Important date note: The Apple promotions covered here were reported by Laptop Mag on May 25, 2025, with an update shown on May 28, 2025. They should be treated as historical deals, not live August 2026 offers. The original article advertised savings of up to $500 across MacBooks and accessories, but its “17 deals” count does not cleanly match the entries shown. Several prices, configurations and discounts also require qualification.
For current buying decisions, Apple’s US store now lists the MacBook Neo from $699, MacBook Air from $1,299 and MacBook Pro from $1,999, with current Air models using the M5 chip. See Apple’s current Mac lineup before purchasing.

Quick verdict
- Best historical value: The 13-inch M4 MacBook Air at Amazon for a reported $849 after an on-page coupon, assuming the configuration included adequate memory and the coupon applied at checkout.
- Best large-screen option: The 15-inch MacBook Air, but only when its discount meaningfully narrows the gap with a newer-generation model.
- Best for demanding creative work: An M4 Pro or M4 Max MacBook Pro, provided you genuinely need sustained performance, more memory, ports or the Pro display.
- Best accessory approach: Buy discounted AirPods or an AirTag only if you already need them. A small discount on a Magic Mouse or keyboard is not automatically good value.
- Best current alternative: Compare an M5 MacBook Air with Apple Certified Refurbished M4 stock. Apple says its refurbished products include a one-year limited warranty and a 14-day return policy.
The original deals were published for Memorial Day 2025. A discount on an older M1, M2, M3 or M4 model may still be attractive, but the percentage saving alone is not enough: memory, storage, support life, seller, condition and return rights matter more.

What the original list included
Laptop Mag described the promotion as 17 Apple deals from Amazon, Best Buy, B&H and Walmart, with savings of up to $500. However, the article appears to contain six Air entries, six Pro entries and seven accessory or price-reference entries. Some accessories were listed at ordinary prices rather than as confirmed discounts. That means the advertised total should not be repeated as a precise count of verified bargains.

MacBook Air entries
| Reported product | Retailer | Reported offer | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13-inch M4 MacBook Air | Amazon | $849, with a $150 discount after an on-page coupon | Potentially the strongest Air deal, but the coupon had to be applied at checkout. |
| 15-inch M4 MacBook Air | Amazon | $150 off | Worth considering for buyers who want a larger screen. |
| 13-inch M3 MacBook Air | B&H | $250 off | Cheaper alternative, but compare its memory and storage with newer models. |
| 15-inch M3 MacBook Air | B&H | $300 off | Potentially attractive for large-screen buyers if the configuration was not cut down. |
| 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, 512GB | Best Buy | $100 off | Check that it is actually an Air; one passage in the source incorrectly referred to it as an M2 MacBook Pro. |
| 2020 M1 MacBook Air | B&H | $300 off | Old hardware. The M1 Air was released in 2020, not late 2022, and needs a substantial discount to justify its shorter remaining support horizon. |
MacBook Pro entries
| Reported product | Retailer | Reported offer | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, 16GB/512GB | Amazon | $200 off | A capable general-purpose Pro, but an Air may be better value for ordinary work. |
| 14-inch M3 Pro MacBook Pro | Best Buy | $300 off | More suitable for sustained workloads than an entry-level Pro. |
| 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro, 16GB/1TB | Amazon | $200 off | The extra storage can be useful, but compare the final price with current-generation models. |
| 16-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro | Unclear in the source | Approximately $270–$284 off | The article gives inconsistent discount figures, so the exact saving should not be treated as settled. |
| M4 Max MacBook Pro | Unclear in the source | $320 off | A discount does not make a Max chip economical for email, browsing or schoolwork. |
| 16-inch M4 Max MacBook Pro | Unclear in the source | $350 off | Best reserved for workloads that can use sustained GPU and CPU performance. |
Accessories and price references
| Product | Reported information | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Magic Mouse | $11 off at Amazon | Evaluate its ergonomics and charging arrangement before focusing on the discount. |
| Magic Keyboard | Approximately $99 | This was not clearly presented as a discount. Check whether the model includes Touch ID and whether the layout fits your region. |
| Logitech Pop Icon Combo | Lower-cost keyboard and mouse alternative | Compare Mac key labels, multi-device switching, software and key feel. |
| AirPods 4 | Approximately $129 | A comparison price is not necessarily a sale price. |
| AirPods 4 with ANC | $30 off | Worth paying extra for only if active noise cancellation is important. |
| AirPods Max with USB-C | $70 off | Still heavy and expensive; in-ear AirPods may be more practical for travel. |
| AirTag | $4 off at Amazon | Useful for locating bags and equipment, but not a live GPS tracker. |
How to judge a MacBook discount
Do not compare unlike configurations
A discounted 8GB/256GB MacBook is not equivalent to a newer 16GB/512GB model. Memory affects multitasking and development workloads, while 256GB storage can become restrictive for photo libraries, video projects and large applications. Identify the exact memory and storage configuration before calculating the saving.
Also distinguish an automatic markdown from a coupon. A coupon may be account-specific, time-limited or inventory-limited, and the advertised price may not appear until the final checkout screen.

Choose the Air for most everyday work
For browsing, office applications, schoolwork, coding at moderate scale and ordinary photo editing, a MacBook Air is generally the more sensible value than a MacBook Pro. Choose the 13-inch version for portability and the 15-inch version when a larger workspace matters more than weight and price.

