Whether you can change an eBay shipping address depends on the order’s status: before paying, change it in checkout; after paying, ask the seller to cancel so you can repurchase with the right address; after shipment, the order address generally cannot be changed. Updating your saved address does not update an order you already placed.
These steps reflect eBay’s U.S.-facing Help pages checked August 18, 2026. Labels and available options can vary by country, account, app version, and order.
Change the address before you pay
During checkout, eBay displays your primary shipping address by default, but you can select another saved address or add one. In the checkout flow, find Ship to, select Change, then choose an address or add a new one. Review the complete order before submitting payment.
Before you pay, verify the recipient name, country, city, state, ZIP or postal code, and any apartment, unit, suite, or building number. Check the shipping service and each item’s delivery details, especially if the order contains multiple items. The Ship to field is separate from billing or payment information.

Manage saved shipping addresses
To add, edit, delete, or make an address primary, go to My eBay → Addresses, then use the shipping-address controls. eBay’s documented edit path is Edit next to Shipping address, then Edit beside the address, update the details, and select Save. The same area provides options to add or delete an address and make one primary. Website and app navigation may differ.
Your primary address is the default for future checkouts. Editing or changing it does not change the delivery address on an order that has already been placed. eBay also says you cannot change the country of your registration address; that is distinct from selecting a shipping address for a purchase. After payment: request cancellation, not an address edit
eBay generally does not let a buyer directly edit the shipping address on a completed order. Contact the seller as soon as possible and ask them to cancel the order because the address is wrong. If the seller confirms the cancellation, buy the item again using the correct address. Cancellation is a request, not a guaranteed address change or guaranteed outcome; the seller may decline, and the item may no longer be available.
Find the cancellation option
One current eBay Help version says a Cancel order button may be available when the purchase was made within the last hour. If that option is not shown—or more than an hour has passed—use the order’s available contact or cancellation controls. For the documented route, go to Purchase history, find the order, select Contact seller, choose Request to cancel this order, select Contact the seller, explain the address error, and send the request. Button availability can vary by order status and purchase type. eBay’s cancellation guidance says the seller can accept or decline within 3 calendar days; that is a response period, not a promise of cancellation.

Wait for confirmation before repurchasing
Do not treat a message asking the seller to redirect the parcel as an update to the order. eBay’s guidance says sellers generally cannot change the address supplied at checkout. Use the cancellation and repurchase route if the seller accepts. If the request is declined, check the order and tracking details and follow the appropriate next step rather than assuming the address has changed.
If the seller declines or the order has shipped
If cancellation is declined or the item has shipped, eBay says the package is ordinarily sent to the address selected at checkout. The seller cannot change the address on the eBay order after shipment. Check the tracking information and, if possible, arrange access to the original delivery address.

- Contact the carrier using the tracking number to ask whether a hold, pickup, or delivery-management option is available. Availability depends on the carrier, service, country, sender restrictions, and shipment status; it is not an eBay guarantee.
- If appropriate, ask someone at the original address or building management to receive the package or help you retrieve it.
- If tracking shows the parcel has not shipped, contact the seller promptly, but do not assume the seller can change the order address.
If the package is delivered to the original address and you cannot retrieve it, check the seller’s return terms and eBay’s applicable resolution options. A mistake in the address you entered is not, by itself, a reason to report an item as not received or not as described. If the item does not arrive by its estimated delivery date, use eBay’s normal process for an item that has not arrived and describe the situation accurately.

If you checked out as a guest, find the eBay email with a subject line that starts with “Order Confirmed.” Use the order link to open the details and contact the seller about cancellation. eBay says a guest can request a link to the order details if the confirmation email is unavailable. Check spam, promotions, and other email accounts you may have used. If the seller has already shipped, cancellation is unavailable. See eBay’s guest-order help.

Purchases with different cancellation options
Cancellation controls are not identical for every purchase. eBay’s order cancellation policy says the buyer cancellation request option may not be available for purchases made through an auction or an eBay Live event. If a purchase contains more than one item, eBay’s cancellation process requires canceling the entire order rather than just one item. Check the controls on the order page for the options available to you.
For an international purchase, distinguish the delivery address selected for that transaction from your account’s registration country. Some international shipping programs route an item through a domestic processing address before it travels onward; the available arrangements depend on the program. The cited address guidance confirms that the registration country cannot be changed, but it does not establish one universal rule for every international shipping setup.
Keep a record of the request
Save the order number, cancellation request, seller messages, tracking details, and confirmation emails. If the issue is unresolved, use the help or resolution options attached to that order. Do not assume eBay has changed the address unless the order details show the correct address or the cancellation is confirmed.
