The 15 platforms below are real examples from platform inventories and classifications, but that does not guarantee they are accepting workers, available in your country, or worthwhile for your time. How to judge whether the work is worth your time

A posted reward is not an hourly wage. You may spend time qualifying, waiting for tasks, following instructions, correcting work, or pursuing approval. Estimate what you actually earn per hour before treating a site as an income source.

1. Record the total time spent finding a task, completing any screening, doing the task, and resolving follow-up issues.
2. Count only money or rewards you can actually redeem, not a posted maximum or an unapproved submission.
3. Divide the redeemable amount by the total hours spent. Compare tasks on the same basis, including unpaid screening and waiting where you can measure it.
4. Track rejection or non-qualification outcomes as well as successful tasks. A high advertised reward may not compensate for frequent unpaid screening or declined work.

Pay varies by task supply, qualification requirements, location, and approval. A 2017 study, A Data-Driven Analysis of Workers’ Earnings on Amazon Mechanical Turk, examined 2,676 workers completing 3.8 million tasks. It reported median task-level earnings of about $2 per hour, and found that 4% earned more than $7.25 per hour. Those figures describe that study’s MTurk data from 2017; they are not a current rate estimate for every worker or platform.

What payment terms and approval can mean

UserTesting

UserTesting states that all participants receive payment in USD through PayPal. The amount depends on the test’s type, duration, and customer demand; standard tests are usually paid 14 days after completion. “Usually” is not a guaranteed date for every test, and the reward for one test does not establish an hourly rate.

Amazon Mechanical Turk

Amazon defines a HIT as a self-contained virtual task. Workers submit completed HITs for requester approval; eligible disbursements can go by bank transfer or Amazon gift card. Amazon specifies a 10-day holding period before new workers can make transfers, which is separate from requester approval. Its current help page says HIT submission closes September 30, 2026. That notice concerns submission of HITs; it should not be stretched into a claim about every aspect of the service. Check Amazon’s worker information for current status and terms.

How to avoid task-site scams and protect your work

A legitimate platform can host tasks that are risky or inappropriate. Amazon’s MTurk worker guidance warns about scams and phishing in externally hosted HITs. Treat requests to hand over credentials or sensitive information as a warning sign.
