Maxar Technologies did not simply become one new company. Its two principal businesses took separate identities: Vantor focuses on satellite imagery, geospatial data, AI and spatial intelligence, while Lanteris focuses on spacecraft design, manufacturing and space infrastructure.
The rebrand took legal effect on October 1, 2025. It is strategically important because the businesses serve different customers and have different economics—but new names alone do not prove new capabilities, higher growth or better returns for investors.

What happened to Maxar?
The naming map is:

According to filed financial statements, Maxar Technologies Inc. was renamed Vantor Inc. and Maxar Space Systems was renamed Lanteris Space Holdings LLC on October 1, 2025.

Why separate the businesses?
Vantor sells information and decision-support capabilities. Its buyers may need imagery, analytics, mapping, monitoring or mission software. Lanteris sells expensive, long-cycle spacecraft programs and engineering services. Its customers include governments, defense contractors, satellite operators and commercial space companies.
Those models require different capital allocation, sales strategies and performance measures. Separating the brands can make procurement clearer and allow each company to position itself against more relevant competitors. It may also give the owners greater flexibility to pursue different financing, acquisition or exit strategies.
However, a corporate split does not automatically mean that every contract, facility, employee, platform or technology changed overnight. Customers may continue to encounter Maxar references in legacy contracts, archives, technical documentation and procurement systems.
Vantor’s strategy: from imagery to spatial intelligence
Vantor describes its strategy as an evolution from a satellite-imagery and foundational-content provider into an end-to-end spatial-intelligence company.
Operationally, “spatial intelligence” means combining:
- Satellite, drone and ground-sensor data.
- Geospatial databases, imagery and three-dimensional representations.
- Data fusion and geospatial computing.
- AI-assisted interpretation and change detection.
- Mission workflows, alerts and decision support.
- Potentially, autonomous systems that act on the resulting information.
The value proposition is not merely a sharper image. It is a continuously updated picture of a location or operating environment, connected to tools that help a customer detect change, assess risk and respond.
Tensorglobe
Vantor’s Tensorglobe is the central platform-level expression of that strategy. Vantor presents it as a way to combine multiple sensor types with a spatial foundation and automate more of the intelligence cycle, from tasking and data production through analysis.

That ambition raises practical questions for prospective customers:
- Can customers bring their own drone, vehicle or ground-sensor data?
- Which APIs, cloud environments, standards and export formats are supported?
- How much of the workflow is automated, and how much requires analyst review?
- Are data provenance, uncertainty and model confidence exposed?
- Is access broadly commercial, or primarily available through enterprise and government contracts?
The supplied material does not establish public pricing, universal availability or standard performance levels. Vantor’s enterprise, government and mission-solution offerings appear to require a sales process rather than ordinary online checkout.
Raptor and Sentry
Vantor identifies Raptor as a GPS-resilience solution and Sentry as a persistent-monitoring product. These should be understood as mission solutions, not consumer mapping apps. Their technical specifications, deployment models, security restrictions, availability and pricing require confirmation from Vantor.
WorldView Legion
Vantor says it successfully launched six next-generation WorldView Legion satellites. The constellation matters because any spatial-intelligence platform depends on collection capacity, resolution, revisit rate, tasking priority, processing and delivery infrastructure.
The six-satellite figure should be treated as a Vantor-stated operating detail. It does not, by itself, establish that every location receives uniform coverage or near-real-time information. Optical collection can still be affected by cloud cover, tasking demand, orbital geometry, processing time and customer licensing.
Lanteris: the spacecraft and infrastructure business
Lanteris’s filed business description covers mission-systems engineering, product design, spacecraft manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing. Its stated markets include communications, Earth observation, exploration and on-orbit servicing and assembly.
The company’s rebrand materials also emphasize defense and national-security work, including missile tracking, secure communications, resilient constellations, connectivity and deep-space exploration.

Lanteris platforms
- Lanteris 1300: a large geostationary-orbit spacecraft platform.
- Lanteris 500: associated with the WorldView Legion class.
- Lanteris 300: a smaller bus associated with low-Earth-orbit and defense-oriented constellation work.
These names do not necessarily represent newly designed spacecraft. The underlying platforms retain their engineering heritage, customer programs and mission history. A buyer should evaluate payload accommodation, power, propulsion, pointing, qualification, production capacity and on-orbit performance—not just the brand name.

