When Melania Trump launched the $MELANIA meme token on January 19, 2025, contemporaneous coverage reported that Donald Trump’s $TRUMP token had fallen by more than 40 percent. The timing linked the two events in the news, but it does not establish that the launch alone caused $TRUMP’s decline. This is a historical account, not a current price update.

Melania Trump’s $MELANIA token launched on January 19, 2025. Around the same time, reports described a sharp drop in Donald Trump’s $TRUMP token. The Daily Beast’s January 19 coverage, updated January 20, reported a decline of more than 40 percent, citing Forbes. Forbes’s January 19 headline also described $TRUMP as crashing back, but its article page was not directly accessible for verification.
The more-than-40-percent figure is a report about that period, not a live or enduring measure. The available coverage does not establish the exact intraday prices, exchange, timestamp, or calculation method behind it.
Did $MELANIA cause $TRUMP to crash?
The launch and reported decline happened close together, and contemporary coverage framed the launch as a shock to the market. That sequence supports a temporal association, not proof of sole causation. The available reporting does not establish how much of the move, if any, was attributable to $MELANIA rather than other market activity or factors.

For that reason, the most defensible answer to “Why did Trump’s meme coin crash after Melania launched her coin?” is that the reported sell-off coincided with the launch, but the evidence cited here does not determine why traders sold or isolate the launch’s effect.
What the $TRUMP issuer disclosed about tokens and ownership
GetTrumpMemes.com, the official $TRUMP site, describes the token as a fungible crypto asset and says 200 million tokens were available on day one, with the total growing to 1 billion over three years. The site also says affiliated entities CIC Digital LLC and Fight Fight Fight LLC collectively own 80 percent of the tokens, subject to a three-year unlocking schedule. These figures are issuer disclosures, not independent verification or a forecast of price impact.

The site states that the tokens are intended to express support for and engagement with the ideals and beliefs associated with the $TRUMP symbol and artwork, rather than to be an investment opportunity, investment contract, or security. That is the issuer’s stated position; it does not by itself establish how a buyer should assess the token’s risks or legal status.

The January 2025 episode shows that the launch of another politically branded meme token coincided with a steep reported move in $TRUMP. It does not provide a reliable basis for inferring a present-day price, predicting future performance, or attributing the decline to one event. Both the historical percentage report and the token-allocation details should be read with their sources and time frames in view.
