In the U.S., the benefits most likely to deliver real value are complimentary Grubhub+, unlimited full-resolution photo storage, fuel discounts, Amazon Family, Prime Reading and First Reads. But many perks require activation, linking an account, meeting an order minimum or using a participating merchant.

The five Prime benefits to check first
- Grubhub+: A complimentary membership can reduce eligible delivery fees and provide pickup credits.
- Amazon Photos: Prime includes unlimited full-resolution photo storage, plus 5 GB for videos.
- Fuel savings: Linking a free earnify account can provide 10 cents off per gallon at participating stations.
- Amazon Family: You can share many benefits with one other adult and up to four children in your household.
- Prime Reading and First Reads: Members get rotating digital reading material and a selected early-access Kindle book each month.
These are not equally valuable for everyone. A frequent restaurant-delivery customer may save more with Grubhub+, while a household with a large photo library may get more value from Amazon Photos. Treat Amazon’s headline valuations as possibilities, not guaranteed savings.
Which benefits are included with Prime?
A standard U.S. Prime membership generally includes:

- Complimentary Grubhub+ after activation.
- Fuel savings after linking the required loyalty account.
- Amazon Family household sharing.
- Buy with Prime benefits on participating non-Amazon websites.
- Alexa+ for eligible U.S. Prime members as the rollout continues.
Some included benefits are not automatic. You may need to link Grubhub or Twitch, create and connect an earnify account, claim Prime Gaming content or set up Amazon Family. Other services associated with Prime are paid add-ons, including Amazon Music Unlimited, Audible Premium Plus after a trial, RxPass, One Medical, Prime Video channels and expanded video storage in Amazon Photos.
1. Grubhub+: the easiest benefit to turn into savings
Prime members can activate a complimentary Grubhub+ membership. Amazon says Grubhub+ includes $0 delivery fees on eligible orders, lower service fees, 5% credit back on pickup orders and other offers. Amazon values the standalone membership at $120 per year, but that is not a promise that every Prime member will save $120.
To activate it, open Amazon’s Grubhub+ offer page while signed in, choose the activation option, then link an existing Grubhub account or create one. Before ordering, confirm that the restaurant and order qualify.
Do not read “free Grubhub+” as “free delivery everywhere.” Participating restaurants, order minimums, geography and other restrictions apply. Taxes, tips, small-order fees, service fees, menu-price differences and promotional conditions may remain. Compare the final Grubhub total with the restaurant’s direct-ordering price.

A practical test is simple: if you place two or three eligible orders each month, do the waived fees and pickup credits exceed the difference between Grubhub and ordering directly or using another service?
2. Fuel savings at participating stations
Prime members can receive 10 cents off per gallon at more than 7,500 participating bp, Amoco and participating ampm locations in the U.S. Amazon says the offer requires a free earnify account linked to Prime. Amazon estimates nearly $70 in annual savings using an assumption of 675 gallons per year; your savings depend on how much you drive and where you buy fuel.
Create or sign in to earnify, link your Prime membership, and follow the app’s instructions for using the linked loyalty account or qualifying payment method. Confirm that the discount appears before completing the transaction. The exact payment flow can change, so check Amazon’s fuel-benefit instructions and earnify.

A participating station is not automatically the cheapest station. Compare its undiscounted price with nearby competitors, warehouse-club fuel, grocery fuel points and card rewards. A station may display the right brand but not participate, and temporary promotions can have different dates, gallon limits or location rules. EV charging offers should not be assumed to be part of this standard benefit.
3. Amazon Photos: unlimited photos, but not unlimited video
Prime includes unlimited full-resolution photo storage through Amazon Photos and 5 GB of video storage. That can replace or supplement a paid photo-storage plan for someone with a large library. Amazon Photos can also share images and display them on compatible Amazon devices.
Install the Amazon Photos app, sign in with the Prime account and enable automatic photo backup. Review whether videos are uploading: the video allowance is limited to 5 GB. If you use multiple Amazon accounts, verify that every family member is uploading to the account with the Prime benefit.
Do not treat syncing as your only backup. Periodically export important originals to an independent backup and review what happens to your storage access if Prime ends. Automatic uploads can also consume mobile data, battery and computer storage.
4. Amazon Family: share with your household, not casually with friends
Amazon Family lets a Prime member share many benefits with one other adult and up to four children in the household. Shared benefits can include Prime Video and selected digital content such as Kindle books, audiobooks and games.

