Sendinblue is now called Brevo. This comparison therefore evaluates Mailjet against the current Brevo platform, while retaining “Sendinblue” so existing users can find it. Neither service wins for every business: Brevo is usually the stronger choice for multichannel marketing and CRM-style tools, while Mailjet is compelling for email-focused teams that value volume-based pricing, unlimited contacts on paid plans, and marketer–developer collaboration.
| Need | Better starting point |

| Team email production, roles and subaccounts | Mailjet |

Brevo pricing is dynamic. Prices above were checked August 18, 2026, in the displayed US-dollar configuration; billing term, country, taxes, email volume, contact count and add-ons can change the final bill. See Brevo’s pricing documentation and Mailjet’s published plans.
What happened to Sendinblue?
Sendinblue is now Brevo. It is not a separate current product, so use Brevo’s product, pricing and signup pages when opening an account. The rebrand is also confirmed in independent comparison coverage at Courier’s Brevo versus Mailjet comparison.
How the pricing models really differ
Comparing only the advertised monthly price can produce the wrong answer. Calculate your expected bill using these variables:
Recommended Free Tools
#1 Best Overall
- Monthly marketing and transactional email volume.
- Stored contacts and, where applicable, contacts enrolled in automation.
- Number of users or seats.
- Whether vendor branding must be removed.
- SMS and WhatsApp credits.
- Dedicated-IP, support and other add-ons.
- Monthly versus annual billing, overages, VAT, sales tax and currency conversion.
Mailjet’s structure
Mailjet’s free plan allows 6,000 emails per month but no more than 200 per day and 1,000 contacts. The published Starter tier lists 8,000 emails and up to 2,000 contacts. Essential starts at $17 monthly for 15,000 emails with unlimited contacts; Premium starts at $27 for the same volume and adds advanced functions. These are published signals, not a guaranteed quote for every country. Details are in Mailjet’s subscription documentation.
Brevo’s structure
Brevo combines monthly email volume with contact allowances, automation rules, seats and channel credits. The public interface showed Starter at $8.08 monthly with annual billing or $9 with monthly billing for 5,000 emails and 500 contacts. Standard starts at $18 and adds automation, A/B testing, advanced reporting and AI send-time optimization. Brevo’s help documentation lists Professional from $499 monthly. Confirm the live configuration before purchase at Brevo’s email-marketing page.
Useful volume scenarios
| Scenario | What to check |
|---|---|
| 1,000 contacts and 5,000 emails/month | Both free tiers may work, but Mailjet’s 200-per-day cap and Brevo’s daily limit affect campaign timing. |
| 10,000 contacts and 20,000 emails/month | Mailjet Essential’s unlimited-contact positioning may be attractive; compare Brevo’s contact tier and automation requirement. |
| 100,000 contacts and 50,000 emails/month | Contact pricing and automation eligibility can outweigh the email-volume price. |
| Several million transactional messages | Model throughput, overages, dedicated IPs, API limits, logs and support; a transactional specialist may be more suitable. |
Free-plan limits and downgrade risks
- Mailjet’s free plan has both a 6,000-email monthly allowance and a 200-email daily cap. Exceeding 1,000 contacts can put sending on hold until you reduce the list or upgrade.
- Mailjet downgrades can remove segmentation, automation, dynamic content, A/B testing, landing pages, collaboration and branding removal. Active workflows may pause.
- Brevo Starter emails can retain a “Sent by Brevo” logo unless the branding-removal add-on is selected. SMS and WhatsApp are separately usage-priced.
- Neither plan’s email allowance should be interpreted as unlimited automation, seats or contact storage.
Campaign creation, segmentation and collaboration
Mailjet is oriented toward teams producing email together. Paid features include a Brand Kit, address validation, device previews, segmentation, dynamic content, advanced statistics and A/B testing. Account sharing supports marketer and developer roles; documentation is available at Mailjet account sharing.
Brevo emphasizes campaign creation, contact management, landing pages, web push, segmentation, A/B testing, AI send-time optimization and advanced reports. It is generally the broader marketing workspace, especially when campaign data must connect with sales or other channels.
Automation: check the gate, not just the feature list
Mailjet’s current visual workflow builder is available on Premium 15,000 and higher plans. Supported triggers include subscription events, opens, clicks, contact properties and external purchase events or webhooks. A low-cost Mailjet newsletter plan therefore may not support a lifecycle program. See Mailjet’s automation documentation.
Rank #2
Brevo documents marketing automation, A/B testing and advanced reporting on Standard. Verify the current trigger types, automation-contact rules and message eligibility in the plan matrix before committing, because contact and email limits are separate purchasing considerations.
Transactional email, SMTP and APIs
| Developer question | Mailjet | Brevo |
|---|---|---|
| API and SMTP | REST API and SMTP Relay | Transactional email and API within the Brevo platform |
| Templates and variables | Transactional templates and dynamic data | Transactional templates; confirm current API version and SDK behavior |
| Events and webhooks | Event tracking and webhooks | Use current Brevo developer documentation for event details |
| Traffic separation | Subaccounts can separate credentials, reporting and marketing/transactional streams | Evaluate workspace and stream-separation options for your plan |
Mailjet explains API access at its API documentation and subaccount behavior at its subaccount guide. Subaccounts are separate: contacts, templates, statistics and other assets are not automatically shared.
For password resets, receipts and account alerts, test API error reporting, event latency, suppression handling, rendering, throughput and operational logs. A marketing platform’s campaign editor does not automatically equal the isolation and observability of a transactional specialist.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Deliverability: no universal winner
There is no sound evidence here that Mailjet or Brevo universally places more mail in the inbox. Results depend on SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment, consent, complaint and bounce rates, engagement, sending consistency, links, IP reputation and recipient-provider policies. Dedicated IPs do not automatically improve delivery.
- Authenticate the sending domain and align SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
- Use separate subdomains or streams for marketing and transactional mail where appropriate.
- Warm new domains or IPs gradually.
- Remove hard bounces and inactive recipients.
- Keep consent records and never purchase lists.
- Monitor complaints and reputation at Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and business domains.
- Interpret open rates cautiously because privacy features distort them.
CRM, SMS, WhatsApp and multichannel scope
Brevo’s distinction is breadth: its current platform combines campaigns, transactional messages, SMS, WhatsApp, web push, landing pages, contact management, automation and sales-related tools. Choose it when one vendor for these channels is more valuable than a narrowly focused email service.
Rank #3
Mailjet is the more focused email product. It can suit a company whose primary channels are newsletters and application email and whose team needs shared templates, role separation, previews, validation and subaccounts.
Privacy and GDPR considerations
Neither service makes a customer automatically compliant. Review the data-processing agreement, subprocessors, retention and deletion controls, residency, access permissions and consent records, then configure tracking to match local law.
Mailjet’s guidance notes that an automatically triggered message is not necessarily legally transactional. It also warns that using individual open data for personalization, profiling or optimization may require consent in some jurisdictions. Read Mailjet’s tracking and consent guidance and obtain appropriate legal advice for your situation.
Migration checklist
- Export contacts, consent metadata and suppression lists.
- Export templates, campaign statistics and reports where available.
- Recreate segments, forms, landing pages and automation journeys.
- Authenticate the sending domain and plan DNS changes.
- Replace API keys, SMTP credentials and webhook endpoints.
- Verify unsubscribe, bounce and complaint behavior.
- Run parallel rendering and delivery tests.
- Warm the domain or IP gradually before moving all production traffic.

