Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallYes—NetSuite can print checks in-house. The simplest method is to create checks in NetSuite, mark them To Be Printed, generate a PDF, and print it on compatible preprinted check stock. Printing every banking element, including the MICR line, onto completely blank stock is a different project that normally requires specialized software, hardware, controls, and bank validation.
This guide covers the native workflow, check stock, permissions, templates, batch printing, alignment, numbering errors, and alternatives.
Choose the right do-it-yourself method
| Requirement | Recommended approach | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Print transaction details on compatible forms | Native NetSuite PDF printing | Use stock designed for the selected layout and bank account. |
| Add logos, remittance fields, or approval information | Advanced PDF/HTML Templates | Template customization does not provide MICR printing or bank certification. |
| Print a complete check on blank MICR stock | Specialized MICR software and printer, integrated with NetSuite | NetSuite documentation does not establish a universal native blank-stock MICR procedure. |
| Reduce physical check handling | Electronic payments, bank-printed checks, or an integrated payment provider | Fees, implementation, and vendor or bank dependency may apply. |
Oracle documents printing on blank paper as an option, but ordinary office paper is not the same as compliant blank MICR check stock. Use plain paper for previews, alignment tests, and internal copies—not as an assumed production check.
What NetSuite prints
NetSuite can print an individual check immediately or several checks from the print queue. Depending on the transaction form and template, the PDF can contain the payee, date, amount, memo or reference, company information, check number, and voucher or remittance detail. The exact fields are controlled by the selected form and layout (Oracle check-printing documentation).

Standard versus Voucher checks
| Type | Physical layout | Key constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Three checks on an 8.5-by-11-inch sheet | Use stock made for the standard arrangement. |
| Voucher | One check at the top with voucher information below | NetSuite documents a maximum of 19 line items on the voucher section; additional items do not appear there. |
Set the account default at Setup > Company > Preferences > Printing & Fax, on the Printing subtab under Check Printing. Choose Standard or Voucher and save (Oracle check-type guidance).
Requirements checklist
- A checking account configured in NetSuite.
- A role with the documented access: View level of Set Up Company to print transactions and the Print Checks and Forms permission for the print page (Oracle permissions guidance).
- Compatible Standard or Voucher stock, usually ordered through the NetSuite Forms Fulfillment Center.
- A printer that reliably feeds the stock and a PDF viewer.
- A controlled process for check numbers, approvals, spoiled forms, mailing, and reconciliation.
- Plain paper for alignment tests before consuming numbered stock.
Account edition, subsidiaries, enabled features, custom forms, and role permissions can change which labels and pages appear.
Create a check in NetSuite
Write a check directly
- Go to Transactions > Bank > Write Checks.
- Select the checking account and payee.
- Enter the date and the applicable expense, item, class, department, location, or other accounting dimensions.
- Select To Be Printed if NetSuite should produce the physical check.
- Save, or use Save & Print when that action is available.
To Be Printed places the transaction in the print queue. If the check was already handwritten or printed elsewhere, leave that box clear and record the physical check number instead (NetSuite check record reference).

Pay a vendor bill
- Open the vendor bill and click Make Payment.
- Apply the bill or bills being paid and select the correct bank account.
- Enter or confirm the check number.
- Mark the payment for printing if the account and form configuration provide that option.
- Save the bill payment.
- Print it from Transactions > Management > Print Checks and Forms.
A bill payment applies liabilities to invoices; a direct written check records a check without that bill-payment path. Confirm approvals and applications before printing.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPrint one check safely
- Generate the check PDF with Save & Print or the transaction’s print action.
- Print the PDF on plain paper first.
- Place the test sheet over the check stock and hold both against a light source to compare boxes, payee line, date, amount, and signature areas.
- In the PDF print dialog, set Page Scaling to None and clear automatic scaling options (Oracle scaling instructions).
- Run one live test on the actual stock, verify the printed number against NetSuite and the physical form, then proceed to a batch.
NetSuite does not support printing checks in the middle of a page. Buy stock designed for the supported layout rather than relying on a template to compensate for unusual dimensions (Oracle form limitations).
Print a batch
- Go to Transactions > Management > Print Checks and Forms.
- Select Checks.
- Select the bank account.
- Review the queued checks and select only those approved for printing.
- Confirm Standard or Voucher as appropriate.
- Enter or confirm the first check number.
- Choose back-to-front printing where applicable.
- Click Print and print the resulting PDF from Adobe Reader or your system PDF viewer.
The selected account controls which checks appear. Review the queue and sequence before printing because the PDF, physical stock, and accounting records must remain synchronized.

