Punjab opened applications for the second cohort of its Chief Minister IT Internship Program on April 22, 2026. The PITB-run scheme offered recent graduates five-month, on-site placements with IT companies, a conditional stipend of PKR 50,000 per month, and practical workplace training. The announced candidate-registration deadline was Friday, June 5, 2026.
As of the latest official information available, the second-cohort application window has closed. Readers should not assume that a live portal means a new intake is open; confirm any future deadline through the official CM IT Internship portal or a new PITB notice.

What the CM IT Internship Program offered
The Government of Punjab’s program, managed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), was designed to connect fresh IT graduates with technology companies and help them gain practical experience, mentorship and market-oriented digital skills.

The second cohort offered:
- A standard internship duration of five months, although some promotional material described placements as lasting “up to five months”
- Generally on-site work with participating IT companies across Punjab
- A conditional monthly stipend of PKR 50,000
- Workplace exposure, company supervision and real-world projects
- One internationally recognized online certification through the Global IT Certification Project
The internship was not a permanent government job and the official material did not promise automatic employment after completion.

Who was eligible?
The official portal required applicants to meet all of the following core conditions:
- Hold a valid CNIC showing a permanent Punjab address
- Have Punjab domicile
- Have completed at least 16 years of education
- Have graduated within the previous four years
- Hold a qualification in IT, computer science or a related discipline
- Be unemployed
All genders were encouraged to apply. Final-year students who had not yet completed their degree were not eligible under the published criteria. Applicants who had participated in a government internship during the preceding year were also excluded.
Eligible disciplines
The portal’s list included Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Telecom and Networking, Computer Networking, Communication Systems and Networks, Business Information Technology, Computer and Information Systems, Information Technology Management, Mobile Computing and Information Systems, Multimedia, Multimedia Arts, Animation, Graphic Designing, Information Management, Information Systems and Remote Sensing and GIS.

Applicants needed to compare their exact degree title with the portal’s discipline list and any screening decision.
Documents applicants needed
The registration portal identified these documents:
- A copy of the CNIC
- A recent passport-size photograph
- The most recent academic degree or transcript
Degree documentation was also important after application. PITB stated that stipend payment required an HEC-attested or HEC-verified degree. In practice, uploading an academic document for registration did not remove the separate requirement to verify the qualification for payment processing.

Application and selection process
Submitting a profile did not guarantee an internship. The portal described the process as:
- Profile creation: Enter personal, academic and other requested information on the official portal.
- Aptitude test: Eligible candidates proceed through the program’s assessment stage.
- HEC verification: Academic credentials are checked.
- Company interview: Host IT companies interview candidates.
- Final selection: Matching depends on company requirements, qualifications, skills and candidate preferences.
- International certification: Selected candidates must complete the required online certification.
The host-company interview and matching model means the opportunity was an internship placement rather than a simple first-come, first-served stipend application.
How the PKR 50,000 stipend worked
The advertised PKR 50,000 was a stipend, not a salary, and payment was conditional on attendance, performance and documentation.
Rank #4
The portal’s assessment framework allocated:
- 50% to attendance: Interns needed at least 70% attendance for stipend assessment.
- 40% to supervisor evaluation: The supervisor’s performance assessment had to be submitted electronically.
- 10% to the monthly progress report: Interns were expected to submit progress information.
Interns could take up to two paid leave days per month. Additional absences could result in deductions. Poor performance, insufficient attendance or unresolved degree verification could therefore affect payment.
Certification deadline consequence
Completion of one internationally recognized online certification was mandatory for both:
- Disbursement of the final month’s stipend
- Issuance of the internship completion certificate
A candidate could not safely treat the certification as an optional extra course.

How many places and companies were involved?
PITB promotional notices advertised more than 2,400 internship opportunities and more than 225 participating IT companies. However, the official program portal separately said the scheme would benefit 2,000 graduates. Because these figures differ, they should not be presented as one definitive quota: 2,400-plus was the figure in PITB’s promotional notices, while 2,000 was the portal’s stated overall target.
Examples of advertised domains included software development, Laravel/PHP development, DevOps engineering, product management, 3D animation and graphics, and Salesforce administration. These were examples rather than a confirmed exhaustive list of every available role.
What participating companies received
The host-company model also gave eligible organizations support from the government. The official portal described:
- Government-funded intern stipends paid directly to interns
- An administrative or training-support incentive of PKR 12,500 per intern per month
- Opportunities to mentor and train interns
- The ability to specify their required number of interns
- A potential future hiring pipeline
Participating organizations were required to be registered with PSEB or another relevant authority, maintain a physical office in Punjab and provide a professional working environment. Company duties and the quality of the placement could therefore vary between hosts.
Important cautions for applicants
- Check the date: The second-cohort deadline was June 5, 2026. A social-media post or accessible webpage is not proof that a new intake is open.
- Use only official channels: Apply through cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk and verify announcements on PITB’s website. Do not pay agents claiming they can secure selection.
- Do not confuse two programs: PITB’s CM IT Internship Program is different from Punjab’s general Chief Minister Internship Program, which has had different terms and was administered by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department.
- Expect on-site work: PITB notices described placements as on-site. Do not assume that a future host will offer remote work.
- Verify the degree early: HEC verification or attestation may be necessary for stipend processing even if registration accepts a transcript or degree copy.
- Look for updated rules: A future cohort could change the graduation window, discipline list, quota, certification requirement, attendance rules or participating companies.
Official contact details
The program portal listed the helpline as 042-99000000, with extensions 1207 and 1920. Earlier PITB notices also listed extensions 1925 and 1908. The listed email address was [email protected]. Applicants should confirm that these contacts remain active before relying on them for a future intake.
