The early retailer listings were broadly accurate, but they are no longer the latest word. Samsung officially announced the Galaxy A37 5G and Galaxy A57 5G on March 25, 2026, with retail availability following in April. The listings correctly pointed to the phones’ batteries, charging support, processors and camera layouts, while prices and configurations remained dependent on country, storage tier and contract terms.
For shoppers, the key distinction is simple: the A37 is the lower-cost option, while the A57 adds a higher-positioned processor, a better ultrawide camera and a thinner, lighter design.

What the early listings revealed
Retailer listings reported before Samsung’s announcement gave shoppers an early look at model names, dimensions, weight, battery capacity, charging speed, processors, memory and storage, cameras, software and contract pricing. That information was useful evidence, but it was not equivalent to a Samsung announcement.
Retail listings can contain placeholder prices, incorrect RAM or storage combinations, region-specific specifications, carrier-contract figures, unfinalized software details or information copied from an earlier model. The original report listed the Galaxy A57 at approximately R429 per month over 48 months and the Galaxy A37 at R399 per month over 36 months in South Africa. Those were contract examples, not universal retail prices or global suggested retail prices.

Using the listed terms, the payments total R20,592 for the A57 and R14,364 for the A37. That arithmetic does not establish either phone’s cash price: a contract may include mobile service, fees, subsidies or promotional terms. See the original listing report at SamMobile.

Samsung’s U.S. documentation confirms the 6.7-inch 120Hz displays, U.S. memory and storage options, and the absence of microSD expansion, wireless charging, PowerShare and Samsung DeX. Regional configurations can differ, so do not assume that a model sold elsewhere has the same RAM, storage or camera specifications. Samsung’s U.S. comparison information is the relevant reference for U.S. buyers.
Which specifications were confirmed?
Galaxy A37 5G
The A37 occupies the lower position in the pair. The early listing identified an Exynos 1480 processor, a 5,000mAh battery, up to 45W wired charging and a triple rear-camera system consisting of a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera. Its listed dimensions were 162.9 × 78.2 × 7.4mm and 196g; those measurements should be treated as listing-specific rather than automatically universal across every market.

Samsung’s U.S. information confirms a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and lists 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations. The phone does not accept a microSD card. That makes the storage decision important at purchase: buyers who routinely keep large games, videos or offline media should consider the 256GB version rather than expecting to expand it later.
Galaxy A57 5G
The A57 is the more ambitious model. It uses the Exynos 1680, has a 50MP optically stabilized main camera, a 12MP ultrawide and a 5MP macro camera, and is thinner and lighter than the A37 in the published specifications. Later coverage lists a 12MP front camera, 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB storage depending on market.
Those higher memory and storage tiers are not standard everywhere. Samsung’s U.S. information lists the A57 with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. A 12GB/512GB version reported in another market should not be used to compare prices with a U.S. model unless both configurations are available in the same country.

What the listings got right after launch
- Battery: Both phones use 5,000mAh batteries.
- Charging: Both support wired charging up to 45W. Support for that speed does not prove that a 45W charger is included in the box; check the regional product page and box contents.
- Processors: The A37 uses the Exynos 1480 and the A57 uses the higher-positioned Exynos 1680.
- Main cameras: Both have 50MP primary rear cameras with OIS.
- Ultrawide cameras: The A57 has a 12MP ultrawide, while the A37 has an 8MP unit.
- Macro cameras: Both listings pointed to 5MP macro cameras. This is a minor feature, not a reason by itself to choose one phone.
- Display class: Both have 6.7-inch 120Hz displays, although Samsung distinguishes the A57’s panel as Super AMOLED Plus and the A37’s as Super AMOLED.
The original listing’s expectation of Android 16 and One UI 8.5 became consistent with Samsung’s launch information. Samsung also promises up to six generations of OS upgrades and up to six years of security updates. “Up to” matters: the promise describes the maximum support commitment, not a guarantee that every regional variant will receive every update on the same date.

The early report also discussed up to 4K/30fps HDR video. Treat that capability as dependent on final regional documentation rather than assuming that every market variant offers identical camera recording modes. Samsung’s launch announcement is available through Samsung Mobile Press.
Prices: do not confuse contracts with retail cost
Reported U.S. starting prices were $449.99 for the Galaxy A37 5G and $549.99 for the Galaxy A57 5G. These are U.S. price signals, not worldwide MSRPs. The actual amount paid can change with storage, unlocked or carrier status, trade-in credit, gift-card promotions and retailer timing. Reported coverage also placed the U.S. A57 at about $549 for 8GB/128GB and $609 for 8GB/256GB, illustrating why storage must be named alongside the price. Android Central’s pricing coverage provides that U.S. context.

Prices in Australia, Indonesia, South Africa and other markets may differ substantially because of taxes, currency conversion, distribution and local promotions. A monthly carrier figure is especially easy to misread. Compare the full contract cost, the included service, fees, upgrade conditions and cancellation terms before calling it a bargain.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the A57 worth paying more for?
The A57’s premium buys several tangible upgrades: the Exynos 1680, a 12MP rather than 8MP ultrawide camera, a slimmer and lighter body, and broader memory and storage availability in some markets. Those benefits matter most to buyers who frequently use the ultrawide camera, want more headroom for multitasking or games, or plan to keep the phone for several years.
The A37 retains the same broad appeal for less money: a large 120Hz AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, long promised software support and useful storage options. For messaging, streaming, navigation, photography in good light and ordinary productivity, the A57’s specification advantage does not automatically justify a $100 premium for every buyer.

Independent review coverage describes the A57 as competent for everyday use rather than a performance leader. Heavy gamers should compare sustained performance and value with other phones sold at the same local price; do not assume that the higher model number makes it the best gaming purchase. TechRadar’s A57 review offers that performance qualification.
Which model fits which budget?
- Choose the A37 if the lowest outright price is the priority and you still want a large 120Hz AMOLED display, a large battery and Samsung’s long support commitment.
- Choose the A57 if the extra cost is acceptable and you value the stronger processor, better ultrawide camera, lighter design or a higher storage tier.
- Choose 256GB if you keep substantial media or games locally, because neither phone supports microSD cards.
- Look beyond both phones if wireless charging, Samsung DeX, PowerShare or exceptionally strong gaming performance is essential.
- Check the box contents before budgeting for charging accessories. A phone’s 45W charging capability does not necessarily include a 45W adapter.
When comparing offers, use the same checklist: outright price, RAM and storage, unlocked versus carrier status, promotional credits, included accessories, warranty and return terms, and the exact regional model number. Avoid paying for a 12GB/512GB A57 unless that configuration is sold in your country and you genuinely need the capacity.
The current verdict on the early-listing story
The retailer listings were credible enough to forecast much of the A37 and A57 hardware, but they were incomplete evidence about price and availability. Samsung’s March 25 announcement and April retail rollout changed the article’s status from a pre-launch rumor report to a launch-verified comparison. The A37 is the value choice; the A57 is the more complete phone, but its premium makes sense only when its processor, ultrawide camera, design or storage advantage matters to you.
