Verizon completed its acquisition of Frontier on January 20, 2026. Frontier is now a wholly owned Verizon subsidiary, but most customers have not been moved into Verizon’s billing or account systems. Existing Frontier service generally continues under its current plan and price. The clearest immediate benefit is a possible $15-per-month discount for eligible Frontier Fiber customers who enroll with qualifying Verizon mobile service.
That discount is not automatic, and the acquisition does not guarantee a lower bill, faster service, universal fiber availability, or an instant conversion to Verizon Fios.
First, the date and terminology
This was an acquisition, not a merger of equals. Verizon closed the Frontier transaction on January 20, 2026, and Frontier became a wholly owned Verizon subsidiary. The closing was reported in Verizon’s annual filing and Frontier’s closing notice.
Ownership has changed, but Frontier branding, MyFrontier, Frontier billing and much of the existing support structure remain in place for now.

What changes for current Frontier customers
A possible Mobile + Home discount
Eligible customers can receive $15 off each month on their Frontier bill when they combine qualifying Frontier Fiber with qualifying Verizon mobile service and complete enrollment. Verizon says the credit can take one or two billing cycles to appear.
A potential mobile-perk credit
Customers on qualifying high-speed fiber tiers may also receive up to $10 per month toward one eligible paid Verizon perk. This is a perk credit, not cash and not a second reduction on the internet bill.
More Verizon-related programs
Verizon may offer affordability programs and promotions to eligible households, including Verizon Forward. Availability depends on the customer’s address and eligibility.
What does not change automatically
| Item | What to expect now |
|---|---|
| Frontier plan | Your existing service generally continues unless you separately change it. |
| Price and promotions | Verizon says the acquisition alone does not change current Frontier pricing, deals or discounts. |
| Billing | Frontier and Verizon bills remain separate. |
| Online accounts | Use MyFrontier for Frontier and My Verizon for mobile service. |
| Support | Continue using Frontier’s existing customer-support channels unless you receive notice of a change. |
| Equipment and installation | Existing arrangements generally remain unless Frontier or Verizon gives advance notice. |
A separate promotion expiration, fee update, equipment charge, plan change or price guarantee ending can still raise a bill. Those events are different from the acquisition itself. Check Frontier’s fee-change information for separately announced adjustments.
How the $15 monthly discount works
Verizon’s published standard requirements generally include:
Rank #2
- Simultaneous use of phone, video, and high-speed data
- Compatible with Frontier Internet Service - Call Your Provider Before Ordering to Ensure Compatibility
- Concurrent Wi-Fi support for 802.11ac on 5 GHz and 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4GHz
- Four Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed home networking
- Proven, robust ARRIS 9x software platform + Primary line VoIP telephone service
- An active residential Frontier Fiber plan.
- A Frontier Fiber base rate of at least $20 per month after applicable promotions and discounts, excluding taxes, fees, surcharges and optional charges.
- A qualifying Verizon postpaid smartphone or basic-phone plan for the standard Mobile + Home program.
- Active accounts in good standing.
- Enrollment through Verizon’s official process.
The discount is applied to the Frontier bill, not the Verizon mobile bill. Enroll through the official Verizon enrollment page; simply having both services does not activate the credit.
Postpaid and Value-brand rules are different
Verizon’s standard FAQ focuses on qualifying postpaid mobile plans. Separate pages describe a Value + Fiber or Value + Home path for brands including Visible, Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Tracfone, Walmart Family Mobile, Simple Mobile and Verizon Prepaid. Use the program that matches your exact brand and verify its current terms through the Frontier Value-brand page and Verizon Value FAQ.
What the discount is really worth
The maximum internet saving is straightforward:
$15 × 12 months = $180 per year.
That does not mean switching mobile carriers saves $180 overall. Compare Verizon’s complete mobile cost with your current carrier, including taxes, surcharges, device payments, insurance, activation costs, expiring promotional credits and the cost of leaving an existing contract or financing arrangement.

- It is usually a poor reason to switch if your current carrier is substantially cheaper or better where you live, work and travel.
- Do not cancel your old mobile service until the new service, coverage, pricing and enrollment are confirmed.
Who can receive the up-to-$10 perk credit?
Verizon says the additional credit is for customers enrolled in Mobile + Home who have Frontier Fiber 2 Gig, 5 Gig or 7 Gig—or the maximum Frontier Fiber speed available at that address.
- The credit is capped at $10 per month.
- It applies to one eligible paid Verizon perk, not unrestricted cash.
- You must keep the qualifying paid perk active.
- Promotional or free perks may not qualify.
- The credit ends if the eligible mobile line, home plan or paid perk is canceled.
- It is limited to one credit per mobile account, and unused value does not necessarily roll over.
Examples listed by Verizon include Apple One, Apple Music Family, YouTube Premium, Netflix & HBO Max, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+, subject to the current catalog and terms. Count this benefit only if you would otherwise pay for the perk.

