Engadget’s tested-and-approved picks included Apple headphones, iPads and MacBooks; Sonos speakers; Anker and Soundcore accessories; and other consumer technology. They remain useful as benchmarks for judging future discounts—but do not assume a product is still available at the listed price.

The strongest Apple deals
10th-generation iPad — $299
At $299, the 10th-generation iPad was arguably the most broadly useful Apple bargain in the roundup. It suits browsing, streaming, note-taking, video calls and light schoolwork, especially for buyers already using Apple devices.

Before treating that price as a target today, check the storage configuration and compare it with newer iPad generations. The tablet’s purchase price is only part of the budget: a keyboard, case, stylus and cellular service can materially increase the total cost. Android-only households should also compare less expensive Android tablets rather than paying for Apple’s ecosystem.
13-inch M3 MacBook Air — $850
The 13-inch M3 MacBook Air at $850 was a strong 2024 laptop price, provided the configuration had enough memory and storage for the buyer’s workload. It was a good fit for writing, web work, school, office applications and everyday photo editing.
By 2026, however, the M3 model is a previous-generation machine. Compare its memory, SSD capacity, warranty and condition with newer Apple silicon MacBook Air models. A slightly more expensive newer model may offer better longevity, while a discounted M3 remains sensible only when the configuration and support coverage are attractive.

AirPods Pro — $169
The historical $169 price made AirPods Pro a compelling choice for iPhone users who wanted active noise cancellation, hands-free Apple integration and a compact charging case. The original headline alone does not establish the exact generation, so buyers should verify the model number and features on the product page.

Compare the price with current AirPods and competing ANC earbuds before buying an older sealed, renewed or marketplace listing.
Other Apple offers
- Apple AirTag: $24, or $5 off. It is a strong fit for iPhone owners using Apple’s Find My network, but a poor choice for Android-only households.
- Apple Watch Series 9: $280. It requires an iPhone for normal setup and use; cellular versions may add carrier fees.
- AirPods Max: $395. Consider their weight, size and ecosystem value alongside newer or lighter over-ear headphones.
- 13-inch M2 MacBook Air: $799. This was cheaper than the M3 model but even older by 2026, making configuration, battery condition and warranty especially important.
Sonos: choose by room and ecosystem
Sonos Era 100 — $199
The Era 100 was one of the better historical picks for someone building or expanding a Sonos system. Engadget highlighted its sound quality, stereo pairing, Trueplay tuning, Bluetooth, line-in support, Alexa compatibility and Sonos voice-assistant support.

It makes the most sense when the buyer expects to use networked multiroom audio or add a second speaker later. Someone who wants a simple, independent Bluetooth speaker may find Sonos app and network setup unnecessary. Stereo pairing also means the real cost can be double the single-speaker price.
Sonos Ray — $199
The Ray was positioned as a compact soundbar with good sound, useful bass and a small footprint. It is best considered for a smaller TV setup where space matters.

Check the television’s connection options and the buyer’s expectations before choosing it. The Ray is not the right purchase for someone specifically seeking HDMI-rich connectivity, Dolby Atmos or a large home-theater presentation. As with the Era 100, the $199 figure was a Prime Day 2024 price, not a current quote.

Anker and Soundcore picks
Soundcore Space A40 — $49
At $49, the Space A40 offered a persuasive budget route to active noise cancellation. Engadget’s rationale also cited wireless charging, multipoint pairing and roughly eight to 10 hours of listening time.
The trade-off is typical of inexpensive ANC earbuds: buyers may give up some microphone quality, transparency performance, codec support or call reliability compared with premium models. Multipoint and other features can also behave differently across iOS and Android. Compare the price with newer Soundcore models before assuming the older A40 is the better value.
Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K — $63
The MagGo Power Bank 10K was described as a Qi2-certified 10,000mAh wireless charger capable of 15W output. The original coverage reported charging an iPhone 15 from nearly empty to about 50 percent in roughly 45 minutes, but that result depends on the phone, temperature, case and whether the device is being used while charging.

Confirm that the phone and case support the relevant Qi2 or magnetic-charging setup. Camera bumps, thick cases and non-compatible devices can prevent reliable alignment. A wired USB-C power bank may be cheaper, faster or more versatile if magnetic convenience is not important.

These products should be treated as examples of the 2024 sale selection, not as recommendations to pay those exact amounts now. The LG C3, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Apple Watch Series 9 and M3 MacBook Air are particularly important to evaluate against newer generations.
How to decide whether an old Prime Day price is still a good benchmark
- Check the exact listing. Confirm generation, storage, memory, size, connectivity, color and whether the item is new, renewed, refurbished or open-box.
- Compare price history. A displayed “$80 off” is not proof of a bargain. Amazon said eligible product pages could show up to 365 days of price history during its 2026 shopping experience, but availability of that feature can vary.
- Compare newer models. Older hardware is worthwhile only when the price gap reflects its shorter remaining support life or missing features.
- Check seller and warranty details. Marketplace sellers can differ in fulfillment, returns, warranty coverage and authenticity. Amazon’s deal availability and prices can change.
- Calculate ownership cost. Add accessories, subscriptions, cellular service and replacement filters, brushes, bags or mop supplies where relevant.
- Set a buy threshold. Use the historical price as a ceiling or reference point, not as evidence that today’s listing is automatically good value.
Amazon Prime membership was reported at $14.99 per month or $139 per year in its 2026 announcement, but membership pricing can change. Joining solely for one purchase makes sense only when the savings and other benefits exceed the membership cost. See Amazon’s Prime page for current terms.
What the original headline gets wrong today
“End tonight” was accurate only for the final hours of Prime Day 2024. It should not be reused as a live call to action in August 2026. Amazon’s 2026 event ended at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on June 26, or 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time on June 27. Deals from either event may have sold out, changed price or become unavailable.
The original roundup described picks that Engadget editors had tested and approved. That attribution matters: it does not mean a new writer personally tested every product, and it does not establish that each product remains the best choice after newer models have launched.
Where to price-check
Use Apple’s store to compare current generations and warranty options, Sonos for current speaker and soundbar configurations, Anker for charging products, and Soundcore for its current audio range. If you buy through Amazon, verify the seller, fulfillment method, condition, return terms and exact variant. Any commission relationship should be disclosed clearly; the original Engadget page disclosed that it may receive commissions on purchases.
