Google does offer Google Opinion Rewards, a legitimate survey app that may award eligible Android users variable Play credit—up to $1 per survey according to its current listing. That is not a guaranteed $2 giveaway, and a personalized promotion, if one appears in your account, may have separate terms.
What Google’s official offer actually is
Google Opinion Rewards is Google’s survey-rewards app. Its Android listing says users may receive surveys about once a week, though they can arrive more or less often, and a survey may pay up to $1 in Google Play credit. The amount and availability depend on the survey and user; neither a fixed payout nor a particular number of surveys is guaranteed. The listing showed an update on June 22, 2026.

Google’s help page on earning rewards says payment varies with the survey’s length and number of questions. Some initial setup or validation surveys do not pay. You cannot request extra surveys on demand; the app notifies you when one is available, and Google advises answering honestly.
Why you might have seen “$2”
A Google Play post, banner, or email could describe an account-specific promotion, but that would not establish a universal offer. A separate survey-app comparison discusses a $2 threshold for PayPal cash on iOS; that is not evidence of a $2 Google Play credit for Android users. Without the original offer and its terms, the source of the amount in a headline cannot be confirmed.

Before treating a claim as a real Google promotion, look for confirmation in an official Google app or account page, or an email from an official Google domain. A legitimate offer should identify who qualifies, when it expires, and what purchases are eligible. Check that any linked redemption page is hosted by Google, and verify that the credit appears in your Google Play balance or Google Payments account. A headline, logo, referral link, or screenshot by itself is not proof. Personalized promotions may not be available to every account.

- Do not enter your Google password on a non-Google domain, share a verification code, or give anyone a gift-card number.
- Do not install an APK from outside Google Play or follow endless survey and app-install steps to reveal a supposed Google code.
- Check third-party offers separately rather than assuming they are Google programs. A Google Play Community response about “Playful Rewards” said it was not an official Google Play or Play Points program and warned against sharing personal or payment information with third-party reward sites. Separately, TechCrunch reported in April 2026 on a rewards app removed from Google Play amid concerns about misleading promotion and data collection.
How to earn legitimate credit with Opinion Rewards
- Install the official app. Use the Google Opinion Rewards listing on Google Play, not a third-party download.
- Sign in and set up your profile. Use the Google account you use for Google Play, and select the correct Google payment profile if prompted. Initial setup questions may not earn credit.
- Wait for an eligible survey notification. Survey timing varies, and you cannot request one whenever you want.
- Answer the survey honestly. The reward, if offered, depends on the survey; no specific amount is guaranteed.
- Check the reward confirmation and your balance. Use the credit for eligible purchases through Google Play, subject to the applicable terms.
If a reward does not appear
- Check your accounts. Google says to use the same credentials in Google Play, Opinion Rewards, and your Google payment profile. A mismatch can prevent the credit from transferring correctly.
- Check payment history and the balance. Review the relevant Google payment profile; the credit may be associated with a different profile than the one you expected.
- Allow time for processing. If Opinion Rewards says a survey earned a reward but it has not appeared within seven days, Google advises submitting feedback through the app’s menu.
- Check what the survey was. A setup or validation survey may not pay. If the missing amount was promised in a separate promotion, verify its eligibility and expiry terms; it may have been personalized or expired.
- Distinguish the reward type. Play credit is not the same as PayPal cash or a gift-card code. Older Opinion Rewards credit may also have expired.
Expiration and where Play credit works
Google says Opinion Rewards credit expires one year after it is earned. The credit is for eligible Google Play purchases, not an unrestricted cash balance. What qualifies can depend on the purchase and applicable redemption terms; check the terms for the specific offer and product rather than assuming credit works for every app, subscription, game, movie, or book. Opinion Rewards is an official Google program, but it is a variable survey service, not a dependable way to get an immediate $2. Surveys may be short, yet their frequency and payout are not guaranteed. The app listing also includes a data-safety disclosure; data practices can vary by region and age, so review it before signing up.

Google’s help page also lists a $0.50 reward for a valid referral, subject to change. That referral amount is separate from survey rewards and does not establish a universal $2 promotion.
