The headline referred to the 256GB Wi-Fi Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra in a promotion reported on December 20, 2024—not a $199 no-strings-attached sale. Samsung’s $200 instant discount plus up to $800 in trade-in credit brought its $1,199.99 starting price to about $199.99 before tax, but only for a buyer whose eligible trade-in qualified for the maximum credit. Treat that offer as historical unless Samsung’s live checkout confirms it is available now.
How the $199 price was calculated
| Price component | Amount |
|---|---|
| 256GB Wi-Fi model starting price | $1,199.99 |
| Samsung instant discount reported December 20, 2024 | −$200 |
| Maximum trade-in credit reported for the promotion | Up to −$800 |
| Effective merchandise price with the maximum credit | About $199.99 before tax |
The original deal coverage rounded the result to “$199.” The arithmetic from the stated starting price is $199.99, before tax or any other checkout charges. The $800 was a maximum, not a guaranteed discount for any device: the selected trade-in model and its condition determined the credit. The December 20, 2024 deal report described the combined $1,000 in discounts.

What trade-in buyers needed to check
Samsung’s current Tab S10 page says anticipated trade-in credit may be charged back if a device is not sent within 15 days or does not meet eligibility requirements. That describes the current page’s terms; the available deal report does not establish whether every deadline and condition was identical in December 2024. Review the terms attached to the specific offer before ordering.
- Check the exact eligible device, variant and condition in Samsung’s checkout flow; do not assume a quoted maximum applies to your trade-in.
- Read the deadline, shipping instructions and inspection terms. Keep the shipping receipt and tracking information.
- Back up your old device, remove accounts or activation locks as applicable, and document its condition before sending it. These are prudent precautions, not confirmed terms of the historical promotion.
- Check how tax is calculated. The roughly $199.99 figure is the net merchandise price after the maximum credit, not a promise that the total due at checkout would be $199.
Samsung’s current Galaxy Tab S10 page is the place to check present configurations and trade-in terms. Current offers can differ from the 2024 deal.

Which Tab S10 Ultra was involved?
The deal concerned the 256GB Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, whose U.S. starting price was $1,199.99. Samsung announced the S10 series on September 26, 2024. The Ultra is a large-screen flagship, not a compact tablet; its defining feature is a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung’s launch announcement lists the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage configurations, with memory varying by configuration.
Display, pen and build
The expansive OLED screen is well suited to split-screen work, drawing, handwriting and video. Samsung lists S Pen support, and its launch materials say the S Pen is included; package contents can still vary by market or listing, so verify the exact box contents. The 14.6-inch size also makes the Ultra less convenient to hold for long periods than a smaller tablet.
Samsung lists an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating. That is a rating, not a claim that the tablet is waterproof or protected from every liquid, impact or form of damage. The device also supports microSD expansion; Samsung’s U.S. business flyer lists support up to 1.5TB, but check the applicable model and regional documentation before buying a card.
Performance, battery and software
The Dimensity 9300+ is the processor specified for this generation. That establishes the hardware, not a measured claim that it outperforms every current tablet or laptop. Samsung lists an 11,200mAh battery and compatibility with 45W fast charging. A U.S. business flyer gives “up to 13 hours” under Samsung’s stated test conditions; real runtime varies with use, settings and connectivity, so battery capacity alone is not a runtime guarantee.

The tablet launched with Android 14 and One UI 6.1.1. Its hardware and S Pen can support productivity, but a keyboard cover is a separate accessory and adds to the cost; the tablet should not automatically be treated as a laptop replacement. Verify whether a charger and other accessories are included with the specific listing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who could benefit from a trade-in deal like this?
- Samsung owners with a valuable eligible device: The maximum credit is most relevant if the old device would otherwise retain value you are willing to give up.
- Artists, students and note-takers: The very large screen and S Pen support make handwriting and drawing more natural than on a small tablet.
- Media and multitasking users: The 14.6-inch display offers generous space for video, reading and multiple windows, if you have room for a tablet of this size.
- Buyers who value expansion and durability: microSD support and an IP68 rating distinguish the feature set, subject to the model and usage limits described above.
When the deal is less attractive
- You do not have a qualifying trade-in: Without the maximum $800 credit, the effective price is higher. Compare the actual checkout price—not the headline figure—with other tablets.
- You want a portable handheld: A 14.6-inch tablet is a poor fit if compact size and one-handed use are priorities.
- Your needs are basic: For casual browsing, reading and streaming, paying for flagship hardware and a very large display may not be worthwhile.
- You need a laptop-style setup: Budget separately for a keyboard accessory, and assess whether Android apps and your work requirements suit a tablet workflow.
Is the $199 offer still available?
The cited offer was reported on December 20, 2024. The available sources do not show that the same $200 discount and maximum $800 trade-in offer remains active as of August 16, 2026. Samsung’s U.S. tablet catalog now includes the newer Galaxy Tab S11 family, so the S10 Ultra is a former flagship rather than the newest Samsung tablet. Check Samsung’s current tablet listings and the live S10 checkout for stock, configuration, pricing and your personal trade-in estimate; do not assume a redirected or current product page preserves the old promotion.
If you are considering the S10 Ultra as a laptop-style device, also account for the keyboard. Samsung’s December 2024 U.S. MSRP file listed the Ultra Book Cover Keyboard Slim at $199.99 and the full Book Cover Keyboard at $349.99; those are historical MSRP figures, not verified current prices. Samsung’s tablet accessories page can help confirm current availability and pricing.
