Microsoft 365 E7 is real, generally available, and priced at $99 per user per month in the US when paid yearly with an annual commitment and Teams included. Microsoft announced it on March 9, 2026, and general availability began May 1, 2026. E7 combines Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365, and Microsoft Entra Suite.
The bundle is financially compelling when a large share of employees will use Copilot and the organization is deploying governed AI agents. It is not an automatic upgrade: companies with low adoption, a small pilot, or uneven user needs may spend more by licensing everyone.
What Microsoft 365 E7 is—and what it is not
E7 is Microsoft’s top enterprise Microsoft 365 subscription for organizations moving from isolated AI experiments to managed, organization-wide Copilot and agent deployment. Microsoft describes it as part of the “Frontier Suite” strategy, combining workplace AI with identity, security, compliance, and agent governance.
It is an additional tier built on E5, not a replacement for E5. “Frontier Suite” is product-positioning language for this package. Microsoft also uses “Frontier” for a separate early-access program for Microsoft 365 AI innovations; that program should not be treated as a list of features included in every E7 license. See Microsoft’s separate explanation of the Frontier early-access program.

Microsoft’s announcement and its Frontier Suite overview provide the positioning; the commercial decision depends on which users will actually need the components.
What E7 includes
| Component | What it contributes | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 E5 | Enterprise productivity applications, security, compliance, identity, analytics, endpoint protection, and related capabilities | Supplies the existing enterprise foundation |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | AI assistance in Microsoft 365 applications and work-context chat | Provides the employee-facing AI layer |
| Agent 365 | A management and control plane for organizational AI agents across Microsoft 365 and supported third-party services | Adds visibility, governance, and scaling controls |
| Microsoft Entra Suite | Advanced identity, access, and network-security capabilities | Helps secure users, agents, applications, and access paths |
Microsoft’s official E7 page identifies these four products. It does not, by itself, establish a complete entitlement matrix for every advanced Intune, Purview, Defender, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Teams telephony, storage, model, or execution feature. Confirm the current Product Terms, licensing guide, regional terms, prerequisites, quotas, and consumption charges in a formal Microsoft or CSP quote.

Microsoft 365 E7 pricing
| Plan or component | US list price | Billing condition |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 E7 with Teams | $99 per user per month | Paid yearly; annual commitment |
| Microsoft 365 E7 without Teams | $90.45 per user per month | Paid yearly; annual commitment |

| Microsoft 365 Copilot | $30 per user per month | Paid yearly, where eligible |
| Agent 365 | $15 per user per month | Paid yearly |
| Teams Enterprise standalone | $8.55 per user per month | Paid yearly |
These are US list-price signals, not a universal quote. Enterprise Agreements, Cloud Solution Provider discounts, nonprofit and education pricing, government-cloud rules, geography, taxes, and negotiated terms can change the amount. Use Microsoft’s enterprise pricing comparison as the reference point, then obtain a customer-specific quote.
At list price, E7 with Teams is $1,188 per user per year. A 1,000-user deployment is $99,000 per month, or $1.188 million per year, before discounts and taxes. E7 without Teams is $1,085.40 per user per year.

Is E7 cheaper than buying the pieces?
Using the listed US annual prices, the headline comparison favors E7:
| With Teams | Monthly price |
|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 E5 | $57 |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | $30 |
| Agent 365 | $15 |
| Subtotal | $102 |
| Microsoft 365 E7 | $99 |
E7 is therefore $3 per user per month below the listed sum of E5, Copilot, and Agent 365, even before assigning a separate price to the included Entra Suite.

|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 E5 without Teams | $48.45 |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | $30 |
| Agent 365 | $15 |
| Subtotal | $93.45 |
| Microsoft 365 E7 without Teams | $90.45 |
The no-Teams comparison is also $3 lower for E7. This is not an automatic 3% saving for every customer. It assumes the same user needs all three separately priced components, uses annual US list prices, excludes negotiated discounts, and does not account for unused seats. If only a minority needs Copilot or Agent 365, targeted licensing can cost less than putting every employee on E7.

