For multilingual international campaigns, Microsoft Advertising is the clearest documented option if you want to extend paid search and import supported campaign structures from Google Ads. LinkedIn Ads is a more specialized fit when reaching professional audiences by profile language matters. Neither is a universal replacement: compare the markets, audiences and localization work your campaign actually needs—and note that Google itself has introduced changes and a localization beta that may meet some needs without a switch.
Which alternative fits your multilingual campaign?
Start with the audience and the job you need the platform to do. Search advertising and professional-network targeting reach people in different contexts; the available documentation does not establish comparable audience reach or campaign performance between these platforms.

| Microsoft Advertising | Testing additional search reach or reusing supported campaign structures | Microsoft says advertisers can import campaigns from Google Ads, Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads. Its product overview also describes search and audience advertising, conversion goals and remarketing audiences. | Import is a setup aid, not proof every setting or localized asset transfers unchanged. Availability varies by feature and market. |
| LinkedIn Ads | Qualified B2B campaigns where professional audience criteria are valuable | Ad sets can target by profile language as well as other audience criteria; LinkedIn documents 35 selectable profile languages. | Language selection controls audience matching, not translation. It is not a substitute for search-intent capture. |
| Google Ads with localization tools | Advertisers who want to retain Google campaigns while adapting eligible Search campaigns | Google documents an AI campaign localisation beta for eligible Search campaigns, alongside its updated Search language-matching approach. | The beta has eligibility and language limits; its translated assets and targeting still need review. |
For any route, confirm that the target country, language, campaign type and targeting feature are supported together. Compare how each option handles campaign reuse, conversion measurement, reporting, bidding and multi-account operations against your team’s workflow.

Microsoft’s product overview says its import tools accept campaigns from Google Ads, Meta Ads and Pinterest Ads. It also describes search and audience advertising, Universal Event Tracking for conversion goals, and remarketing audiences. Those details make Microsoft worth evaluating when you want another search channel or want to avoid rebuilding every supported campaign object from scratch. They do not establish equivalent traffic volume or performance in every country.
#1 Best Overall
Microsoft’s feature comparison lists campaign and account functions alongside market availability. Treat its availability column as a practical check, and remember it is Microsoft’s own comparison rather than independent testing. The document also describes LinkedIn profile targeting within Microsoft Advertising, including industry, company and job-function dimensions, with market limits.
Review an import before launch
Do not assume an imported campaign is ready for a new country or language. Check what arrived, then review the parts that affect local fit and cost:
Rank #2
- Keywords and search intent in the target market
- Locations, language settings and campaign eligibility
- Ad copy, localized assets and landing pages
- Conversion tracking, including Universal Event Tracking where applicable
- Budgets and bids in the account’s intended currency
Microsoft’s cited materials establish an import path, not that every setting or localized asset transfers unchanged. Validate the resulting campaign in the account before enabling it.
LinkedIn Ads: language is an audience filter, not a translation tool
LinkedIn says advertisers can choose from 35 profile languages for ad sets. Language targeting combines with the other audience criteria, so its meaning depends on the language selected and the ad format.
Rank #3
- English selection: For most ad sets, it reaches member accounts in the selected location regardless of profile language. Sponsored Messaging is an exception.
- Non-English selection: Members must match that language as well as the other audience criteria.
- Sponsored Messaging: LinkedIn says any selected language is matched against the audience.
- Chinese: LinkedIn says Chinese is not supported for ad sets.
LinkedIn recommends matching the ad and landing-page language. After an ad set is created and launched, its language cannot be changed; use a new ad set to target a different language. If a narrow audience becomes too small, LinkedIn suggests relaxing other criteria or running a separate English ad set in that geography.
This makes LinkedIn a focused option for B2B advertisers who value professional targeting. It does not translate ad creative or landing pages, and the cited guidance does not establish that it captures the same intent as a search campaign.
What changed in Google Ads language targeting in September 2026?
Google’s language-targeting help says that, beginning in September 2026, Search campaigns match ads based on ad language and campaign-level language targeting is removed for Search. For Performance Max, campaign language settings no longer apply to Search Network placements, but continue to apply to YouTube, Display, Discover and Gmail. Google says Shopping ads within Performance Max are unaffected by language settings.

Google’s AI campaign localisation beta: what it does and does not do
Google documents an AI campaign localisation beta for eligible Search campaigns. The source campaign must be in English (US). The listed target-language variants are Dutch; French and French (Canada); German; Italian; Polish; Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal/European); and Spanish (Spain/Castilian) and Spanish (Latin America and the Caribbean).
The tool can translate text assets and targeting, process text overlays in images, and provide a landing-page translation snippet or URL-updating workflow. It creates a separate, independent campaign and leaves the original unchanged. These are documented capabilities, not evidence that translations are accurate, culturally appropriate or effective; review them with knowledge of the target market.
Check eligibility and budget handling
Google describes limits on source-campaign status, size and supported-language assets. The tool is a beta, so its documentation does not guarantee availability to every account.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Google says copied budgets and bids retain their original numeric values; the tool does not convert currency. If a campaign’s amount is copied into a localized campaign intended to use another currency, review the numbers and set an appropriate budget and bid before launch.
A practical way to choose
- Define the audience. If your priority is search demand, evaluate Microsoft alongside Google. If professional audience criteria are central to a B2B campaign, assess LinkedIn’s targeting.
- Check the market-language combination. Verify country availability, language support and campaign-type limits for the exact feature you intend to use.
- Decide what “localization” means for your campaign. Separate language-based audience selection from translation of ads, keywords and landing pages. Assign someone to review meaning and local fit.
- Inspect reused or generated campaigns. Confirm imported settings and localized assets rather than assuming they carried over correctly.
- Recheck measurement and spend. Validate tracking and budgets for the destination campaign. In Google’s beta, copied budget and bid values do not convert between currencies.
The documentation cited here does not establish platform prices, country-by-country audience reach or comparative campaign results. Treat a choice as a market-specific test, not a guarantee that one platform will outperform another.
