The defense-technology company was reportedly seeking about $4 billion at an approximately $60 billion valuation. The financing later closed in May as a $5 billion Series H round valuing Anduril at $61 billion, led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
That is the confirmed financing valuation—not necessarily an objective measure of what the privately held company is worth. In July, reports said Anduril was discussing another round that could value it at about $100 billion, but that financing had not been reported as closed as of July 24, 2026.
What Anduril’s March funding report actually said
On March 3, 2026, TechCrunch reported that Anduril was pursuing a multibillion-dollar financing at an approximate $60 billion valuation.
The preliminary terms reportedly involved:
- Approximately $4 billion in new capital;
- A valuation of about $60 billion;
- Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz as expected lead investors; and
- Possible participation from Lux Capital and Founders Fund.
Those figures described a financing under negotiation. They were not the terms of a completed transaction. TechCrunch also cited an earlier Bloomberg report that put the possible fundraising amount as high as $8 billion. The difference matters: the approximately $4 billion figure and the higher $8 billion possibility were separate reported estimates, not a single confirmed amount.

Did Anduril’s $60 billion round close?
Yes. The reported March fundraising process culminated in a completed $5 billion Series H financing, announced May 13, 2026. The round valued Anduril at $61 billion and was led by returning investors Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, according to TechCrunch’s report on the closing.
| Point in time | Reported terms | Status |
|---|---|---|
| March 3, 2026 | About $4 billion at roughly $60 billion | Planned or discussed financing |
| May 13, 2026 | $5 billion Series H at $61 billion | Completed financing |
| July 24, 2026 | Possible future round at about $100 billion | Talks reported; not closed |
So the cleanest way to describe the news is that Anduril’s reported $60 billion target became a slightly higher, confirmed $61 billion financing valuation. The earlier $4 billion estimate also became a $5 billion completed raise.
How much did Anduril’s valuation increase?
Anduril’s previous reported valuation was $30.5 billion, set in its June 2025 Series G round. The $61 billion Series H valuation was therefore approximately twice the prior private-market valuation in less than a year.
- Previous valuation: $30.5 billion
- Series H valuation: $61 billion
- Approximate increase: $30.5 billion
- Percentage increase: about 100%
“Valued at $61 billion” does not mean that an independent appraiser established Anduril’s intrinsic worth at exactly that amount. It means investors accepted that valuation when purchasing shares in a private financing. A private financing valuation is also different from a public company’s continuously changing market capitalization and should not automatically be compared with a public contractor’s stock-market value.

What does Anduril do?
Anduril is a privately held defense-technology company founded by Palmer Luckey. It is often described as an artificial-intelligence or robotics company, but that shorthand leaves out much of its business model.
Its work spans:
- Autonomous aircraft, drones, and other vehicles;
- Counter-drone systems;
- Sensors and surveillance technology;
- The Lattice command-and-control software platform;
- Military hardware and integrated defense systems; and
- Manufacturing and delivery for U.S. and allied government customers.
That combination of software, physical systems, autonomy, manufacturing capacity, and government procurement is central to the company’s valuation story. Anduril is not simply selling an AI application with low marginal distribution costs. It is attempting to build and deploy complex defense products at scale.
Why investors may support such a large financing
The investment case is based on several trends, although none guarantees that the valuation will ultimately be justified.

Governments are seeking more drones, autonomous platforms, sensors, and software as military organizations modernize. Conflicts and changing defense strategies have increased attention on systems that can be produced and deployed in larger numbers.
A broader market for defense technology
Venture investors increasingly view defense technology as a substantial commercial market rather than a narrow sector dominated exclusively by traditional contractors. The funding activity of other companies supports that narrative. TechCrunch reported that Shield AI raised $1.5 billion at a $12.7 billion valuation in March 2026, while Hermeus raised $350 million at a valuation above $1 billion. Helsing was also reported to be pursuing approximately $1.2 billion at an estimated $18 billion valuation.