Management also told Via Satellite that the business mix had shifted to approximately 50% government and 50% commercial at the time of the interview. That mix is management commentary, not an independently audited segment disclosure.
What is the relationship between Vantor and Lanteris?
At the time of the October 2025 rebrand, the businesses were separate operating companies under common ownership. The cited Lanteris filing describes Lanteris as a wholly owned subsidiary of Vantor Inc. and identifies Galileo Topco as the ultimate parent.
There is an important later development: Intuitive Machines announced an agreement to acquire Lanteris on November 4, 2025. The supplied evidence establishes the announced agreement but does not establish the final closing date, closing conditions or post-closing ownership as of August 18, 2026. Readers should check the latest Intuitive Machines filing before assuming that Vantor and Lanteris still share ownership.
This matters because a completed acquisition could change Lanteris’s capital access, product portfolio, customer channels, integration priorities and relationship with Vantor.
Does the rebrand change the products?
The best answer is both continuity and change.
What is mostly continuous
- Lanteris spacecraft platforms retain their Maxar-era engineering heritage.
- Existing contracts and customer programs generally do not become new technical systems simply because the logo changes.
- Vantor retains the imagery assets, satellite constellation and operational expertise developed under Maxar Intelligence.
- Legacy names may remain in contracts, APIs, archives and customer records during the transition.
What is more substantive
- Vantor is packaging data, software, analytics and sensor fusion as an integrated platform.
- It is targeting autonomous operations and multi-domain intelligence rather than imagery delivery alone.
- Lanteris is marketing itself as a broader defense, infrastructure, connectivity and exploration provider.
- The separate brands support different sales and procurement conversations.
The meaningful test will be observable execution: new platform deployments, paying customers, recurring software revenue, sensor integrations, measurable latency and accuracy, spacecraft awards, production throughput and on-time delivery.
What this means for customers
For Vantor buyers
Customers should evaluate resolution, spectral characteristics, revisit rate, tasking urgency, archive coverage, optical versus radar data, analyst support, API access, cloud and security requirements, licensing rights and the ability to ingest outside data.

A unified platform may reduce integration work but increase dependence on one vendor. AI can accelerate analysis but can also produce false positives, bias and difficult-to-explain conclusions. A digital twin should not be assumed to be complete, uniformly accurate or continuously current everywhere.
Customers should also verify whether existing credentials, entitlements, contracts and redistribution rights migrate automatically after the rebrand. They should not assume that “near real-time” means a guaranteed latency without a contractual definition.

Spacecraft customers should assess mission orbit, payload mass, power, propulsion, communications, production cadence, supply-chain resilience, cybersecurity, launch integration, post-launch support and the platform’s demonstrated heritage.
Heritage can reduce technical risk but may offer less flexibility than a purpose-built design. Large GEO platforms provide power and payload capacity but typically involve longer schedules and greater program cost. Smaller standardized buses may support faster constellation production while imposing payload, thermal and power limits.
During an ownership transition, customers should confirm contract assignment, warranties, support obligations, export controls, procurement eligibility and the identity of the legal counterparty.

Vantor’s opportunity
Vantor is positioned to benefit if defense and intelligence customers need faster access to multi-source data, GPS-resilient navigation, persistent monitoring and autonomous-system support. Commercial opportunities could include infrastructure monitoring, mapping, disaster response and large-scale change detection.

The risk is that “spatial intelligence” remains a positioning exercise unless Vantor can show repeatable software adoption beyond bespoke government work. Key indicators include platform contracts, recurring revenue, customer retention, independent sensor integrations, measured performance and expansion beyond a narrow set of government buyers.

Lanteris’s opportunity
Lanteris is targeting demand for missile tracking, proliferated low-Earth-orbit constellations, secure communications, commercial connectivity, exploration and on-orbit services. Its existing spacecraft heritage may help it compete for programs where reliability and qualification matter.
The risks include government-budget cycles, long procurement periods, manufacturing delays, component shortages, capital intensity and acquisition integration. A reported $35 million impairment related to previously recognized trade names was an accounting consequence of the rebrand; it should not be interpreted by itself as evidence of operating deterioration.
What investors should watch
- Whether Vantor converts Tensorglobe and related tools into repeatable, recurring software or platform revenue.
- Whether Vantor publishes or contractually defines latency, accuracy, coverage and data-licensing terms.
- Whether the WorldView Legion constellation delivers the expected collection capacity and customer service levels.
- Whether Lanteris increases spacecraft production without sacrificing schedule or quality.
- New awards for defense, communications, Earth observation and exploration missions.
- The final status and terms of the announced Intuitive Machines transaction.
- Customer retention, contract novation and workforce or facility changes after any ownership transition.
- Evidence that separate brands produce better growth, margins or strategic focus than the combined Maxar identity.
Alternatives for imagery buyers
For buyers seeking documented commercial imagery and API workflows, Airbus OneAtlas describes archive imagery, tasking, basemaps, radar, elevation products and streaming access. Its documentation lists subscription tiers of 50,000, 200,000, 500,000 and 1.5 million tiles per month, but the cited pages do not display monetary prices.

Neither model is automatically better; the right choice depends on coverage, licensing, security, API requirements, latency and the need for specialized defense workflows.
The bottom line
The Maxar rebrand is best understood as a strategic unbundling. Vantor sells intelligence derived from spatial data; Lanteris builds the spacecraft and infrastructure that enable space missions.
The names matter because they clarify markets, customers and strategy. But the future value of the separation depends on execution: Vantor must turn imagery and sensor data into dependable, repeatable software products, while Lanteris must convert spacecraft heritage into faster, flexible and financially sustainable production. The announced Intuitive Machines transaction adds another major variable, and its final ownership implications should be confirmed from current filings before drawing firm conclusions.
