Pentiv, the new operating brand of Pineapple Financial Inc., announced an intelligence platform for mortgage agents and brokerages on October 15, 2026. It is designed to sit above existing brokerage and loan-origination infrastructure, unify fragmented data and workflows, and apply AI-assisted tools to recruiting and alternative-mortgage renewals first.
What Pentiv is—and what it is not
Pentiv is being positioned as an intelligence layer, not a replacement for a loan-origination system. Its proposed system of record combines brokerage data, workflows and permissions so leaders and agents can work from connected information instead of separate applications.

The initial roadmap covers two operating problems: finding and recruiting mortgage professionals, and retaining borrowers whose alternative mortgages are approaching renewal. Later applications are planned for onboarding, agent retention, borrower engagement and other stages of the brokerage lifecycle. The announcement does not establish a general release date, pricing, production benchmarks or contracts with outside brokerages.

Recruitment Agent
Recruitment Agent is intended for brokerage leaders. It helps identify mortgage professionals who may be good prospects, prioritize outreach and organize the recruiting workflow. The materials describe workflow assistance rather than autonomous hiring: decisions, relationship-building and final recruiting judgments remain with brokerage personnel.

Alternative Mortgage Renewal Agent
Alternative Mortgage Renewal Agent looks for upcoming or potentially at-risk renewals in the alternative-mortgage book. It can suggest when and how to contact a borrower, help manage required documentation and support the professional’s effort to retain the borrower and mortgage balance. The announcement does not specify the data fields, lender integrations, notification rules or automation limits that will be available to external users.
Why the company is starting with Pineapple
Pineapple Financial is described as Pentiv’s “customer zero”: the live environment in which the products can be developed, tested and measured in real brokerage workflows. This gives Pentiv access to operating data and feedback before external brokerage pilots and broader commercialization.

That arrangement is important context for buyers. A tool operating inside its parent network is not the same as a generally available platform with independent customer references. Pentiv has said it plans to prove the economics inside Pineapple, then extend the platform to outside brokerages. No external pilot timetable or customer agreement was provided in the launch announcement.

Brokerages commonly rely on separate systems for origination, recruiting, documents, contact management and borrower follow-up. Pentiv’s stated value proposition is to connect those workflows while leaving existing origination infrastructure in place.

Why the market matters
Mortgage broker usage is growing in the Canadian figures cited by the launch materials. Mortgage Professionals Canada reported that 38% of recent homebuyers used a mortgage broker in 2026, six percentage points higher than in 2024. Among recent first-time buyers, usage reached 48%, up ten percentage points from 2024.
The Ontario channel alone handled more than 270,000 mortgages representing over C$158 billion in volume in 2024, according to the announcement, across more than 1,100 independent brokerages. Those figures indicate a large distribution network, but they do not measure Pentiv’s revenue opportunity or prove that its software improves conversion, renewal rates or agent retention.

Leadership’s stated approach to AI
Usman Maher was appointed chief financial officer and chief strategy officer. The launch release attributes to Maher a view that mortgage AI should not automate professionals out of the process, because human judgment, trust and relationships remain essential. He said Pentiv aims to help brokerages compete with large technology platforms while strengthening the professionals at the center of the mortgage process.

She described Pineapple as the test and validation environment and Pentiv as the vehicle for scaling that intelligence beyond the network.

Corporate and ticker details to watch
The corporate renaming to Pentiv Inc. was still subject to shareholder approval when the launch was announced. The company said its common shares would continue trading under PAPL, with a ticker change to PTIV expected around October 26, 2026. Both points are forward-looking and can change; investors should verify the company’s subsequent filings and exchange notices rather than treating the expected date as completed.
What brokerages should verify before evaluating it
- Which loan-origination, CRM, document and accounting systems connect natively, and whether integrations are read-only or write-enabled.
- How borrower consent, role-based access, audit logs and retention policies are handled.
- Whether agents approve every outreach and document action or whether any step can run automatically.
- Measured results from Pineapple and any external pilots, including the period, baseline and number of users.
- Implementation effort, per-user or per-volume pricing, service levels and data-export terms.
Until those details are published, Pentiv is best understood as an announced platform moving from an internal proof environment toward outside brokerage pilots—not as a broadly available replacement for mortgage-origination software.
