Two below-MSRP listings reported on September 3, 2025 showed NVIDIA’s RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti becoming cheaper than their launch prices: an ASUS Prime RTX 5070 at $523.79 on Amazon and a PNY RTX 5070 Ti Overclocked Edition at $699.99 at Walmart. Those prices were $26.20 and $50 below the respective MSRPs. They are historical deal prices, not verified live offers in October 2026, so check the current seller, delivered cost, stock and warranty before paying.

The reported deals and the actual savings

HotHardware reported the listings on September 3, 2025. The figures below describe those specific listings, not every card using the same GPU.

Card and exact model Retailer Reported price (Sept. 3, 2025) Launch MSRP Advertised saving
ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Amazon $523.79 $549.99 $26.20 (about 4.8%)
PNY RTX 5070 Ti Overclocked Edition Walmart $699.99 $749.99 $50 (about 6.7%)

See the original deal report at HotHardware. The report did not establish that either listing would remain available, include shipping or tax, or retain the same seller after publication. Marketplace pages can change sellers while keeping the same product URL.

Why a small discount was news

Partner cards had often appeared at or above the baseline price earlier in the RTX 50-series cycle. A listing below NVIDIA’s announced starting price therefore indicated improving street pricing. It did not mean every custom card was suddenly inexpensive: MSRP is a class-level benchmark, while a board partner may charge for a larger cooler, factory overclock, different power limit, alternate BIOS, warranty terms or compact design.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Gaming OC 16G Graphics Card, 16GB 256-bit GDDR7, PCIe 5.0, WINDFORCE Cooling System, GV-N507TGAMING OC-16GD Video Card
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • Powered by GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
  • Integrated with 16GB GDDR7 256bit memory interface
  • PCIe 5.0
  • WINDFORCE cooling system

The reported ASUS model was described as a roughly 2.5-slot, approximately 12-by-5-by-2-inch card with a modest overclock mode, dual BIOS and small-form-factor positioning. Verify the exact SKU before relying on those characteristics.

RTX 5070 Ti versus RTX 5070: what the extra money buys

Specification RTX 5070 Ti RTX 5070
CUDA cores 8,960 6,144
Memory 16GB GDDR7 12GB GDDR7
Memory bus 256-bit 192-bit
Listed boost clock 2.45GHz 2.51GHz
Official starting price $749 $549
Typical positioning High-end 1440p and entry 4K Mainstream 1440p

NVIDIA’s specification table lists the core, memory and display capabilities for both Blackwell-generation GPUs at its comparison page. The Ti’s 4GB memory advantage and wider bus can help with high-resolution textures, ray tracing, mods and demanding future game settings. They do not guarantee a particular frame rate or lifespan.

Choose the RTX 5070 Ti when

  • The live price gap is modest, especially against a premium RTX 5070.
  • You use a high-refresh 1440p monitor or plan to play at 4K.
  • Ray tracing, large texture packs or mods are regular parts of your library.
  • You expect to keep the card for several years and value 16GB of VRAM headroom.

Choose the RTX 5070 when

  • It is materially cheaper after tax, shipping and any discounts you can actually claim.
  • Your target is conventional 1440p gaming and you are comfortable adjusting demanding settings or using DLSS.
  • Your case, power supply or total build budget favors a smaller or less expensive card.
  • The savings can fund a better monitor, CPU, power supply, SSD or system memory.

How to judge the price gap

At the reported prices, the Ti cost $176.20 more than the ASUS 5070. That is a meaningful gap for a budget build, but it is much less than the $200 difference between NVIDIA’s $749 and $549 launch prices because the Ti listing was discounted more heavily in dollars. A premium RTX 5070 priced near a basic 5070 Ti is difficult to justify unless its cooler, dimensions, noise or warranty solve a specific problem.

Do not treat a mail-in rebate, uncertain coupon, full-value game bundle, store credit or special-payment cashback as an immediate price reduction. A $523.79 listing can lose most of its apparent advantage once sales tax and shipping are added.

