Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra Promo Made the 512GB Model Cheaper Than 256GB

A December 2025 Samsung promotion made the 512GB Galaxy S25 Ultra cheaper than the 256GB model without a trade-in. Here is what was real, what was personalized and how to check today’s price.

Samsung’s December 2025 promotion did something unusual: it cut $385 from the 512GB Galaxy S25 Ultra without requiring a trade-in, producing a reported price of $1,034.99—less than the standard 256GB model. That was a real, time-limited U.S. promotion, not a permanent price change. The separate “up to $940 off” message was personalized and could not be reliably reproduced for every shopper.

What made the promotion unusual?

Storage promotions normally reduce the price of a larger model until it approaches the smaller model’s price. Samsung’s reported Cyber Week promotion went further: the 512GB Galaxy S25 Ultra ended up cheaper than the regular 256GB version. In practical terms, eligible shoppers received the extra storage and an additional discount rather than merely breaking even on the upgrade.

The deal was reported on December 5, 2025, by Droid Life. “Never seen before” and “goes rogue” describe the unusual pricing structure; they do not establish that Samsung’s systems malfunctioned or that the offer was unauthorized.

The reported prices, side by side

Scenario Reported price or saving Trade-in required? What the figure means
Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB $1,034.99 No December 2025 price after a reported $385 discount
High-value trade-in example About $599 for 256GB Yes Estimated result using up to $700 in trade-in credit; not guaranteed
Personalized Samsung message Up to $940 off Possibly Account-specific wording that the publisher could not reproduce universally
Unlocked 512GB listing $1,419.99 No Indexed Samsung U.S. snapshot for one configuration
Temporary instant-discount example $1,119.99 No One indexed snapshot showing $300 off $1,419.99

The historical figures are documented in the December 2025 report. Samsung’s later indexed pages show different prices, so none of those historical amounts should be treated as today’s checkout price.

How trade-in changed the calculation

Samsung layered several mechanisms into its offers: an immediate device discount, a trade-in credit, a storage promotion and, for some accounts, an exclusive offer. “Up to $700 off” therefore was not a universal coupon. A Galaxy S24 Ultra was cited as an example that could qualify for the maximum credit, subject to Samsung’s valuation and inspection.

Samsung’s trade-in terms generally require the old phone to power on, hold a charge and have a functioning display. It must not have prohibited damage, software locks or personal data, and it must be owned rather than leased. Samsung can change eligible models and credit amounts. A device that fails inspection can receive less credit or be rejected.

Trade-in promotions also generally cannot be combined with unrelated Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions unless the stated terms permit it. See Samsung’s offer terms before assuming discounts stack.

What was the mysterious “$940 off” offer?

The original report showed Samsung language reading “Save up to $940 with exclusive offers, only for you.” That message appeared to depend on the shopper’s account or browsing state and was not reliably reproducible. It may have represented a combination of storage, trade-in and account-specific credits rather than a single $940 markdown.

Do not assume that opening the same product link will produce the same offer. Samsung can vary pricing by account, app or website, U.S. region, model code, color, storage tier, inventory and whether another promotion is already applied.

Is the $1,034.99 deal still available?

There is no basis for presenting the December 2025 price as an active August 2026 promotion. Samsung’s indexed U.S. pages currently show different snapshots, including an unlocked 512GB listing at $1,419.99, a 256GB listing at $1,299.99 and a 1TB listing at $1,659.99 on one configuration page. That page also showed up to $570 in Samsung trade-in savings. Another snapshot showed a $300 instant discount, bringing 512GB to $1,119.99.

A carrier-specific Samsung page displayed up to $1,100 through carrier financing and monthly bill credits. That is not equivalent to an immediate unlocked-phone discount: the credits generally depend on keeping an eligible plan for the required period. Check Samsung’s live buying page and the final cart, not a search snippet.

How to verify your own offer

  1. Open Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy S25 Ultra buying page and sign in if prompted.
  2. Select the exact storage tier, color and unlocked or carrier configuration.
  3. Record the price before adding a trade-in.
  4. Test the price again after selecting your old phone, and read the condition and shipping deadline.
  5. Check whether the discount is instant or delivered as monthly carrier bill credits.
  6. Review stacking rules for financing, Samsung Care+, rewards and accessories.
  7. Capture the cart, terms, taxes, shipping estimate and delivery date before payment.

Samsung’s pages distinguish one-time payment, Samsung Financing, Pay in 4 and carrier financing. Installments change when and how you pay; they are not themselves discounts. The Galaxy S25 Ultra also ships without a charger, so include an adapter in your real ownership cost if needed.

When the 512GB model makes sense

Good fit

  • Heavy camera users or people recording 4K or 8K video.
  • Owners who keep large game libraries or offline media.
  • People planning to keep the phone for several years.
  • Anyone whose confirmed 512GB price is equal to or below the 256GB price.

Less compelling

  • Users who routinely offload photos to cloud storage.
  • Buyers paying the normal storage premium without needing extra capacity.
  • Shoppers whose old phone has substantially higher private-sale value than Samsung’s trade-in credit.

Calculate the real cost

Use this comparison: effective price = phone price − instant discount − confirmed trade-in credit + taxes + required accessories or plan costs. Compare an unlocked cash purchase with carrier financing only after accounting for the carrier plan, monthly-credit period, taxes due at purchase and the risk of losing credits if you switch or cancel service.

Samsung Care+ was shown on indexed pages at approximately $10 per month or $199 for two years, with theft-and-loss coverage at approximately $15 per month or $279 for two years. Those amounts are configuration- and date-sensitive, so treat them as optional costs rather than part of the phone’s discount.

Common ways the deal can fail

  • The price disappears at checkout: the offer may have expired, been account-specific, tied to inventory or existed only in a cached page.
  • Trade-in credit is reduced: inspection found damage, a lock, missing ownership or another eligibility problem.
  • Carrier savings are misunderstood: the headline amount is spread across monthly bills and requires an eligible plan.
  • The selected configuration is unavailable: color, storage, ZIP code and delivery inventory can change the result.
  • Promotions stop stacking: adding a trade-in or accessory offer can remove another discount.
  • The geography is wrong: the cited report and Samsung pages concern the U.S.; other markets use different currencies, taxes and trade-in rules.

Bottom line for buyers

The December 2025 promotion was unusually valuable because the no-trade 512GB price reportedly fell below the 256GB model’s normal price. The $940 message was a separate, non-universal personalized offer, and the trade-in examples depended on device eligibility. In August 2026, Samsung’s indexed prices are different, so the only reliable confirmation is a live Samsung cart showing the discount before you pay.
