Highspot announced a $248 million Series F financing on January 13, 2022, at a $3.5 billion post-money valuation. The round was led by B Capital Group and D1 Capital Partners, with participation from ICONIQ Growth, Madrona Venture Group, Salesforce Ventures, Sapphire Ventures, and Tiger Global Management. Highspot said the financing brought its total funding to $648 million and would fund product development, international expansion, and hiring.
The deal was a historical financing event—not a current funding announcement. It also illustrated why investors were willing to assign high valuations to enterprise-software companies that helped sales teams work digitally during the pandemic-era software boom.

What Highspot does
Highspot sells sales-enablement software. In practical terms, the platform is intended to help a revenue organization make sure that sellers have the right information, know how to use it, and can show relevant material to prospective buyers.
#1 Best Overall
For example, a representative preparing for a complex customer meeting might use an enablement platform to:
- Find the latest approved presentation, case study, product document, or competitive battlecard.
- Follow a sales play with recommended steps, messaging, and supporting content.
- Review training or practice a pitch.
- Share selected materials with a prospective customer in a digital sales room or other buyer-facing experience.
- Give marketing and sales leaders data about which content sellers use and which materials buyers engage with.
That is broader than simply storing files. A shared drive can hold a presentation, but it generally does not provide the same combination of content governance, guided selling, training, coaching, buyer engagement, and performance analytics.
Highspot’s current product positioning has expanded into a broader go-to-market platform covering content, training, coaching, analytics, buyer engagement, integrations, and AI. Those current capabilities should not be assumed to describe exactly what the product offered when the Series F was announced.
Why digital selling increased demand
Enterprise sales traditionally relied heavily on offices, conferences, in-person presentations, and informal collaboration between sellers and managers. The pandemic shifted many of those interactions to Zoom and other digital channels.
Rank #2
That created several operational problems:
- Representatives had less access to colleagues and in-person coaching.
- Buyers received more digital material and had more control over when and how they consumed it.
- Marketing teams needed to keep messaging consistent across a distributed sales force.
- Managers had less visibility into whether training changed seller behavior.
- Global companies needed stronger controls over regional, product, partner, and compliance-related content.
Highspot argued that this was not merely a temporary change. CEO Robert Wahbe described digital work and selling as a relatively permanent shift, creating demand for tools that could help salespeople conduct effective buyer conversations outside a traditional conference room. That was management’s thesis, however—not independent proof that every remote-selling trend would persist at the same pace.
The growth evidence—and what it does not prove
Highspot reported that platform usage rose 150% year over year and that the platform connected more than eight million salespeople, channel partners, services representatives, and customers in digital sales experiences during the cited year. The company also said its workforce had grown from roughly 400 employees two years earlier to more than 800.
These figures came from the company’s financing announcement. The eight-million figure describes participants connected through digital sales experiences; it should not automatically be interpreted as eight million paying individual users.
There was also limited public financial detail available to independently evaluate the valuation. GeekWire reported that Highspot did not provide specific revenue figures for the preceding year. A CB Insights report later attributed 935% revenue growth from 2019 to 2022 and annual recurring-revenue retention above 130% to Highspot’s performance, but those are secondary-source figures—not audited financial statements presented in the funding announcement.
Rank #3
Similarly, a large funding round and a rising valuation do not establish profitability, positive cash flow, durable market share, or a particular revenue multiple. Private-company valuations are negotiated investment prices, not public-market appraisals with fully disclosed assumptions.
Why a $3.5 billion valuation was plausible in early 2022
Highspot had announced a $200 million financing in February 2021. Contemporaneous reporting said the company’s valuation had increased approximately fourfold over about two years. That rapid repricing occurred during a period when investors placed unusually high values on fast-growing enterprise-software companies.
Highspot’s business appeared to sit at the intersection of several attractive software themes:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Cloud software: Enterprises were moving more workflows into subscription-based platforms.
- Sales productivity: Companies wanted to help distributed sellers do more with less administrative work.
- Marketing and sales alignment: Businesses wanted to know whether marketing content actually helped sellers and buyers.
- Analytics: Revenue leaders sought more evidence about content usage, seller readiness, and buyer engagement.
- Digital buyer experiences: Sales processes increasingly depended on shared online content rather than physical meetings.
GeekWire cited a contemporaneous Verified Market Research forecast estimating that the global sales-enablement-platform market could grow from $1.7 billion in 2020 to $7.3 billion by 2028. That was a period forecast, not a verified current market-size figure, and forecasts should not be confused with realized demand.

