The reported promotion gave a flat $100 credit for an accepted smartwatch or smart ring, reducing the then-$399 Galaxy Ring price to $299. That $100 deal was real, but it is historical—not a guaranteed August 2026 price. Samsung’s live checkout now determines the eligible device and credit; a crawled Samsung product page has shown “up to $150,” but that is not a universal quote.
What changed in November 2024
Samsung initially sold the Galaxy Ring without a wearable trade-in option. SamMobile reported on November 14, 2024, that Samsung had added U.S. trade-ins for selected smart rings and smartwatches. Unlike a normal device-by-device valuation, the launch promotion was described as a flat $100 credit when Samsung accepted the submitted wearable. See the original SamMobile report.

Which devices qualified in the original U.S. offer?
Smart rings
The 2024 report listed these smart rings:
- Amazfit Helio
- Evie Ring
- Oura Heritage Gen 1 through Gen 3
- Oura Horizon Gen 1 through Gen 3
- RingConn Smart Ring
- Ultrahuman Ring Air
Smartwatches
SamMobile said the offer covered any Galaxy Watch or Gear model, any Apple Watch, Fitbit watches, Fossil watches and numerous Garmin models. It also used the phrase “any model in any condition.” Do not read that as a promise that every broken, locked, counterfeit, leased or otherwise unusable device will pass Samsung’s inspection. Samsung’s enforceable terms and the current selector control eligibility, and Samsung says models and values can change.
How much was the discount?

A Samsung Galaxy Ring page crawled in 2026 displayed “trade-in value up to $150.” That wording signals a possible current maximum, not what every watch or ring receives. Check the exact amount after selecting your model, size and condition at Samsung’s buying page. The original coverage also said the normally $10 sizing kit could be free in that purchase flow; confirm its current price before ordering.

How Samsung’s direct trade-in works
- Choose the Galaxy Ring on Samsung.com and select your wearable from the trade-in list.
- Review and confirm the instant credit shown for that exact model and condition.
- After ordering, read the trade-in email and follow its deadline. Samsung’s direct instructions generally allow 15 days from the shipping-label email, while another FAQ describes 15 days in relation to receiving the new device; your order-specific email controls.
- Back up data, sign out of Samsung, Google, iCloud and other accounts, remove security locks, and factory-reset the device.
- Pack only the specified device securely, attach Samsung’s prepaid label, and ship it using the approved instructions, normally through UPS. A Samsung.com trade-in must be mailed to Samsung rather than handed to Best Buy or a Samsung Experience Store unless that location processed the order.

What can cause rejection or a chargeback?
- Wrong selection: A similar-looking generation, size or model number can invalidate the quoted credit.
- Condition mismatch: Cracks, liquid damage, missing parts, a dead display or unexpected shutdowns may fail inspection.
- Account lock: Samsung, Google, iCloud or other security locks must be removed.
- Ownership restrictions: Installment devices generally must be paid off; leased hardware is normally ineligible unless purchased first. Blacklisted or improperly owned devices can also fail.
- Late or incorrect shipment: Missing the deadline or sending the wrong device can trigger a credit reversal.
- Unsafe battery: A swollen or dangerous battery may not be returnable.
Under Samsung’s current general terms, a failed inspection can reduce the value to $0 or result in a chargeback. The referenced terms describe a possible chargeback equal to the credit minus $25, but that provision should not automatically be applied to the 2024 Galaxy Ring promotion. Can you get the old wearable back?
If Samsung accepts the device, the trade-in is generally final and the old wearable cannot be returned. If Samsung rejects it, the FAQ says you can generally request its return through the relevant order tools, except where safety rules prevent shipment, such as with a swollen battery. Sending the old device and then returning the Galaxy Ring does not reliably restore the old device or the credit.
Trade in or sell privately?
Use the Samsung credit only after comparing it with realistic net resale proceeds—not an optimistic listing price.

A practical rule is: trade in when the confirmed Samsung credit exceeds your likely net sale proceeds and convenience matters. Otherwise, sell the wearable and apply the cash toward the ring.

Samsung’s general terms say trade-in offers cannot be combined with other Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions unless the specific promotion permits it. Direct Samsung instant credit is also distinct from carrier bill credits, which have separate restrictions and may arrive over multiple billing cycles. Do not assume education, military, referral, app, coupon, Rewards, financing or carrier discounts will stack; verify the final checkout total.

Is the offer available outside the United States?
No broad regional claim is supported by the launch report. The $100 amount and device list were U.S.-specific. Samsung trade-in models, values and rules vary by country, so buyers in Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe or elsewhere must use their local Samsung store.