Older M2 or M3 Air models can make sense at a genuine clearance price, but the gap between an older discounted model and a current M5 Air should be small enough to justify the older chip, potentially shorter support horizon and less favorable configuration.
Rank #3
- BUILT FOR COLLEGE. AND BEYOND — MacBook Air with the M5 chip packs blazing speed and powerful AI capabilities into an incredibly portable design. And with up to 18 hours of battery life,* this thin and light powerhouse is ready to take on almost any major, just about anywhere.
- TEAR THROUGH TOUGH ASSIGNMENTS — With its faster CPU and unified memory, the M5 chip delivers even more performance and fluidity across apps, making multitasking and creative workflows smooth and responsive. A powerful Neural Engine and next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerators give you a powerful platform for AI.
- MAKE QUICK WORK OF YOUR TO-DO LIST — Apple Intelligence helps you write, express yourself, and get things done effortlessly — whether it’s for school or everyday life. With groundbreaking privacy protections, it gives you peace of mind that no one else can access your data — not even Apple.*
- UP TO 18 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE — MacBook Air delivers incredible battery life with amazing performance, so you can power through a full day of classes without worrying about plugging in.
- A BRILLIANT 13.6-INCH DISPLAY* — The gorgeous Liquid Retina display on MacBook Air supports 1 billion colors, making photos and videos pop with rich contrast and sharp detail, and text appears supercrisp. So everything — from class presentations to movies to games — looks truly stunning.
Pay for a Pro only for a Pro workload
MacBook Pro models are easier to justify when you regularly edit demanding video, compile large projects, render 3D scenes, run virtual machines or need sustained performance, a brighter or more advanced display, additional ports, or higher memory and storage ceilings.
For creators and developers, compare M5 Pro and M5 Max configurations rather than choosing whichever older model has the biggest percentage discount. The 16-inch Pro provides more screen area and sustained performance potential, but it is substantially less portable and more expensive. Apple’s current pages list 14-inch Pro options with M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max, while 16-inch models use M5 Pro or M5 Max.

- SUPERCHARGED BY M5 — The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 brings next-generation speed and powerful on-device AI to personal, professional, and creative tasks. Featuring all-day battery life and a breathtaking Liquid Retina XDR display with up to 1600 nits peak brightness, it’s pro in every way.*
- HAPPILY EVER FASTER — Along with its faster CPU and unified memory, M5 features a more powerful GPU with a Neural Accelerator built into each core, delivering faster AI performance. So you can blaze through demanding workloads at mind-bending speeds.
- BUILT FOR APPLE INTELLIGENCE — Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that helps you write, express yourself, and get things done effortlessly. With groundbreaking privacy protections, it gives you peace of mind that no one else can access your data — not even Apple.*
- ALL-DAY BATTERY LIFE — MacBook Pro delivers the same exceptional performance whether it’s running on battery or plugged in.
- APPS FLY WITH APPLE SILICON — All your favorites, including Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud, run lightning fast in macOS.*
Current alternatives in 2026
The 2025 Memorial Day prices are historical. Apple’s current US buying page lists the MacBook Neo from $699, MacBook Air from $1,299 and MacBook Pro from $1,999. Apple’s current Air pages show 13-inch and 15-inch M5 configurations with 16GB or 24GB memory options visible in the listed configurations.

The store has shown previous-generation M4 MacBook Air units, including a 15-inch model at $929 against a former $1,099 price. Inventory changes, so a specific configuration may disappear quickly. Eligible students and educators should also compare Apple Education pricing, but it is not available to every shopper. Financing and trade-in offers can reduce the upfront cost without making an unnecessarily powerful configuration good value.
Retailer and warranty checklist
- Confirm the exact model: Check chip, screen size, memory, storage and model identifier.
- Check condition: “New,” open-box, refurbished and clearance products are not interchangeable.
- Identify the seller: Marketplace listings may have different warranty and return terms from the retailer itself.
- Verify the final price: Apply coupons, membership discounts and required account offers before judging the deal.
- Read the return policy: Note the return window, restocking rules and whether the item must be returned to a marketplace seller.
- Check Apple warranty eligibility: Keep the invoice and confirm that the serial number and purchase channel support the expected warranty coverage.
- Compare recent street prices: A “was” price may be an earlier MSRP rather than the product’s normal recent selling price.
Deals to skip
- An M1 or other old MacBook whose price is only modestly below a newer model.
- An 8GB configuration priced close to a newer 16GB model.
- A 256GB laptop when your work requires local photo, video or development files.
- A marketplace listing with unclear condition, seller identity or warranty.
- A Pro or Max chip purchased for basic browsing and office work.
- A Magic Mouse bought solely because it is a few dollars cheaper, if its ergonomics do not suit you.
- AirPods Max when your priority is lightweight travel.
Bottom line
The Memorial Day 2025 Apple list was real, but it is no longer a live deal guide and its advertised 17-item count mixes genuine discounts with ordinary prices and inconsistent entries. The strongest historical candidates were the discounted M4 MacBook Air configurations and selected M4 Pro models for demanding users. In 2026, compare any remaining clearance stock with Apple’s M5 Air and Pro lineup and Certified Refurbished inventory. Buy based on the complete configuration and seller terms—not the headline discount.
