With the current one-day periods, a request generally takes about one to two days to become claimable. If proposed 30-day periods are activated, timing could stretch from just over 30 days to nearly 60 days, depending on when the request enters the queue.
Why Firelight withdrawals are queued
Firelight lets users deposit FXRP, an XRP-linked asset on Flare, into a vault and receive stXRP. The ERC-20 stXRP token represents the deposited position and can be transferred or used elsewhere in Flare’s DeFi ecosystem.

Firelight’s stated Phase 2 design uses deposited FXRP as collateral for DeFi cover. Protocols that buy protection pay premiums, and those premiums are intended to create income for vault participants. That makes the vault an insurance-collateral strategy, not a conventional savings account or guaranteed-yield product.
A withdrawal request does not settle immediately. Firelight’s documented rule is that a request submitted during one coverage period becomes claimable only after the following full period ends. The request therefore waits in a queue until the period boundary has passed.

How long a withdrawal can take
| Coverage-period setting | When the request is submitted | Approximate wait |
|---|---|---|
| One day, described as current in the cited documentation | At any point in the period | Roughly one to two days |
| 30 days, a planned setting | Near the end of a period | Just over 30 days |
| 30 days, a planned setting | Near the beginning of a period | Potentially close to 60 days |
The nearly 60-day outcome is a timing consequence: the user may wait for the remainder of the current 30-day period and then the complete next period. It is not evidence of an indefinite lockup. Bifrost’s support guidance says the current vault has a cooldown rather than a permanent inability to withdraw, with the exact delay shown in the withdrawal interface.
The available documentation still described one-day periods as current, so the longer schedule should be treated as conditional until Firelight confirms that it has been activated.

What happens after you press withdraw
- Submit the withdrawal request. The position enters the vault’s queue for the relevant coverage period.
- Stop earning new rewards. Firelight’s documentation says rewards stop as soon as the withdrawal process begins.
- Remain exposed during the queue. The queued FXRP can still be affected by an eligible coverage claim tied to the period in which it was backing protection.
- Wait for the following period to end. Only then does the request become claimable under the documented rule.
- Complete the claim transaction. The amount returned can be lower if an eligible claim is allocated to the position.
This combination matters: capital can stop generating rewards while it remains exposed to the protocol’s loss process. A withdrawal request therefore reduces liquidity and expected income immediately, but does not necessarily eliminate claim risk at that moment.
How claims can reduce your returned FXRP
Firelight documents a loss waterfall in which a protocol-funded stablecoin First-Loss Buffer is used ahead of staked FXRP. That structure is intended to absorb losses before vault collateral does.

However, the available material does not establish the buffer’s current balance or show that a paid claim has occurred. It is therefore not possible to conclude that the buffer is large enough for future losses. If an eligible claim reaches staked FXRP, a withdrawing user could receive less than the amount originally deposited.
The practical decision is a three-way trade-off:
- Liquidity: funds may be unavailable until the queue and final claim are complete.
- Yield: premiums are intended to produce rewards while FXRP remains deposited and active.
- Principal risk: a qualifying claim can reduce the amount ultimately returned.
What Firelight TVL does—and does not—tell you
| Reported figure | What it represents | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| $78.22 million | Firelight TVL shown in a DefiLlama listing snapshot | Coverage sold, premiums earned, or profitability |
| $71.74 million | DefiLlama figure reported for a September 13, 2026 snapshot | A live balance at publication or protection capacity |
These figures measure deposited vault assets at particular times. TVL can rise because users deposit more FXRP, not because Firelight has sold more cover or generated higher net income. It also does not reveal whether premium yield compensates users for the withdrawal delay and claim risk.

Using the vault without missing the operational details
Bifrost’s support instructions describe a workflow of obtaining or holding FXRP, staking it in Firelight, monitoring a pending withdrawal, and returning to the interface when the cooldown ends. The cooldown is vault-specific and displayed in the withdrawal screen.
- Confirm the displayed coverage period before depositing; do not assume a planned 30-day setting is already active.
- Keep enough FLR in the connected wallet for the final claim transaction.
- Record the withdrawal request time and the period boundary shown by the interface.
- Do not treat a pending withdrawal as risk-free: rewards have stopped, but claim exposure may continue until the request is claimable.
- Size the position so you can tolerate receiving less FXRP if the loss waterfall reaches staked collateral.
Is staking XRP through Firelight worth the lockup?
Firelight may suit someone who accepts delayed liquidity in exchange for exposure to premiums from DeFi protection. It is a poor match for money needed on a fixed date, because the exit time depends on the period and request timing rather than a simple instant-withdrawal promise.

Before depositing, check the live vault interface for the active period, the displayed cooldown, reward terms, and any current claim information. Treat the First-Loss Buffer as a layer of protection rather than a guarantee, since its current adequacy is not established by the cited material. The central question is not merely whether the quoted yield looks attractive; it is whether that yield compensates for waiting potentially weeks to exit and accepting possible principal loss.
