Toronto collector Brook Trafton opened the card on June 16, 2023; the figure is a reported historical sale price, not a verified estimate of what the card is worth today.
What made this One Ring card unique?
Wizards of the Coast created a single serialized traditional-foil version of The One Ring for its 2023 The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set. The card’s inscription is in the Black Speech of Sauron, rendered in Tengwar letterforms, and its serial number is 001/001. It was a one-of-one collectible, not simply an ordinary copy of the card.
Wizards described the card as a “1:1 serialized” version and confirmed that it had been found. Its official feature says the unique card was available in one English-language, non-Special Edition Collector Booster. Wizards’ set feature provides the product and card details.
Who found it, and how much did Post Malone pay?
Brook Trafton opened the card in Toronto on June 16, 2023, according to The Washington Post’s August 17, 2023 report. Star City Games reported on August 2, 2023, that Malone bought it for $2 million, attributing the figure to The Notable Group, Trafton’s marketing agency. The Washington Post separately reported the same sale price.

Can you still pull Malone’s card from a pack?
No. Wizards says the one-of-one card has been found, so it is no longer available to pull from packs. Buying a Collector Booster for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth may be of interest to someone collecting the wider set, but it is not a way to obtain Malone’s 001/001 card. The individual collectible and the sealed product are different things.

What is known about its grade and later appearance?
Star City Games reported that the card was slabbed by PSA and described it as Mint 9. That is historical reporting about a grade, not an independent appraisal or a guarantee of value. In August 2026, PC Gamer reported that Malone showed the card during a Commander game while it remained in a smaller slab. That account does not establish its current ownership arrangements, insurance, or market value.