Amazon’s current household-based approach is important because older articles may recommend sharing Prime shipping with friends or multiple adults outside the home. Reporting in 2025 described the move away from the older Prime Invitee program; see Axios’ coverage for context. Use Amazon Family rather than relying on outdated sharing advice.
There is a significant privacy and financial trade-off: adult household sharing can involve a payment wallet or payment methods. Review precisely what will be shared before accepting. This is not simply a risk-free password-sharing feature.

5. Prime Reading and First Reads
Prime Reading
Prime Reading offers a rotating selection of digital books, magazines, comics, manga, audiobooks and related content. Amazon has described the catalog as containing more than 3,000 titles, but the selection changes continuously and can vary by marketplace and account region.
Prime Reading is not Kindle Unlimited and does not include every Kindle book or every bestseller. You do not need a Kindle device; the free Kindle app works on compatible phones, tablets and computers. Search Amazon for Prime Reading, open the Prime Reading section, and check that a title is marked as included before borrowing it.

Amazon First Reads is separate from Prime Reading. It lets Prime members choose a selected Kindle book, generally from a monthly editorial selection, before wider publication. Some current summaries also describe a bonus short read. Check the monthly page while signed in and confirm the offer before selecting a book.
Prime Reading is a rotating catalog; First Reads is a monthly selection. Neither should be confused with purchasing a normal Kindle book or subscribing to Kindle Unlimited.
6. Prime Gaming, Twitch and Luna
These are three related but different benefits:
- Prime Gaming: Free games and in-game content that generally must be claimed during an availability window.
- Twitch: One free monthly subscription to a Twitch channel after linking Amazon and Twitch. It does not make every channel free.
- Luna: Access to a rotating included catalog, including GameNight and rotating PC games where offered. The catalog is not every Luna game.
Visit Prime Gaming, link the required accounts and claim available items. In Luna, check the current included catalog and confirm controller, platform, internet and cloud-streaming requirements. Claimed PC games may require another launcher or account, in-game content can be platform-specific, and a game rotating out of Luna may no longer be playable through the included catalog. Twitch subscriptions may expire monthly rather than roll over.
7. Amazon Music Prime is not Music Unlimited
Prime members receive access to more than 100 million songs and podcasts through Amazon Music Prime, but the listening experience differs from Amazon Music Unlimited. Amazon describes Prime Music as including shuffle listening and All-Access Playlists, while Music Unlimited is a separate upgrade.

Casual listeners may find Music Prime sufficient; people who want a specific song on demand may need Music Unlimited. Compare the controls, offline options and plan terms in the current Amazon Music service before paying for an upgrade.

8. Pharmacy savings and RxPass
Amazon Pharmacy provides cash-price comparisons and manufacturer coupons on eligible prescriptions. RxPass is separate and costs $5 per month for eligible generic medications. It is most promising for Prime members who pay out of pocket, take several eligible generics and spend more than $5 per month on them.
RxPass may be a poor deal if insurance copays are lower, a medication is excluded, availability is limited or delivery timing is inconvenient. Search the medication on Amazon Pharmacy’s pricing page, compare insurance and cash prices, check RxPass eligibility and compare the total with your current pharmacy, manufacturer coupons and alternatives such as GoodRx.
Also verify state and prescription requirements, refills, delivery timing and whether a prescriber must transfer or renew the prescription. Ask a pharmacist or prescriber before changing a medication-delivery arrangement. RxPass is not universal coverage for all generic prescriptions and is not a reason to switch pharmacies without a price and care comparison.

