Broadcom’s accessible 2022 predictions put AI in software services and developer workflows, including testing bots and AI-assisted code creation. They show how the company expected AI use to broaden; they do not establish that adoption was accelerating at a particular rate. The April 7, 2022 article named in the original title is identified in a Broadcom Security.com related-content listing, but its full text is unavailable, so its specific arguments and evidence cannot be verified.
What Broadcom predicted about AI use in 2022
In its December 16, 2021 article, Broadcom Software 2022 Predictions, Broadcom anticipated AI appearing in both services and software development tools. It offered bots used in software testing as one example. The article also predicted that more enterprise software developers would use AI and machine-learning methods to create code.
These were company expectations for 2022, not measurements of how many organizations had adopted AI or proof that adoption was accelerating. They nevertheless identify two practical areas where Broadcom expected AI to enter work: checking software and helping developers produce it.
What the available evidence does—and does not—show
A related-content listing on Broadcom Security.com identifies the article Broadcom Software Shows Why Adoption of AI-Driven Solutions Is Accelerating in 2022 as published April 7, 2022. Its full text is not available in the accessible material. As a result, the article’s particular adoption drivers, examples, statistics, and any named speakers cannot be confirmed. - NVIDIA Volta GV100 Architecture — 4,608 CUDA Cores, 640 1st-Gen Tensor Cores delivering 14 TFLOPS FP32 and 112 TFLOPS deep learning performance for AI training, inference, HPC, and scientific computing workloads
- 32GB HBM2 ECC Memory — 900 GB/s Bandwidth — High-bandwidth memory on a 4096-bit bus with ECC error correction provides the memory capacity and throughput required for the largest AI models, simulations, and datasets
- PCIe 3.0 x16 Interface — 250W TDP — Standard PCIe Gen3 connectivity with passive cooling designed for enterprise rack server deployment in HPE ProLiant, Dell PowerEdge, and Supermicro platforms with adequate chassis airflow
- NVLink — Scale to 96GB Unified Memory — Connect two V100 GPUs via NVLink at 300 GB/s bi-directional bandwidth to scale GPU memory from 32GB to 96GB for larger AI training and HPC workloads
- Multi-Precision Computing — Supports FP64 (7 TFLOPS), FP32 (14 TFLOPS), FP16 (112 TFLOPS) and INT8 precision modes for flexible deployment across training, inference, and scientific simulation workloads
The distinction matters: a forecast about where AI might be used is not the same as evidence that adoption accelerated, nor does it establish why. The available material supports Broadcom’s expectations and examples, but not a measured adoption rate or a verified account of the target article’s reasoning.
How Broadcom connected AI with edge computing
A separate Broadcom article published May 2, 2022, Broadcom Software Shows Why the Move to the Edge is Accelerating in 2022, discussed edge computing and AI/ machine learning in operational settings. Its examples included industrial monitoring, predictive maintenance, smart grids, and Audi weld inspection. These are companion-article examples, not confirmed contents of the April 7 AI article.

- Hardware compatability: The MX3 is compatible with the PCI-SIG M.2 M-key 2280 Specification. It can be used with the Raspberry Pi 5 with a M-key 2280 HAT.
The edge discussion offers a useful distinction for understanding the forecasts: some AI-related work may be performed close to where data is produced rather than in a centralized cloud. Broadcom framed edge computing as relevant to tasks needing local or timely responses. That deployment context helps explain why AI and edge technologies appeared together in the company’s 2022 discussion; it does not by itself demonstrate AI adoption growth.
What the 2022 figures measure
The May edge article relayed several contemporaneous figures. Each describes a different claim, and none should be recast as a current statistic or a direct measure of AI adoption.

| Figure | What it referred to | Attribution and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 75% | Share of data expected to be created and processed at the edge within the following three years. | Gartner, as reported by Broadcom Software in 2022; an edge-computing forecast, not an AI-adoption statistic. |
| $176 billion; 14.8% growth | Worldwide edge-computing spending forecast for 2022 and its increase from the prior year. | IDC, as reported by Broadcom Software in 2022; a forecast made at the time, not a present-day spending figure. |
| Half of survey respondents | Respondents reported to have implemented AI in at least one business function. | McKinsey, as reported by Broadcom Software; the Broadcom article called it the prior year’s survey, but the available account does not establish a more precise survey year or methodology. |
The McKinsey figure is the one directly about AI implementation, but its scope is limited to respondents reporting use in at least one business function. The other two figures concern edge computing, not AI adoption.

Broadcom’s accessible 2021 predictions anticipated AI becoming more visible in enterprise services and developer work, with testing bots and code creation as examples. Its separate 2022 edge article placed AI and machine learning among operational edge use cases. Taken together, those sources document the company’s contemporary expectations and framing—not a verified explanation of the April 7 article’s claims, and not proof of an overall acceleration rate.
