Revolut is a financial-technology group that offers personal and business money services through an app and related products. It earns income from several activities rather than from one account fee: paid subscriptions, card payments, wealth services, foreign exchange, interest income and business-payment services are all material parts of its model. In its results for the year ended 31 December 2025, Revolut reported £4.5bn ($6.0bn) in group revenue and £1.7bn ($2.3bn) in profit before tax.
The figures are company-reported, and the products, licences and protections available to a customer depend on the country and legal entity providing the service. The published business-line figures are selected primary components, not an additive reconciliation of all group revenue.

What Revolut is
Revolut began as an app-based way to hold and exchange money, but it now describes itself as a broad consumer and business financial platform. Depending on a customer’s residence, its products can include current-account-like services, payment cards, domestic and international transfers, currency exchange, paid personal plans, investing and other wealth products, credit, and business finance tools.
That country qualification is important. A feature shown in one market may be unavailable, provided by a different Revolut entity, or governed by different customer-protection rules elsewhere. Revolut’s annual-report materials describe the group at a high level; they do not mean that every customer receives every product.
#1 Best Overall
The simplest way to understand Revolut’s business is as a multi-product platform. An individual may pay for a subscription, spend with a Revolut card, exchange currencies, hold investments and borrow. A business may use local and international payments, cash-flow tools, treasury products, merchant acquiring and a physical point-of-sale device. Each activity can create a different type of income or deepen the relationship that supports other products.
How Revolut makes money at a glance
Revolut’s latest full-year results, announced on 24 March 2026 for the year ended 31 December 2025, report £4.5bn ($6.0bn) of group revenue, up 46% year over year. Profit before tax was £1.7bn ($2.3bn), up 57%. Revenue is the income generated by the business; profit before tax is what remained after operating costs and other expenses but before corporation tax. They are not interchangeable measures.
The company said 11 product lines each exceeded £100m in annual revenue. Its chief financial officer, Victor Stinga, described the platform as having “11 different product lines” that provide structural resilience. That is Revolut’s own characterization, not an independent assessment. The selected figures below show the main disclosed lines and their reported growth.

| FY2025 line | Reported amount | Year-over-year change | What it represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Subscriptions turnover | £708m ($936m) | Up 67% | Paid personal and other subscription plans; the public results do not provide a complete plan-by-plan fee breakdown. |
| Card Payments | £1.0bn ($1.3bn) | Up 45% | Income associated with card spending; the report does not state a universal per-transaction interchange amount. |
| Wealth | £663m ($876m) | Up 31% | Wealth and investing-related activity; the published summary does not itemize every customer charge or product commission. |
| Foreign exchange (FX) | £606m ($800m) | Up 43% | Currency-exchange activity; the results do not disclose a single standard spread applicable to every customer and currency. |
| Interest income | £974m ($1.3bn) | Up 23% | Interest-related income connected with balances, lending and other financial assets; a group-wide net-interest margin is not supplied. |
| Customer lending portfolio | £2.2bn ($2.9bn) portfolio | Up 120% | A balance-sheet measure, not a revenue total. It consisted primarily of unsecured personal loans and credit cards, plus an early mortgage portfolio. |
Revolut says these are primary revenue components and that they do not sum to total group revenue. They should therefore be used to understand the shape of the business, not to reconstruct a complete income statement by addition. The dollar figures are the company’s illustrative conversions of the pound amounts.
Subscriptions: recurring fees from paid plans
Subscriptions are the most direct part of the model for a personal customer. Revolut offers paid tiers alongside a basic offering in some markets. A customer may pay a recurring fee for a package of enhanced limits, support, travel-related features, insurance or other benefits, subject to the terms and availability in that country.

The reported subscription figure is turnover across the relevant subscription activities. It does not establish that every customer pays, nor does it reveal the price, retention rate or profitability of each tier. A free user can still generate income through card spending, FX, wealth or other services, while a paid subscriber may use several additional products.
Card payments: income linked to spending
When customers use Revolut cards at merchants, the transaction runs through the card-payment system. Revolut reports Card Payments as a £1.0bn FY2025 revenue line. Card economics commonly involve payments from the merchant side of the card network and, depending on the transaction, other service arrangements. However, Revolut’s public results do not give a universal per-swipe interchange figure or a transaction-level margin.
For a customer, this means card spending can be economically important even when the customer is not paying a separate fee at the checkout. The business benefits from activity and scale, while the customer receives the payment service under the terms of the relevant plan and jurisdiction. Cash withdrawals, card-present transactions, online payments and other uses can have different rules, so a single assumed fee should not be applied to every card use.
Wealth services: investing and other assets
Revolut’s Wealth line covers wealth and investing activity. Depending on location, that can include access to investments or other asset-related services inside the app. Revenue may arise from charges or arrangements associated with those services, but the FY2025 summary does not break the line into trading commissions, custody charges, spreads, interest or individual product fees.
Do not read the £663m figure as a return earned by customers, or as a guarantee that every investment product is profitable for Revolut. It is company-reported revenue for the business line. Investment availability, risk disclosures, tax treatment and the legal entity holding an asset all depend on the customer’s market.