9. One Medical is discounted, not free
Amazon describes a discounted One Medical membership for Prime members at $9 per month or $99 annually, compared with $199 annually for non-Prime members. It also describes additional family memberships at $6 per month or $66 annually each.
That is a separate healthcare membership, not a free Prime benefit. It may make sense for someone already considering One Medical, but it does not necessarily replace insurance, in-person primary care, specialist care or a local doctor. Check provider availability, appointment access, insurance arrangements and the service’s limitations.
Amazon also advertises five free message-based provider visits in 2026 through Health AI for eligible members. These should not be treated as five free office visits or unlimited medical advice. Confirm eligibility, dates and message-visit limits before relying on the offer.

Amazon says Alexa+ is included at no additional charge for Prime members in the U.S., but its public information describes the service as rolling out through Early Access. Availability can vary by account, compatible device and app version. Features may change during rollout.

Check your Alexa app and Amazon’s current Alexa+ information rather than assuming every Prime member can immediately use every feature. Alexa+ is distinct from older Alexa functions that may already be available.
11. Buy with Prime outside Amazon.com
Buy with Prime lets participating brands offer Prime delivery, checkout and returns on their own websites. It can be useful when a product is sold directly by a brand and the checkout visibly shows Buy with Prime.
This is not a universal Prime shipping entitlement for every online store. The merchant must participate, and delivery, return and customer-service policies can differ. Compare the product’s total price and terms with Amazon and the brand’s ordinary checkout.
12. Grocery delivery and local delivery perks
Prime grocery benefits can include free same-day grocery delivery above a threshold in many areas, local delivery options and Prime-exclusive savings. But there is no single nationwide rule to memorize. Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market and other grocery services can have different minimums, fees, delivery windows and ZIP-code coverage. Amazon has published both a $25 same-day threshold in most areas and a $100 Amazon Fresh threshold in other material.
Enter your ZIP code, select the specific grocery service and inspect checkout. Account for service fees, tips, minimum orders and delivery windows. A Prime-exclusive grocery discount may be more valuable than delivery alone.
Discounted Prime tiers
Some households should not pay the standard rate:
- Prime Access: Qualifying customers can receive a 30-day trial and then pay $6.99 per month after eligibility verification. See Amazon’s eligibility information.
- Prime for Young Adults: Eligible 18- to 24-year-olds and higher-education students can receive a six-month trial, followed by $7.49 per month or $69 per year. See the enrollment page.
Eligibility, verification and billing terms apply. A discounted membership is still a poor value if you use none of its benefits.
How to calculate whether Prime pays for itself
At $139 per year, the annual plan requires about $11.58 per month, or $2.67 per week, in realized value to break even. Count only costs you actually avoid:
- Shipping fees you would otherwise pay.
- Eligible Grubhub fees and pickup credits you actually use.
- Fuel discounts at stations you would realistically choose.
- Photo-storage costs replaced by Amazon Photos.
- Reading, gaming or music services you would otherwise purchase.
- Prescription savings after the $5 RxPass fee.
- Grocery delivery fees you actually avoid.
- Value from household sharing.
Assign a benefit a value of $0 if you would not use it. Someone who never orders Grubhub should not count the $120 membership valuation. Someone with no eligible prescriptions should not count RxPass. Conversely, a household with frequent deliveries, a large photo archive and multiple readers may exceed the break-even point without using every perk.
Activation checklist
- Open Amazon’s Prime benefits overview and confirm your membership status.
- Activate and link Grubhub+, then check eligibility at checkout.
- Create or connect earnify before buying fuel.
- Install Amazon Photos and enable photo backup; remember the 5 GB video limit.
- Set up Amazon Family only after reviewing adult payment and content-sharing terms.
- Link Twitch and claim the monthly channel subscription.
- Visit Prime Gaming and claim time-limited games and in-game content.
- Check Prime Reading, First Reads and Luna separately.
- Compare Amazon Pharmacy prices and RxPass eligibility with insurance and local alternatives.
- Check One Medical and Alexa+ only if their separate terms and rollout status fit your needs.
- Look for Buy with Prime at participating brand websites and verify the final price.
- Enter your ZIP code to inspect current grocery delivery options and minimums.
Before canceling Prime, review linked services, photo storage, household sharing and any discounted memberships. Some benefits may end, require reactivation or trigger separate payment or storage decisions after cancellation.