Newsletters and email-first teams
Choose Mailjet when collaboration, previews, validation, role-based access and predictable volume pricing matter. Choose Brevo when landing pages, automation or additional channels are part of the same program.
SaaS transactional email
Either can provide API and SMTP delivery, but test production-like events before switching. For a high-volume, transactional-only workload, compare Postmark, Resend, Mailgun or Amazon SES as specialists.

Brevo is the broader starting point for multichannel journeys. If deep ecommerce segmentation and revenue attribution are central, also evaluate Klaviyo.
Agencies and multi-brand teams
Mailjet’s subaccounts and role model can simplify separation, but verify asset isolation and client export requirements. Check Brevo’s seat, workspace and add-on rules for each brand.
Large lists with moderate sends
Mailjet Essential or higher may be economical because contacts are unlimited on those plans. Brevo can still win when its contact allowance and automation configuration are cheaper for your exact list.
Advanced CRM automation
Brevo is closer to this requirement; ActiveCampaign may be a better fit when lead scoring and complex CRM workflows dominate.
Best Value
Bottom line
Pick Brevo for email plus SMS, WhatsApp, web push, automation, contacts and lightweight CRM in one platform. Pick Mailjet for an email-focused service with volume-oriented pricing, unlimited contacts on paid plans, strong marketer–developer workflows and useful subaccounts. Price the actual configuration—not the headline tier—and test transactional delivery before moving critical traffic.