Foreign exchange: currency activity at scale
Currency exchange remains a core part of Revolut’s proposition and produced a reported £606m of FY2025 revenue. Customers exchange currencies for travel, transfers, savings or business payments, and the aggregate activity creates an FX income stream for the group.

Pricing can vary by currency pair, time, plan, market conditions, limits and whether an exchange occurs on a weekday or weekend. A customer comparing the service should inspect the live quote, any stated markup and the plan’s allowance at the time of the transaction rather than infer a charge from the group’s annual revenue.
Interest income and lending
Interest income was another major reported line in FY2025. At group level, interest-related income can reflect the return earned on eligible customer balances, loans and other financial assets, less whatever costs and accounting adjustments apply. The public summary does not provide a full bridge showing how much came from deposits, lending, securities or each country.
Revolut also reported a £2.2bn customer lending portfolio, up 120% year over year. It said the portfolio consisted primarily of unsecured personal loans and credit cards, with an early mortgage portfolio. A larger loan book can support future interest income, but the portfolio balance itself is not revenue. Revenue depends on interest charged, balances outstanding, repayment performance, funding costs and accounting treatment.
For customers, borrowing terms must be read separately from the headline group results. Rates, eligibility, credit limits, fees, arrears handling and regulatory disclosures differ by market. The existence of a group lending portfolio does not mean that credit is offered to every Revolut user.

Revolut Business and merchant payments
Revolut Business extends the same multi-engine model to companies. The annual-report description includes local and global payments, cash-flow management, treasury products and merchant acquiring for online and in-person channels. Merchant acquiring means helping a business accept card or other electronic payments and routing the resulting funds.
Business services contributed 16% of total income in 2025, according to Revolut’s results, while business transaction volume reached $365bn (£277bn). Transaction volume is the value moving through the platform, not the amount Revolut keeps as revenue. A high volume can support fees and relationships, but it should never be mistaken for turnover or profit.
Revolut Terminal
The annual report names Revolut Terminal as a physical point-of-sale device connected with Revolut Business accounts. It fits the merchant-acquiring story: a business can use a Revolut-linked device to accept in-person payments while managing related activity in its business account. The published material does not establish universal pricing, country availability, processing rates or marketplace inventory for the device.

The answer depends on the entity and the customer’s location. In the United Kingdom, Revolut Bank UK Ltd received approval to exit mobilisation and launch as a bank in March 2026. Revolut said eligible deposits at that UK bank would be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), with onboarding and transfers of existing customers taking place in phases.

It should not be generalized to all Revolut accounts worldwide. Customers should check the legal entity named in their account documentation, which regulator supervises it, what protection scheme applies and whether a particular balance is an eligible deposit or another type of asset.

What the FY2025 figures can—and cannot—tell you
They show diversification
Subscriptions, card payments, wealth, FX and interest income all exceeded substantial scale, and the company said 11 lines were above £100m. If one activity slows, other activities may still produce income. That is the strategic reason management emphasizes a multi-product platform.
They do not reveal every fee
The results are not a tariff sheet. They do not state a single interchange rate, a universal FX spread, a complete investment commission schedule or a group-wide net-interest margin. Those details are normally found in the applicable customer terms and price pages for a country and product.
They are company-reported totals
The £4.5bn revenue and the line items come from Revolut’s FY2025 results and annual-report materials. They are useful for describing what Revolut says it earned, but they are not an independent product comparison or a regulator’s reconstruction of each fee stream.
How money can move through the platform
Consider a customer who pays for a plan, uses a card abroad, exchanges currency, invests through an available wealth product and later takes a personal loan. Those actions touch several separate revenue engines: the subscription is recurring turnover; card use contributes to Card Payments; the exchange contributes to FX; wealth activity contributes to the Wealth line; and borrowing can generate interest income. The customer does not need to perform every action for Revolut to earn money, and the group does not report one combined fee for the whole relationship.
A small business can create a different mix. It might receive international payments, use cash-flow or treasury tools, accept in-person card payments through merchant acquiring and connect a Terminal device. The value of payments processed is transaction volume; Revolut’s income is the applicable service revenue after the relevant arrangements and costs.
What to check before using a Revolut product
- Legal entity: identify which Revolut company provides the account or product in your country.
- Availability: confirm that the feature, currency, investment, credit product or business service is offered to residents of your market.
- Price mechanics: read the current plan, FX, card, cash-withdrawal, transfer, investment and borrowing terms rather than relying on group averages.
- Protection: check whether your balance is an eligible deposit, which compensation scheme applies and what limits or exclusions exist.
- Credit risk: compare the annual percentage rate, variable-rate provisions, fees and repayment consequences before borrowing.
- Business settlement: businesses should verify acquiring rates, payout timing, chargeback rules, device availability and integration requirements.
Bottom line
Revolut makes money by combining recurring subscriptions with activity-based and balance-based businesses. Card payments, FX and wealth monetize customer usage; interest income is linked to balances and lending; and Revolut Business adds payments, treasury and merchant-acquiring services. The company reported £4.5bn in FY2025 revenue, but its selected line items are not a complete sum and do not disclose every underlying fee. Because banking status, deposit protection and product terms vary by country and entity, the relevant customer agreement—not the group’s headline totals—determines what a particular Revolut user pays and what protection applies.
