biometric option applies to your device?
| Device | Chase terminology | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Older compatible iPhones and some iPads with a fingerprint sensor | Touch ID | A fingerprint enrolled in the device settings |
| Face-authentication iPhones | Face ID | Face ID enrolled and active on the device |
| Supported Android phones | Fingerprint sign in or Android biometric recognition | Compatible biometric hardware, device security and an enrolled fingerprint or face |
Not every device exposes every option. A phone must also meet Chase’s current app and security requirements.

What you should expect the first time
Biometric login normally supplements, rather than eliminates, the initial account login. You generally need the Chase app, your username and password, and a working biometric method already configured in the phone’s system settings.
Chase may ask for extra validation when you use a new phone or when a login appears unusual. Possible checks include a Chase app notification or a one-time code. After that verification, the phone may be eligible for trusted-device enrollment. Chase’s trusted-device examples list smartphones running iOS 16.0 or later or Android 11 or later; those examples describe trusted-device eligibility, not universal minimum operating-system requirements for every biometric-login situation. Tablets, laptops and desktop computers are not eligible as trusted devices under that program. See Chase’s trusted-device guidance.

Touch ID is not the same as a passkey
| Feature | Where it works | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Biometric app login | Chase Mobile app | Uses the phone’s enrolled Touch ID, Face ID or Android biometric system to unlock the app |
| Passkey | Supported browser sign-in at chase.com | Uses a passwordless credential that may be unlocked with a fingerprint, face scan or device passcode |
Chase currently says passkeys can be used to sign in to chase.com in a browser but are not yet available inside the Chase Mobile app. A passkey may use a fingerprint, but that does not make it the same setting as Touch ID login in the app.
Why Chase may still ask for a password or passcode
- First login or a security event: Chase can require your username and password, a one-time code or another verification step on a new or unusual device.
- Operating-system fallback: After a phone restart, repeated failed biometric attempts or other system security events, the phone may require its device passcode before biometrics work again.
- Changed device security: Removing all fingerprints, changing the device passcode or altering enrolled biometrics can invalidate the app’s biometric authorization.
- App changes: Reinstalling the Chase app or moving to a new phone may require you to authenticate again and re-enable biometric sign-in.
- Optional additional check: Chase offers a setting that combines biometric authentication with the phone’s unlock code or passcode. Look for Face ID & Passcode or a similar option in sign-in preferences.
Biometric access is therefore a convenience layer, not a promise that you will never type a password or receive a security challenge.

Privacy and security considerations
The biometric check is performed through the phone’s operating-system authentication mechanism. Chase’s documentation describes using Touch ID, Face ID or Android biometric recognition; it does not establish that Chase receives or stores your raw fingerprint. Do not enable Chase biometric access on a shared phone if another person’s fingerprint or face is enrolled, because that person may be able to pass the device’s biometric check depending on the device and Chase settings.
Biometrics can reduce repeated password entry and are one part of Chase’s broader security controls, which include encryption, fraud monitoring, card controls and additional validation. They do not replace transaction alerts, account monitoring or reporting suspicious activity.

- FIDO2 & Passkey Ready: Business-ready and FIDO2 L1 certified. This key is supported by major management suites and is ideal for both individual and enterprise deployment. Works seamlessly with Gmail, Facebook, GitHub, Dropbox, Coinbase, and more.
- Universal Connectivity (USB-A ): Features a built-in USB-A connector—simply unfold the key and plug it into your compatible PC or laptop for seamless authentication on the go.
- Dedicated Manager App: Use the Thetis Manager App for the initial hardware PIN setup. Setting the PIN on the device first ensures a smooth registration process. Once the PIN is configured, you can begin registering the key across your favorite FIDO2-compatible online services.
- Ultra-Durable & Portable: Featuring a rotating metal cover, this key is water, crush, and tamper-resistant. It fits easily on a keychain and requires no batteries or network connectivity.
- Check FIDO2 compatibility before purchase - Known limitations: ID Austria is not supported (requires FIDO2 Level 2). Windows Hello login only works with Windows Enterprise editions that support Entra ID, and NFC is NOT supported.
What to do if you cannot find Touch ID
- Confirm that you installed the official Chase Mobile app.
- Test Touch ID, Face ID or your Android biometric method in another phone function. If it fails there, fix the device setting first.
- Sign in to Chase with your normal username and password.
- Return to Profile & Settings → Settings → Sign-in preferences.
- Look for labels such as Touch ID, Face-ID, Fingerprint sign in or Face ID & Passcode.
- Update the Chase app and the phone’s operating system through the official app-store or system-update channel.
- If the option remains missing, contact Chase through the app, chase.com or the telephone number on the back of your card.
Menu labels can vary by operating system and app build. If biometric login repeatedly fails, use the ordinary Chase credentials first, then revisit sign-in preferences after the account access is restored.
Bottom line
Chase biometric login is genuine and currently supports Touch ID, Face ID and supported Android biometrics. Touch ID was already an established Chase feature by 2017, not a new 2026 launch. Enable it from Profile & Settings → Settings → Sign-in preferences, keep your device biometrics configured, and expect Chase or the phone to request a password, passcode or additional verification when security conditions require it.
