Samsung made the Galaxy Watch FE official on June 13, 2024—not “now” in 2026. The U.S. launch price was $199.99 for Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi and $249.99 for LTE, with Bluetooth sales beginning June 24, 2024. Samsung later marked the listed FE variants end-of-life (EOL) in its March 2025 U.S. MSRP file, so those figures are historical MSRPs, not guaranteed current prices or stock.
The 40mm Watch FE is best understood as an entry-level, refreshed Galaxy Watch4-class device: it adds sapphire-crystal protection and current Samsung software, but retains the older Exynos W920 platform. Check live inventory, seller, condition, warranty and the price of newer Galaxy Watches before buying.
Price and availability
Samsung announced the first Galaxy Watch to carry its FE (“Fan Edition”) name on June 13, 2024. In the United States, the Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi model launched June 24 at an MSRP of $199.99. Samsung listed an LTE model at $249.99; LTE availability was to follow through Samsung, Samsung Experience Stores, carriers and major retailers. See Samsung’s announcement at Samsung Newsroom and the U.S. MSRP documentation at Samsung’s MSRP file.
Samsung’s March 2025 MSRP sheet marked the FE variants EOL. A listing below or above $199.99 today may therefore reflect clearance, refurbished or open-box stock, an imported model, or a third-party seller rather than a current Samsung price. Verify the model region, seller, return policy and warranty.

What it can do
The FE provides notifications, calls and messages when connected appropriately, GPS activity tracking, NFC payments where supported, workout recording, sleep tracking and Samsung Health integration. Samsung lists optical heart-rate monitoring, electrical heart sensing and ECG-related functions, bioelectrical-impedance body-composition measurements, running analysis, personalized heart-rate zones and blood-pressure functionality where available. Secondary coverage reports more than 100 workout modes.

These are wellness and monitoring tools, not a substitute for medical diagnosis. ECG and blood-pressure features depend on country approval, the paired phone, Samsung Health version and supported software. Samsung says certain health functions require a Galaxy phone running Android 10 or later with at least 2GB of RAM and Samsung Health 6.22 or later; consult the regional details in Samsung’s announcement.
Is it a Galaxy Watch4 remake?
Not literally, but the comparison is justified. The FE and Watch4 use the Exynos W920 and both offer 16GB storage, making the FE a refreshed Watch4-era platform rather than a new-generation design. The FE has sapphire-crystal protection, a separate FE identity and updated software support.

That older chip and 247mAh battery mean less performance and longevity headroom than newer Galaxy Watch generations. Independent review coverage also criticized battery life; actual results vary by settings and use (Tech Advisor).
Bluetooth versus LTE
Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi
The $199.99 version is the sensible choice if you normally carry your phone. Calls, messages and connected services generally rely on a nearby phone or Wi‑Fi, with no monthly watch line.

LTE
The $249.99 model can use a mobile network for calls and messages away from the phone after carrier activation. It still requires a compatible cellular plan, adds recurring costs and can use more battery. Samsung identifies AT&T, T‑Mobile and Verizon as U.S. options for compatible watches. Activation is handled in the Galaxy Wearable app under the watch settings or Home tab’s Mobile plans; the phone needs an inserted SIM, and AT&T or Verizon may require a carrier QR code. Follow Samsung’s LTE instructions.

An Android phone is required. Samsung’s broad U.S. requirement is Android 6.0 or later with more than 1.5GB of memory, while individual health functions can require Android 10, 2GB of RAM and newer Samsung Health software. The Watch FE is not supported on iPhone because Galaxy Watch4-and-later models depend on Google Play services, according to Samsung’s compatibility guidance.