Reported revenue growth
Anduril CEO Brian Schimpf said the company’s revenue doubled to approximately $2.2 billion in 2025, according to the May financing coverage. That is a company-reported revenue figure, not audited financial information presented here. Revenue growth can strengthen an investor’s argument for a higher valuation, but it does not by itself establish profitability, cash flow, or a particular return for investors.
Software combined with vertically integrated hardware
Anduril’s strategy combines the potential benefits of software with the strategic control of designing and manufacturing hardware. The approach may help the company tailor systems for military use and deliver integrated products, but it also requires factories, inventory, specialized employees, testing, and significant capital.
What will Anduril use the money for?
The strongest reported use-of-funds theme is production scale, not merely additional AI research.
The financing is intended to support areas including:
- Manufacturing expansion;
- Inventory and production ramp-up;
- Hiring and workforce growth;
- Development and delivery of autonomous defense systems; and
- Expansion into additional U.S. and allied-government contracts.
One secondary report connected the company’s plans with the Arsenal-1 manufacturing facility in Ohio. That detail should be treated as attributed reporting rather than a definitive statement of the final financing’s full use of proceeds. More broadly, the raise gives Anduril capital to build capacity ahead of expected demand and to pursue larger government programs.

What could challenge the $61 billion valuation?
A large financing shows that major investors were willing to commit capital at that price. It does not eliminate the risks involved in turning defense-technology demand into durable financial results.

Government-contract dependence
Anduril’s customers include governments, so revenue depends on procurement decisions, appropriations, contract awards, political priorities, and military requirements. A promising prototype or development contract does not guarantee a large production order.
Manufacturing and execution risk
Scaling defense hardware is difficult. Factories and inventory require capital before products generate revenue, and delays, supply-chain problems, quality issues, or cost overruns can affect margins and delivery schedules.
Technology, safety, and cybersecurity risk
Autonomous systems must meet demanding requirements for reliability, testing, cybersecurity, safety, and rules of engagement. Technical progress alone is not enough if a system cannot satisfy customers’ operational and regulatory standards.
Private-company opacity
Unlike a public company, Anduril does not provide the same continuous financial disclosure to the general market. Outside investors therefore have less visibility into its profitability, debt, cash consumption, contract economics, and ownership structure than they would for a listed defense contractor.

Valuation expectations
Moving from $30.5 billion to $61 billion in less than a year creates high expectations. A financing valuation can rise because of competition among investors, strategic enthusiasm, or expectations about future contracts—not only because current earnings have doubled.
Ethical and political scrutiny
Autonomous weapons and defense AI can draw scrutiny from policymakers, employees, civil-society organizations, and customers. Those debates can influence procurement, product design, hiring, and the pace at which systems are adopted.
Is Anduril now worth $100 billion?
Not on the evidence available as of July 24, 2026. Later reporting from Defense News and Axios said Anduril was discussing another financing that could value the company at approximately $100 billion.
That is a possible future valuation, not a completed round. It should not be combined with the confirmed $61 billion Series H valuation. Until a new financing closes, the latest confirmed private financing valuation remains $61 billion.
What this means for defense-tech venture capital
Anduril’s financing is evidence of substantial investor appetite for defense technology, including both software and physical systems. It is not proof that every defense-tech company will achieve similar growth or that venture capital has replaced traditional defense procurement.
The deal illustrates a changing investment thesis: some investors believe defense companies can pair software-enabled products with large government markets and manufacturing scale. Whether that model produces attractive long-term returns will depend on contract conversion, production economics, product performance, and the company’s ability to sustain growth at increasingly demanding valuations.
For readers thinking about the story from a personal-finance perspective, the key distinction is between a newsworthy private financing and an accessible investment opportunity. A private-company valuation does not mean ordinary investors can buy shares at that price, and it does not provide the liquidity or disclosure associated with a publicly traded stock.
