X Subscription Tiers Price List: Monthly Payments for Basic, Premium and Premium+

For United States customers subscribing on the web, X Premium costs $3 per month for Basic, $8 per month for Premium, or $40 per month for Premium+. Annual billing lowers the effective monthly cost to $2.67, $7, and $32.92 respectively. Taxes, country, and payment-method fees can change the amount charged.

What each X subscription includes

Basic: editing and customization without a blue check

Basic includes post editing, longer posts, longer video uploads, reply prioritization, text formatting, bookmark folders, custom app icons and other additional features. It does not include a blue checkmark.

Premium: the general-purpose paid tier

Premium includes everything in Basic, plus eligibility for a blue checkmark after X’s review, reduced ads, eligibility to apply for creator revenue sharing and creator subscriptions, greater reply prioritization, ID verification, Media Studio and higher Grok usage limits. A checkmark is not guaranteed immediately; X says review can take several business days and requires, among other things, a confirmed phone number, display name and profile photo.

Premium+: the highest consumer tier

Premium+ includes Premium’s features and adds higher Grok limits, no ads anywhere on X, the largest reply prioritization, Radar Search and Articles. X notes that occasional promoted content may still appear, so “no ads” does not mean every promotional item disappears.

Basic, Premium and Premium+ are X’s three standard consumer tiers. Premium Business and Premium Organizations are separate services for organizations, not additional consumer plan levels.

Which plan fits your use?

• Choose Basic if you mainly want editing, longer posts or videos, formatting and other convenience tools and do not need a checkmark.
• Choose Premium if creator-program eligibility, Media Studio, ID verification, higher Grok limits or reduced advertising matter to you.
• Choose Premium+ if eliminating most in-feed advertising, maximizing Grok and reply-priority limits, or using Radar Search and Articles justifies the substantially higher price.

Premium+ is $32 more per month than Premium on monthly billing, or $311 more per year when both are paid annually. The value therefore depends primarily on whether its ad and advanced-feature benefits are worth that difference.

How to subscribe

On the web

1. Open x.com.
2. Select Premium in the left side navigation.
3. Confirm your phone number if X prompts you.
4. Choose a tier and confirm the payment.

On iPhone or Android

1. Open the X profile menu.
2. Tap Premium.
3. Follow the in-app purchase instructions.

X requires phone-number confirmation. Sign-up may be unavailable if the account has not been active within the previous 30 days, or if its profile photo, display name or username was changed within the previous three days.

Changing from one tier to another

X’s help pages conflict on Android availability: the main Premium page says upgrades and downgrades are supported only on iOS and the web, while the separate Premium FAQ says iOS, web and Android are supported. Check the options shown on the platform where you bought the subscription rather than assuming Android switching is universally available.

Web upgrades and downgrades

• Upgrade: X applies remaining credit from the current billing cycle, charges the difference immediately, switches features immediately and adjusts billing to the new tier’s cycle.
• Downgrade: Your existing tier stays active through the current billing cycle. The lower tier starts at the next cycle at its new rate. X says there is no refund for the current cycle unless applicable law requires one.

iOS changes

• Upgrade: When changed on the same iOS platform used for purchase, X says the remaining portion of the previous subscription receives a partial, prorated refund.
• Downgrade: The current tier and features remain until the cycle ends; the lower tier begins afterward, with no refund unless required by law.

Android upgrades

The Premium FAQ says an upgrade made on the Android platform where the subscription was purchased starts immediately after payment, with remaining time prorated and credited.

Cancellation, renewals and refunds

1. Open Settings on the platform where you purchased X Premium.
2. Use that platform’s subscription controls to cancel.
3. Cancel at least 24 hours before the auto-renewal period to avoid another charge.

Cancellation normally leaves the paid features active until the end of the billing cycle. Subscriptions are generally non-refundable, including when an account is suspended, access is lost, or features are temporarily or permanently unavailable, except where law requires otherwise. Apple handles refunds and cancellation disputes for App Store purchases; Google handles them for Google Play purchases.

If a subscription is unauthorized, cancel it, change the account password and complete the additional security actions available through Settings. After canceling Premium or Premium+, a blue checkmark normally remains until the paid term ends unless X suspends the account or removes the checkmark for another reason.

Important date and claim corrections

X’s Premium+ price adjustment took effect on February 18, 2025. Existing subscribers whose next billing cycle began before March 22, 2025 kept the previous rate for that cycle; the updated price applied to the first billing cycle afterward. Consequently, references to Premium+ at $16 per month describe an older price, not the current United States web rate.

X is not offering free Premium trials according to its current FAQ. Also, the “all plans are ad-free” claim is inaccurate: Premium promises reduced ads, while Premium+ is the tier described as having no ads anywhere on X, subject to occasional promoted content.
