Yes—but the increase depends on the country and configuration. In the U.S., Samsung’s launch starting prices for the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G were each $50 higher than the corresponding A56 and A36 starting MSRPs. European launch prices also rose for comparable configurations. Whether that premium is worth paying depends on the actual price you can get today and which upgrades matter to you.
What the original price rumor said—and what Samsung later announced
The story began with European retailer listings reported by SamMobile. Those listings suggested the A57 and A37 might cost more, including reported prices of €439 for an A57 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, €539 for an 8GB/256GB A57, and €539 and €609 for A37 configurations. These were leaked figures, not Samsung’s confirmed launch price list, and the configurations did not line up neatly with the final prices. SamMobile’s original leak report used appropriately tentative language.

Samsung announced the A57 and A37 on March 25, 2026. Its U.S. announcement later gave starting prices and said availability would begin April 9. Those official U.S. prices confirm the direction of the rumor, but the leaked European amounts should not be treated as the final prices. Samsung’s U.S. announcement

How do U.S. launch prices compare?
The table compares each new U.S. base model with its closest predecessor by storage. Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP file lists the A36 and A56 128GB models at their prior MSRPs and marks both models EOL. EOL means Samsung’s listing is not a promise of ongoing availability; remaining units may instead be sold at retailer or clearance prices. Samsung’s U.S. March 2026 MSRP file

These are launch-price comparisons, not a claim about current checkout prices. Samsung said the A57 would be sold unlocked through Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores; its announcement described A37 availability through Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, and nationwide carriers for at least one color/configuration. Carrier installments, trade-in offers, and retailer discounts can produce a different transaction price.
Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP file also listed the A56 256GB at $549.99. It does not establish a like-for-like U.S. launch price for the A57 256GB: a Samsung buy-page snapshot displayed $549.99 for both A57 capacity selections, but that display could reflect an offer or page-rendering issue. Check the live purchase flow rather than assuming that price applies permanently to both capacities. Samsung’s A57 buying page

What were the European and Australian prices?
European prices are reported launch prices, not universal Samsung prices. For comparable configurations, the base A57 and A37 each rose by €50; the increase differs at other storage tiers. Taxes, market-specific configurations, and local promotions mean these euro figures should not be converted into a supposed U.S. or worldwide price.

In Australia, Samsung’s launch-offer terms listed these RRPs alongside introductory prices. The promotion began March 26, 2026, at Samsung retail stores and ran through April 29, subject to the document’s participating-retailer terms; it is a historical launch offer, not a current-price guarantee.
| Australian model and storage | RRP | Introductory offer price during stated promotion |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A57, 128GB | A$749 | A$599 |
| Galaxy A57, 256GB | A$849 | A$699 |
| Galaxy A37, 128GB | A$599 | A$499 |
The RRP and offer terms are in Samsung Australia’s launch-offer document. An introductory price can narrow or temporarily erase the apparent gap with an older phone, but it should not be confused with standard RRP.

What changed in the A57 and A37?
Samsung’s launch announcement emphasizes performance, cameras, display, durability, security, and AI features in One UI 8.5, including Voice Transcription and expanded AI Select functionality. Samsung also promises up to six generations of OS upgrades and long-term security support; “up to” is the stated ceiling, not a guarantee that every feature or update arrives identically in every region. - Processors: Independent launch coverage identifies an Exynos 1480 in the A37, replacing the A36’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, and an Exynos 1680 in the A57, replacing the A56’s Exynos 1580. That makes the A37’s chipset change the more conspicuous performance case; reported performance comparisons are not a substitute for a test of your own apps and workload.
- Design and materials: The A57 is thinner and lighter than its predecessor and has a metal frame. The A37 uses a plastic frame.
- Display and protection: Both retain 6.7-inch, 120Hz AMOLED-class displays and IP68 protection, according to WIRED’s launch coverage.
- Battery and charging: Both retain a 5,000mAh battery and 45W wired charging; neither has wireless charging. These are not areas where the generation change delivers a clear capacity or charging-spec jump.
- AI and support: The newer software and Samsung’s AI tools may be useful if you expect to use features such as transcription. Their value is personal: a branded AI feature alone does not establish a meaningful day-to-day speed improvement.
WIRED describes the A57’s processor gain as relatively modest beside the A37’s and discusses refinements to cameras, displays, and connectivity. Samsung has not publicly confirmed that memory costs or broader economic uncertainty caused the higher prices; those have been cited as possible context, not an established explanation. Is the Galaxy A57 worth paying more for?
The A57’s case is strongest for someone buying new who values the lighter, thinner design, metal frame, newer connectivity and refinements, or the newer support horizon. Samsung’s published support promise and One UI 8.5 features may also matter to someone keeping a phone for years and actively using those tools.
The A56 may be the better financial choice if it is substantially discounted and already meets your needs. Its original U.S. 128GB MSRP was $499.99, but Samsung marks the model EOL in its March 2026 price file, so any remaining stock and price depend on the seller. Compare the actual unlocked checkout total for each phone, not the A56’s old MSRP against the A57’s launch price. If the gap is small, the newer model offers a longer prospective ownership window; if the A56 is much cheaper, its continuing adequacy for your camera, battery, and app needs may outweigh refinements.
Is the Galaxy A37 worth paying more for?
The A37 has the clearer performance argument of the two new phones because it moves to a different processor family from the A36. That can make the new model more appealing if you are buying at near-launch prices and want the newer platform, AI features, and support period.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor a budget buyer, however, a discounted A36 could make more sense if everyday performance is already enough and the savings are meaningful. The A36’s prior U.S. 128GB MSRP was $399.99, but the EOL listing means that figure is historical MSRP, not a current offer. Check storage and RAM before comparing a sale A36 with an A37: the European base configuration, for example, is 6GB/128GB for both, while higher tiers differ in price and memory.
How to decide between the new phones and remaining A36/A56 stock
- Match the configuration. Compare the same storage and, where available, RAM tier. A 6GB/128GB phone is not a like-for-like comparison with an 8GB/256GB phone.
- Compare real purchase totals. Keep unlocked cash price, carrier installment, trade-in credit, bundle value, and temporary promotion separate. Do not treat trade-in value as a lower base price.
- Check who is selling it. Confirm that the listing is from Samsung or an authorized retailer, then verify the regional model, warranty, eSIM support, and network compatibility.
- Choose for the upgrade you will use. Favor the A37 if its newer processor is your priority; favor the A57 if the lighter design and refinements matter more. If neither addresses a problem you have, a sufficiently discounted previous-generation model is likely the better value.
- Use local pricing, not currency conversion. Compare prices in your market with the applicable tax and promotion terms. Regional taxes, distribution, and Samsung’s pricing strategy make exchange-rate conversions misleading as retail-price comparisons.
For owners of an A36 or A56 that still performs adequately, a higher launch MSRP by itself is not a reason to upgrade. The practical question is whether a specific new feature, performance change, or remaining-support window solves a need worth the extra outlay.