Resolution, features and workload trade-offs

1440p and high refresh

Both cards target 1440p, but the Ti provides more processing and memory headroom for high refresh rates, demanding presets and ray tracing. At ordinary 1440p settings, an RTX 5070 can be the more sensible allocation of a fixed build budget. CPU limits also become more important at very high refresh rates, so a faster GPU may not improve every game equally.

4K, ray tracing and frame generation

The Ti is the safer choice when 4K is part of the plan or when ray tracing is a priority. DLSS upscaling and Multi Frame Generation can raise displayed frame rates in compatible games, but generated frames are not the same as natively rendered frames and do not remove input-latency considerations. Compare base rendering, upscaling and generated frames separately when evaluating reviews.

NVIDIA promotes Blackwell architecture, fifth-generation Tensor Cores, fourth-generation RT Cores and DLSS 4 in its launch material at NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series announcement. These are manufacturer feature and performance claims, not a substitute for independent testing in your games.

Creator and compute software

NVIDIA’s CUDA and OptiX ecosystem, NVENC encoding, NVIDIA Studio support and Reflex features can matter more than gaming averages for specific users. Confirm that your applications support the features you need; a software requirement can outweigh a small retail-price difference.

AMD alternatives at the same real-world price

Compare the exact live price of a Radeon card before deciding. AMD’s specifications are useful for capacity and power information, but its product pages are not neutral gaming benchmarks.

Alternative Published specifications Potential fit
Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6, 256-bit bus, up to 640GB/s bandwidth, 304W typical board power, 750W recommended PSU High-refresh 1440p or 4K when raster performance and VRAM matter
Radeon RX 9070 16GB GDDR6, 256-bit bus, up to 640GB/s bandwidth, 220W typical board power, 650W recommended PSU 16GB-focused 1440p/4K builds with a lower power target than the XT
Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB 16GB GDDR6, 160W typical board power Ordinary 1440p systems that do not need high-end performance
Remaining RX 7900-series stock Varies by model and retailer Potential value if clearance pricing beats newer cards

AMD lists the 9070 XT specifications at its product page and broader specifications at its graphics specification table. Partner-board dimensions, clocks, connectors and power limits can differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • NVIDIA is usually the more defensible choice when you need CUDA-dependent software, prioritize ray tracing or specifically want DLSS and NVIDIA’s encoder ecosystem.
  • AMD may be the better value when the live price is close, your games are primarily rasterized, and 16GB of VRAM matters more than NVIDIA-specific features.

Neither vendor is a universal winner without independent, workload-specific benchmarks at the prices you can actually pay.

Purchase checklist for a partner-board card

  1. Identify the exact SKU. Check memory capacity, factory-overclock mode, cooler design and included accessories.
  2. Calculate delivered cost. Add shipping and sales tax; subtract only guaranteed instant savings.
  3. Check the seller and condition. Confirm “sold by,” “shipped by,” new versus used or refurbished status, return window and manufacturer-warranty eligibility.
  4. Measure the build. Verify length, height, slot thickness, radiator clearance and airflow. A GPU name does not establish compact-case compatibility.
  5. Verify power. Check the card’s connector or adapter, available PSU cables, PSU quality and the partner model’s power requirement. Reference-GPU guidance does not describe every factory-overclocked board.
  6. Confirm display needs. NVIDIA lists up to 4K at 480Hz or 8K at 165Hz with DSC in its comparison table, but the board’s connectors, cable, monitor and selected mode determine what works in practice.
  7. Read rebate terms. Record the amount, deadline, documentation, payment method and whether the rebate is retailer- or manufacturer-funded.

Bottom line for a buyer today

The September 3, 2025 listings were genuine examples of the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti selling below NVIDIA’s launch MSRPs, but they are not evidence of a live October 2026 promotion. If a current RTX 5070 Ti is only slightly more expensive than a comparable RTX 5070, its 16GB memory and additional resources make it the stronger value for high-refresh 1440p, entry 4K and ray tracing. If the RTX 5070 is substantially cheaper, it remains a reasonable mainstream-1440p choice.

Before purchasing, compare that final price with RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT listings, then reject any deal whose advantage depends on an uncertain rebate, marketplace seller, unclear warranty or a card that does not fit your case and power supply.