Customize the printed form
For new customization work, enable Advanced PDF/HTML Templates and give the administrator the Advanced PDF/HTML Templates setup permission at Full level (feature enablement; permissions). Administrators can start with a standard template, edit it, preview it, and associate it with a custom transaction form. Oracle says new enhancements are delivered to advanced printing and older layout systems are planned for removal, although account availability varies (Advanced PDF/HTML Templates).
To inspect a basic check layout, go to Customization > Forms > Transaction Form PDF Layouts, click Customize beside the relevant layout, and choose Preview (Oracle layout instructions). A custom PDF can change presentation, but it does not automatically add MICR capability, positive-pay files, signature security, or bank approval.
Blank-stock MICR printing: the reality
A complete blank-stock check requires more than a NetSuite PDF. The implementation may involve MICR-capable printing equipment, specialized toner or ink, secure signature handling, check-stock controls, software that receives NetSuite data, and bank validation. NetSuite’s native documentation does not certify ordinary office printers or provide a universal procedure for generating a complete MICR check from blank paper.

- Built-in wireless – print from your network, tablets and smartphones.

Products such as VersaCheck (official software page), MultiCHAX (official product page), and PrintBoss (official product page) advertise check or MICR capabilities, but the cited pages do not establish a native NetSuite integration. Treat them as possible standalone or intermediary tools only after confirming the current NetSuite data workflow, supported edition, security model, and bank requirements. Prices and features change.

The check was saved but is not in the queue
- Go to Transactions > Bank > Write Checks > List.
- Edit the check and select To Be Printed.
- Save, then return to Transactions > Management > Print Checks and Forms.
- Select Checks, the correct bank account, and the transaction.
Also verify that the transaction was not already printed, that you are in the correct subsidiary or account context, and that your role has the required permission.
The check is shifted, clipped, or the wrong size
- Set PDF scaling to None.
- Confirm paper size, orientation, printer tray, driver settings, and paper guides.
- Verify that the stock matches Standard or Voucher output.
- Confirm the expected custom form and template are being used.
The PDF is blank or will not generate
For an invalid PDF-layout error, try Home > Set Preferences > Transaction, clear Print Using HTML, change the transaction email attachment format from HTML to PDF, and save (Oracle troubleshooting step). Persistent template errors should go to the NetSuite administrator or support.

The number is wrong or the same number must be reprinted
If the check has been issued, void it before reprinting. If it has not been issued, mark it To Be Printed, change the number to match the next blank form, and print again. For a genuine reprint of the same number, change First Check Number on the print page; NetSuite displays a duplicate-number warning that must be acknowledged (Oracle reprint procedure).
Before any reprint, establish whether the original reached the printer, was damaged, mailed, issued, or could have been negotiated. A printing failure is not automatically an accounting failure.
Controls that prevent fraud and reconciliation problems
- Restrict check creation, printing, and template administration to appropriate roles.
- Keep blank and numbered stock in a controlled location.
- Log the first and last numbers printed in each batch.
- Void and securely destroy spoiled forms; retain evidence of the void.
- Separate payment approval from physical printing where practical.
- Investigate every duplicate-number warning.
- Reconcile NetSuite numbers to the bank statement and positive-pay process where used.
- Remember that printing, issuing, mailing, clearing, and reconciling are separate events.
Recommendation
For most small and midsize U.S. businesses, use NetSuite’s native PDF workflow with compatible preprinted Standard or Voucher stock. Test alignment on plain paper, print one live check, verify the number, and only then run a batch. Treat complete blank-stock MICR printing as a separate implementation requiring specialized tools, bank confirmation, and stronger operational controls.