Can Verizon customers get Frontier Fiber?
Potentially. Verizon and Frontier say their combined fiber network passes more than 29 million locations across 31 states and Washington, D.C. That is a network-footprint figure, not a promise that fiber is available at every address.
Check your address for three separate questions:
- Fiber availability: Does fiber infrastructure reach the property?
- Plan availability: Which tiers—such as 500 Mbps, 1 Gig, 2 Gig, 5 Gig or 7 Gig—can that address order?
- Actual in-home performance: Can your Wi-Fi equipment, devices and local conditions deliver close to the advertised speed?
Use Frontier’s official availability and plan page rather than assuming that Verizon ownership means every address has Fios. A New York page has shown Fiber 2 Gig as low as $79.99 per month and Fiber 5 Gig as low as $104.99, but those are location-, promotion- and offer-specific prices, not national rates. See the New York availability page for that market’s live terms.

Will Frontier become Verizon Fios?
There is no current customer documentation showing that all Frontier customers are being automatically converted to Fios. For now, the products coexist:
- Frontier Fiber remains sold and supported under Frontier branding in its markets.
- Verizon Fios remains a Verizon-branded product in its existing markets.
- Availability and plan names remain address-specific.
Fiber, DSL, landline and business customers need different expectations
The most visible offers center on Frontier Fiber. Do not assume that every legacy service receives the same treatment.
- Fiber: The $15 Mobile + Home discount and high-speed perk credit are most clearly associated with qualifying fiber plans.
- DSL or copper: Legacy customers should verify eligibility rather than assume the fiber offer applies.
- Landline: Voice-service terms may be separate from residential internet promotions.
- Business and wholesale: Commercial agreements and support processes can differ from residential offers.
What to do if your bill changes
Compare these lines on your current and new bills:
- Recurring base plan price.
- Promotional or loyalty discount and its expiration date.
- Equipment, installation, taxes, fees and optional services.
A higher bill may reflect an expired promotion or separate fee notice rather than the acquisition. Keep the notice and contact Frontier if a charge does not match your plan terms.

If the $15 credit does not appear
- Confirm that your Frontier service is fiber.
- Check that the post-discount base rate still meets the $20 threshold.
- Verify that your mobile brand follows the standard postpaid path or the separate Value-brand path.
- Make sure both accounts are active, in good standing and linked with verifiable customer information.
- Confirm that enrollment was completed, not merely that both services exist.
- Allow one or two billing cycles.
- Contact Verizon or Frontier with your enrollment confirmation and both account numbers.
Should you switch to Verizon mobile?
Use total household cost, not the headline discount, as the decision rule. Include mobile service, internet, devices, insurance, taxes, perks and any credits that expire. Also compare coverage at home, work and frequent travel locations.
Do not buy a 2 Gig or faster plan solely to obtain the perk credit if your household’s actual needs are ordinary streaming, browsing, video calls and gaming. Likewise, do not accept a more expensive mobile plan just to reduce the internet line by $15.

Before changing service, compare the best locally available options:
- Cable broadband.
- Municipal or regional fiber.
- AT&T Fiber, Google Fiber, Quantum Fiber, Ziply Fiber, Brightspeed or another local fiber provider.
- Verizon or T-Mobile 5G Home Internet.
- Fixed wireless access.
- Satellite service in rural areas.
Evaluate download and upload speeds, post-promotion price, price-lock period, equipment and installation charges, data caps, contracts, reliability and support. No provider is universally cheapest or best without an address-specific comparison.
A practical checklist for Frontier customers
- Find your latest Frontier bill and identify fiber versus DSL or another technology.
- Record the base price, discounts, equipment fees and expiration dates.
- Identify whether your household already has Verizon postpaid, prepaid or Value-brand mobile service.
- Check current address-level Frontier availability and plan pricing.
- Enroll through the official route instead of expecting an automatic credit.
- Wait one or two billing cycles and verify the Frontier credit.
- Keep both account logins and bills until a formal migration notice arrives.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do Frontier and Verizon use one bill now?
No. Frontier and Verizon bills and online accounts remain separate for now.
Is the $15 discount automatic?
No. Eligibility, enrollment and account verification are required, and the credit can take one or two billing cycles.
Does every Verizon mobile plan qualify?
Not under identical rules. Standard terms emphasize qualifying postpaid plans, while separate Value-brand pages describe another enrollment path.
The Bottom Line
Verizon now owns Frontier, but most Frontier customers do not need to change anything immediately. If you already have—or genuinely want—qualifying Verizon mobile service and Frontier Fiber, check enrollment for the $15 monthly credit and, where applicable, the perk benefit. Otherwise, keep your current service while comparing the full household cost, address-specific alternatives and any separate pricing notices.
