On December 2, 2021, Xiaomi executive Lu Weibing reportedly said the POCO X3 Pro ranked first on Amazon’s Black Friday bestseller lists in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. That was a strong promotional result for a value-focused 4G phone, but it was not audited proof that the model was Europe’s best-selling smartphone across all retailers or for the whole year.
Gizchina’s contemporaneous report described the claim as Xiaomi sales data shared shortly after Black Friday 2021.

What “sales king” meant
The phrase referred to first place on Amazon’s Black Friday bestseller rankings in six named markets. It did not establish total smartphone sales in those countries, all-European market leadership, annual unit shipments or the highest revenue.
The available reporting does not state the ranking’s exact time window, whether it covered smartphones or a broader electronics category, how Amazon calculated the position, which competing models were included, or how many units were sold. The most accurate description is: the POCO X3 Pro reportedly topped Amazon’s Black Friday bestseller rankings in six European countries.

Why the phone was attractive in Black Friday 2021
The POCO X3 Pro launched globally in March 2021 with unusually performance-oriented hardware for its price. Its European starting prices were reported as €249 for the base configuration and €299 for the higher configuration. Secondary coverage put some Black Friday offers at about €179 for 6GB/128GB and roughly €200–€220 for 8GB/256GB, although prices varied by country, configuration and seller. Performance-first hardware
The Snapdragon 860 was the central selling point. In 2021 it delivered substantially more performance than many mainstream phones at similar prices, making the device appealing for gaming, multitasking and buyers who prioritized speed over camera quality or premium materials. POCO’s comparisons with the older Snapdragon 732G are manufacturer claims based on internal testing, not independent benchmarks; they appear on the official product page.

Features that reinforced the value proposition

- A 5,160mAh typical-capacity battery and 33W wired charging.
- Stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
- A large discount that made the performance specification especially compelling during a short, high-volume shopping event.
These characteristics likely helped demand, but the available sales claim does not prove that any one feature caused the ranking.

What the ranking did not prove
- It did not show that the POCO X3 Pro was the best-selling phone through November or December 2021.
- It did not cover every European country or every retail channel.
- It did not provide audited units, revenue, market share or shipment data.
- It did not demonstrate simultaneous first-place rankings under a published methodology.
- It did not make the phone a 5G device or a modern flagship.
The trade-offs behind the bargain
4G-only connectivity
The X3 Pro supports 4G LTE, not 5G. That was acceptable for its 2021 price positioning but reduced its long-term network future-proofing.
LCD, size and materials
The 120Hz LCD could feel smooth, but it does not provide the contrast and black levels of an OLED panel. At about 215g and 9.4mm, the phone is also large and heavy. Its plastic rear helped control cost rather than deliver a premium feel.

Cameras and protection
The 48MP main camera was serviceable, while the phone’s strongest argument was processing performance rather than photography. IP53 means limited splash resistance under specified conditions, not waterproofing or safe immersion.

Hybrid expansion and aging software
The hybrid SIM/microSD tray may force a choice between a second SIM and expandable storage. The phone launched with Android 11 and MIUI 12; anyone buying one now should confirm the final update status for the exact region rather than assume current software support.

Does buying one make sense in 2026?
Only in a narrow set of circumstances. The phone should be substantially cheaper than newer alternatives, and the buyer should understand that this is old 2021 hardware with 4G connectivity. Check all of the following before paying:
- Condition: distinguish new old stock, refurbished and used devices.
- Battery: storage age can reduce remaining battery capacity even on an unopened unit.
- Updates: verify official support for the specific regional model.
- Warranty: marketplace or imported stock may have no meaningful local coverage.
- Network: confirm supported bands, VoLTE and carrier approval.
- Price: compare against newer phones with longer support, 5G and more efficient displays.
An Amazon Belgium listing checked for the model was unavailable, so the original product page should not be treated as evidence of normal current retail supply: Amazon listing.
What U.S. buyers need to verify
The reported sales event concerned six European countries and says nothing about U.S. carrier compatibility. The global specification page lists LTE bands including B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B38, B40 and B41, but matching a band does not guarantee activation.

Bottom line on the 2021 “sales king” claim
The POCO X3 Pro had a genuine Black Friday success story: Xiaomi said it reached first place on Amazon bestseller lists in six European markets. Its powerful-for-the-price Snapdragon 860, smooth 120Hz display, large battery and steep discounts made that result plausible. But “sales king” is promotional shorthand for a specific Amazon ranking snapshot—not a verified European smartphone championship.