What is genuinely new beyond E5?
Copilot as part of the suite
An E5 customer already has extensive productivity, identity, security, compliance, and endpoint capabilities. The clearest employee-facing increment in E7 is Microsoft 365 Copilot, which otherwise can be assigned only to selected eligible users as an add-on.
Agent 365
Agent 365 addresses the operational problem created when agents acquire identities, permissions, data access, and the ability to take actions. Its value rises when an organization has multiple production agents across departments, Microsoft 365, and supported third-party services—not when it is merely demonstrating one prototype.
Entra Suite
Entra Suite adds identity, access, and network-security capabilities to the package. Buyers should confirm the exact current entitlement and regional terms, especially where an existing agreement already supplies overlapping Entra products.

Consolidated procurement and governance
One commercial SKU can simplify forecasting, purchase orders, deployment planning, and executive reporting. It does not make implementation simple: identity design, permissions review, data classification, monitoring, training, and incident response remain separate work.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy Microsoft 365 E7?
- Large Microsoft-standardized enterprises planning broad Copilot adoption and many internal or third-party agents.
- Regulated organizations where agents may access sensitive data, privileged systems, or transaction workflows.
- Existing E5 customers that can demonstrate sustained Copilot usage and need Agent 365 or Entra Suite across a substantial population.
- Organizations with mature security and identity operations capable of assigning owners, reviewing permissions, monitoring activity, and responding to incidents.
- Companies measuring outcomes such as time saved, throughput, quality, automation volume, or revenue impact rather than relying on demonstrations.
Who should probably avoid E7?
- Businesses with little repeatable Copilot use or no production-agent roadmap.
- Organizations still deciding whether they need E5-level security and compliance; E3 plus selected add-ons or E5 plus targeted Copilot may be more appropriate.
- Small and midsize companies for which enterprise licensing is disproportionate.
- Workforces dominated by frontline, seasonal, temporary, or occasional users who do not need Copilot.
- Companies experimenting with one or two agents and without an established governance process.
- Organizations whose principal AI workloads run outside Microsoft 365 and would require a separate governance architecture.
E7 versus the practical alternatives
| Option | Best for | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|
| E5 alone | Advanced enterprise security and compliance without broad paid Copilot or agent governance | No complete E7 bundle |
| E5 plus Copilot | Targeted or broad Copilot deployment without requiring the full E7 package | Separate licensing and a potentially less integrated agent-governance posture |
| E7 | Enterprise-wide Copilot and agent programs needing integrated identity and governance | High per-seat cost and annual commitment |
| E3 plus selected add-ons | Organizations that do not need the full E5 security stack | More licensing complexity and potentially weaker protection |
| Non-Microsoft AI stack | Businesses centered on Google, Slack, Salesforce, or custom platforms | Less native Microsoft 365 integration and a separate governance model |
How to decide: a deployment checklist
- Inventory current E3, E5, Copilot, Entra, Defender, Intune, and Purview licenses.
- Segment employees into Copilot-heavy knowledge workers, executives, administrators, developers, frontline users, seasonal staff, and users who need E5 security without Copilot.
- List current and planned agents, their owners, identities, permissions, data sources, and business actions.
- Classify agent maturity: no agents, pilots, multiple production agents, or a large cross-department estate.
- Define approval, acceptable-use, monitoring, retention, and incident-response policies before expanding access.
- Run a controlled Copilot and agent pilot with measurable adoption, time, quality, throughput, or automation metrics.
- Model annual commitment risk. At 1,000 seats, 10% underutilization means 100 seats, or approximately $9,900 per month at the published E7 price.
- Confirm regional, government, education, nonprofit, eligibility, Teams requirements, feature entitlements, capacity limits, and consumption charges.
- Obtain a formal Microsoft or CSP quote and compare it with a mixed-license design.
- Set a renewal review based on measured usage and business outcomes, not on Frontier branding.
Final verdict
Microsoft 365 E7 is a credible future-facing platform for enterprises genuinely scaling governed AI agents. Its $99 US list price is lower than the published sum of E5, Copilot, and Agent 365, while Entra Suite is included in Microsoft’s description. That arithmetic is attractive only when users need the whole stack.
For most organizations, the soundest approach is mixed licensing: assign E7 to populations that need Copilot, agent governance, and advanced identity controls; use E5, E3, or targeted Copilot and Agent 365 licenses elsewhere. E7 is not an automatic upgrade and does not guarantee adoption, safe automation, or return on investment.