Who used or bought Highspot?
Customers cited by Highspot or reported in coverage at the time included DocuSign, Workday, Siemens, Adobe, Aetna, IBM’s Red Hat unit, Verizon Media, Nestlé, and General Motors. The list was not presented as a complete customer roster, and customer relationships can change over time.
The customer examples help explain the target market: large organizations with multiple products, regions, sales channels, and content owners. In those environments, the cost of a stale product claim, inconsistent pitch, or inaccessible document can be meaningful—but so can the cost and complexity of implementing another enterprise system.
Highspot’s competitive position
Contemporaneous coverage identified Seismic and Showpad as major competitors. Broader comparison points include:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Seismic: Enterprise enablement, content operations, workflows, analytics, and revenue productivity.
- Showpad: Seller-facing enablement and buyer-engagement workflows.
- Mindtickle: Sales readiness, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Bigtincan: Sales content, enablement, mobile access, and AI-oriented productivity workflows.
- CRM-native tools: Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics 365 may cover portions of content access, workflow, analytics, or AI without a dedicated enablement platform.
There is no basis here for declaring one vendor the universal winner. The products overlap, but their strongest use cases can differ. A company focused on rep readiness may prioritize training and coaching, while one struggling with content governance may prioritize search, approvals, personalization, and buyer sharing.

What companies should investigate before buying
Highspot’s current pricing page does not publish a fixed per-user price. It says pricing depends on capabilities, licenses, team size, and organizational complexity. Its current package groupings are “Equip and engage,” “Train and practice,” and “Coach and reinforce.” That quote-based, needs-based model is a signal that the product is aimed primarily at larger or more complex revenue organizations rather than casual self-serve users.
A dedicated platform is more likely to fit when:
- The sales organization is large, distributed, or spread across regions.
- There are many products, buyer segments, partners, or regulated-content requirements.
- Formal onboarding, training, practice, and coaching programs already exist—or leadership is prepared to create them.
- Marketing, sales, customer success, and partner teams need a common enablement system.
- The company can define adoption and revenue-impact metrics.
- Existing CRM and sales tools do not adequately manage content, readiness, or sales plays.
It may be a poor fit when:
- A small team only needs a shared folder, wiki, or lightweight content library.
- No one owns content governance or enablement operations.
- The sales process changes too quickly to codify into useful plays.
- CRM data is incomplete or unreliable.
- The organization is unwilling to invest in implementation, training, and change management.
- An existing CRM or learning system already solves the core problem.
Common failure modes
- Content graveyard: The business creates a better repository but sellers still use email, old decks, or personal workarounds.
- Low adoption: Executives buy the platform without making it part of everyday sales workflows.
- Weak measurement: Teams track logins and downloads but cannot connect usage to pipeline, win rates, or deal velocity.
- Stale content: Pricing, product claims, competitive information, or compliance language becomes outdated.
- Playbook overload: Too many prescribed steps make the system harder to use during live deals.
- Implementation failure: The rollout lacks taxonomy, ownership, integrations, training, or executive sponsorship.
- Attribution overreach: A post-deployment improvement may reflect hiring, pricing, product changes, or market conditions—not the software alone.
- Vendor concentration: A broad platform can become strategically important and expensive to replace.
Buyers evaluating current AI features should also ask what data powers recommendations, how permissions are enforced, whether administrators can correct generated content, how stale material is removed, and which AI capabilities are included in the contract. Highspot now markets AI search, agents, recommendations, training assistance, meeting intelligence, and next-best-action capabilities, but that later product evolution should not be used as an explanation for why the 2022 financing occurred.
The broader lesson for investors and operators
Highspot’s Series F reflected investor belief that sales execution could become a major software category. The opportunity was larger than helping representatives find documents: it was to create a connective layer between CRM systems, marketing content, training, sales engagement, conversation intelligence, buyer experiences, and revenue analytics.
The harder question was—and remains—whether enablement software can measurably change seller behavior and business outcomes. A high valuation can reflect confidence in that future opportunity, but it does not remove the practical requirements of adoption, clean data, content governance, and credible measurement.
