A stalled tracking page does not by itself mean your parcel is lost. First verify the identifier, check the carrier’s own tracking page, record the last scan and status, then involve the sender and use the carrier’s support or complaint process. Neither Blue Dart nor India Post publishes a universal interval between scans, so there is no evidence-based number of silent hours that automatically proves a shipment has failed.
What a tracking pause actually tells you
Tracking is a record of scans entered at particular operational points, not a live location signal. A parcel can be moving between facilities, waiting for a hand-off, or travelling while the public page still shows the previous event. A quiet page can also reflect an incorrect identifier, a data-entry problem, or a delay in uploading the next scan. Without the shipment record and a carrier investigation, nobody outside the carrier can establish the parcel’s exact location or delivery date.

Do not treat a fixed number of hours or days without a new event as proof of loss. The official material for both services does not promise a common scan cadence or define a universal “stale” threshold. The practical response is to verify the data first, preserve evidence, and escalate through the correct channel if the lack of movement becomes a service problem.
Step 1: verify the number before troubleshooting
Find the identifier on the receipt or dispatch notice
Copy the number directly from the sender’s receipt, dispatch email, SMS, or order record. Check every digit and avoid adding spaces or punctuation unless the carrier’s form displays them. An online order number is not necessarily the carrier’s tracking identifier.

- Blue Dart: the tracking instructions support a waybill number and, where the shipment was set up for it, a reference or order number. Blue Dart describes waybills as varying from eight to 11 digits.
- India Post: use the consignment number printed on the postal receipt or supplied by the sender.
If the sender supplied several numbers, ask which one is the carrier identifier and which one is only an internal order or invoice reference. Keep the original receipt; it can be needed when a formal enquiry is opened.
Step 2: use the carrier’s own tracking page
Blue Dart TrackDart
Open Blue Dart’s TrackDart page and enter the waybill exactly as shown on the receipt. If the shipment was configured for reference tracking, try that reference instead. Blue Dart states that shipments can be tracked for 45 days from the date of dispatch. That is the period during which tracking information is available; it is not a promised delivery time and should not be used as a deadline for deciding that a parcel is lost.
Read the complete event history rather than only the headline status. Blue Dart examples show dated hub events and may display the operational wording “Network Delay, Will Impact Delivery.” That label indicates a delay recorded for that shipment. It does not mean every quiet period will produce a delay label, nor does it establish a timetable for the next scan.
India Post Track Consignment
Use India Post’s official Track Consignment form. Enter the consignment number and complete the security-code prompt shown on the page. If the form rejects the entry, recheck the characters against the receipt; do not substitute the seller’s order number. Save the exact status text and the date and location of the latest event.

A third-party tracking site may display the same public data, but it cannot create a missing carrier scan. When the information conflicts, use the carrier’s own page as the reference record and report the discrepancy to the sender or carrier.
Step 3: capture the evidence while it is visible
Before contacting anyone, make a simple record. Take a screenshot showing the identifier, the latest event, and the date. Write down the destination postcode, dispatch date, sender’s name, and the date and time you checked. Preserve the receipt, invoice, and dispatch message in one place.
- Carrier and service (Blue Dart or India Post, including the postal product if shown).
- Waybill, reference, or consignment number.
- Dispatch date and promised date, if the sender supplied one.
- Most recent scan date, facility or city, and exact status wording.
- Destination address or postcode.
- Names, dates, and reference numbers from every support contact.
This record prevents a support agent from having to reconstruct the case and gives the sender enough information to open an enquiry.
Step 4: contact the sender as well as the carrier
Tell the merchant or sender that the tracking page has not changed, attach the latest screenshot, and provide the identifier and dispatch date. The sender is often the party that purchased the label and can therefore submit a carrier enquiry, provide commercial shipment details, or request a replacement or refund under its own sales terms. Ask the sender to confirm whether the number is correct and whether it has already opened a case.

Do not assume that a recipient can obtain the same investigation result as the booking party. Blue Dart’s retrieved guidance explains tracking but does not establish a dedicated stale-status phone number, a guaranteed response time, or a special recipient escalation timetable. If the sender arranged the shipment, ask it to use the current Blue Dart support or Contact Us route and to give you the enquiry reference.
Blue Dart: what to do when the page remains unchanged
Check the number and tracking window
Re-enter the waybill, then try the sender-provided reference if that option was enabled when the shipment was created. Confirm the dispatch date because Blue Dart’s stated 45-day tracking availability runs from dispatch. A page that cannot be queried after that window does not, by itself, establish what happened to the parcel; the sender’s receipt and carrier enquiry become especially important.
Interpret the last event, not an imagined scan schedule
A dated hub scan identifies the last recorded handling point, not necessarily the parcel’s current location. A “Network Delay, Will Impact Delivery” message is an explicit example of a delay status, but a normal-looking last scan followed by silence can have several explanations. Avoid promising a delivery date based solely on the absence of a new scan.

For an unresolved case, use Blue Dart’s current official Contact Us or support page, or have the sender raise the enquiry. Verify contact details on the live site because numbers, forms, and routing instructions can change. The available Blue Dart material does not support publishing a specific phone number or response deadline for a tracking pause.

India Post: helpline, complaint and escalation route
Customer care
India Post lists customer care at 1800 266 6868. Its Contact Us information lists live call-centre agents from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and an IVRS service 24 hours a day, including Sundays, except gazetted holidays. Confirm the hours on the current Contact Us page before calling, and keep the consignment number ready.
File the first complaint at the transaction post office
For a formal service complaint, India Post’s guidance directs customers to the Postmaster or in-charge of the post office where the transaction took place. It also identifies the Senior Superintendent or Superintendent of Post Offices as a supervisory route. Take the receipt, consignment number, dispatch details, destination, and screenshot of the latest tracking event.
India Post’s complaint guidance says: “Register your complaint in the Post Office where transaction has taken place and get acknowledgement.” Ask for that acknowledgement and retain it. It is the evidence that the complaint was lodged and lets a later office trace the case.
Escalate without inventing a deadline
If the complaint is not resolved in a reasonable time, approach the next higher authority using the published departmental chain. “Reasonable time” is not a fixed number of days in the guidance, so record when you filed the complaint and explain what response, if any, you received. If you remain dissatisfied with the department’s action, the guidance describes the Directorate of Public Grievances as a further route.

For delayed or non-delivered Speed Post, Express Parcel, Business Parcel, Logistics Post, and other premium products, India Post publishes additional Postal Directorate contacts by product category. Use the current official directory and complaint guidance to identify the responsible office rather than relying on an old number copied elsewhere.

When to escalate immediately
Escalate promptly when the address or recipient details are wrong, the parcel is marked delivered but you did not receive it, the status shows a delivery exception, the sender’s dispatch evidence conflicts with the carrier record, or a complaint acknowledgement has produced no meaningful response. These conditions require a case-specific investigation; waiting for another routine scan may not correct an address or delivery dispute.
For an ordinary pause with no exception message, complete the verification sequence first. The absence of a new event is a reason to gather facts and ask the sender for an enquiry, not proof that the parcel has stopped moving.

State the carrier, identifier, dispatch date, destination postcode, and the last scan in the first sentence. Then ask a narrowly defined question: “Please confirm whether this number is valid, what the last recorded handling point is, and whether an enquiry can be opened for the missing update.” For India Post, ask where the complaint is registered and request the acknowledgement number. For Blue Dart, ask the sender or support agent for the enquiry reference and the channel through which the response will arrive.
After the conversation, note the agent or office, date, time, reference number, and any document requested. Send only the information needed to identify the shipment, and do not discard the original receipt until delivery or a final resolution.
