No published sales figures in the available sources show that US sales of the Framework Laptop 13 collapsed. What Framework documented was a series of temporary ordering pauses and price changes as US tariffs shifted in 2025, followed by further revisions. That history shows how tariffs affected availability and pricing—not whether customers bought fewer laptops.
What Framework changed in the US
On April 9, 2025, Framework said it would raise prices on US in-stock laptops and new system preorders by approximately 10%, temporarily pause its lowest-priced configurations, and delay the US preorder launch of Laptop 12. The company said at the time that its Taiwan-made products faced a newly announced 32% US import tariff, while many modules made in China faced higher rates. These were the tariff conditions Framework described on that date, not current tariff guidance. Framework’s tariff updates
PCWorld reported that the paused Laptop 13 configurations included systems with Intel Core Ultra 5 125H and AMD Ryzen 5 7640U processors. Framework’s stated rationale was that, at a 10% tariff, it would have to sell the lowest-end SKUs at a loss. That explains why the configurations were paused; it does not establish that sales had fallen. PCWorld’s April 9, 2025 report
How the price and availability timeline changed
| Date | Framework’s reported action | What it means for buyers |
|---|---|---|
| April 9, 2025 | Framework announced approximately 10% increases on US in-stock laptops and new system preorders, paused its lowest-priced configurations, and delayed Laptop 12’s US preorder launch. | Some Laptop 13 configurations became temporarily unavailable to order, while prices changed for specified US inventory and new system preorders. |
| April 9, 2025, after Taiwan tariffs returned to 10% for a 90-day period | Framework said it restored pricing on Taiwan-made items but kept its lowest-priced systems paused and some China-made module prices elevated. | The company’s response differed by product and component origin; the initial increase did not apply uniformly. |
| April 14, 2025 | Framework said it had re-enabled seven base system configurations after tariff changes for certain electronics, including laptops. | Some configurations that had been paused became orderable again. |
| May 13, 2025 | Framework said Laptop 13 AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series Batch 6 orders and later would benefit from lower pricing following the May 12 US-China tariff reduction. | The lower pricing applied to those orders and later batches, not necessarily to earlier orders or every Laptop 13 configuration. |
| August 1, 2025 | Framework said there were no new tariff changes then affecting its product pricing and that it was maintaining US prices. | This was a dated statement about the company’s pricing at that time, not confirmation of September 2026 prices or inventory. |
| November 17, 2025 | Framework described a reduction in one China tariff affecting items such as its 60W Power Adapter and many Expansion Cards, while noting that supplier costs and remaining tariffs still affected some prices. | The update concerned a mix of products and costs; it does not establish a specific Laptop 13 price change. |
| March 23, 2026 | Framework described a changed tariff environment and mixed effects, saying some earlier price increases had been reversed fully and others only partly. | The company reported price reversals across some products, but this does not verify the current price or stock status of any Laptop 13 configuration. |
Framework also distinguished inventory already in its New Jersey warehouse from newly imported stock and new items: warehouse stock could retain earlier pricing while later imports or new products reflected applicable tariff costs. It also treated modules differently from complete systems. A single percentage therefore cannot describe every Laptop 13 order or component.

What the tariff figures do—and do not—tell you
The figures in the updates describe different things and dates. Framework’s approximately 10% figure was a 2025 US price adjustment, not a measured sales decline. Its 32% figure described the Taiwan tariff it cited in its April 9, 2025 announcement; it should not be read as the rate applying now.
A separate White House proclamation signed February 20, 2026, established a temporary 10% import surcharge beginning February 24 and stated that it would run through July 24, 2026, unless changed earlier or extended by Congress. The proclamation also identified certain electronics as exceptions. Neither that general proclamation nor Framework’s update establishes the tariff classification or rate for a particular Framework Laptop 13 import on September 27, 2026. Why the headline’s sales claim is unproven
A paused configuration, a higher price, or an out-of-stock listing does not reveal how many laptops customers ultimately purchased. The cited Framework updates and PCWorld report provide no US Laptop 13 unit sales, order counts, conversion rates, or comparable before-and-after figures. Without that performance data, the word “crush” is not supported: the documented story is about changing prices and temporary availability, not a demonstrated sales collapse.

What a US buyer should check before ordering
- Check the price and availability of the exact Laptop 13 configuration you want; the updates describe changes to selected systems, not one uniform model price.
- Distinguish an existing preorder from a new order, and warehouse stock from newly imported inventory. Framework said those categories could receive different pricing treatment.
- Treat tariff announcements as dated context, not as a reliable way to calculate today’s checkout price. The cited 2026 surcharge had a stated end date of July 24, and the sources do not establish the rate applicable to a specific Laptop 13 import afterward.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
